Thom was standing with his arms folded high across his chest, grinding his teeth loud enough for the people closest to him to hear. He was doing his best to think up a way in which to avoid working with Zachary, but was finding none. He was about to once again interrupt Professor Jones, when the sound of rustling leaves caught his ear.
Turning, he looked in alarm to see Zachary crawling on his hands and knees into the thick under growth of the bordering trees. He held in his chin in thought, narrowing his eyes. Why is he always up to something? Thom thought angrily.
Unable to stop himself, Thom took a view step backward into the crowd unnoticed, until he was safely out of sight. He then crept past the back of the gathering, picking his pace up when they were unlikely to hear his footsteps. As he entered the forest, the air immediately become much colder. 'You!' Thom hissed as he sighted Zachary tearing up brambles and cursing. 'What are you doing?' he demanded. 'I'm a prefect, I should be taking points...' he said nastily.

Zachary immediately stood up straight in fear, his head hitting a cluster of low twigs as he did. Scowling- though his menacing expression was severely toned down by the leaves scattered throughout his hair- he regarded Thom carefully. "The stupid salamander ran off, and I'm assuming you don't want to get a Troll on this project either."
Not waiting for any response, he turned back around, and bent low. He thought he saw a flicker of white run past his vision, and trudged a little bit further into the forest. "Shouldn't you run along now, Moen," he said angrilly, his shoes squishing in the mud. "Before another centaur comes-- I really don't want to take up the hobby of saving your life."

'Oh you're such a little liar, Daniels.' Thom said disbelievingly, watching with an up turned nose as the boy continued to rummage around in the cold and dirty vegetation. 'Can't believe you've already bloody lost it. Can't trust a boy to do a man's job, I see...' Thom sighed deliberately as he stepped forward, kicking at the brambles and fallen branches, making more noise than was necessary. He swore gruffly as a broken twig dug into the flesh on his ankle, immediately drawing blood. Thom was reminded unpleasantly of the various other injuries the forest enjoyed bestowing upon him.
The Hufflepuff smirked as he saw Zachary look off into the forest, startled by something that was obviously not there. 'Such a whimp.' he said loudly.

Zachary's head snapped over to Thom, and he scowled. Flushing slightly, he turned away and shoved some sharp twigs from his path.
"I really shouldn't be the one who's worried," He called in the Hufflepuff's direction, "I'm not the one who fell unconscious in here, now am I?"
The salamander seemed to have disappeared completely, and Zachary narrowed his eyes. The light was thinning from between the canopy of trees above them, and a thick row of knobby trees showed only dark, murky territory between their branches. Positive he didn't want to venture any deeper into the forest, Zachary cursed.
"Alright, you're older. You go in first." He said, turning to Thom with his arms folded neatly over his chest.

Thom scoffed, although a little colour appeared high on his cheeks. 'I - you - I'm not going in there again!' he spluttered, immediately giving the awaiting gloominess a worrisome glance. 'I didn't loose the lizard. I didn't even get to hold the stupid thing.' he turned back toward the class ready to inform Professor Jones that Zachary had already lost the salamander and that he - Thom - should not be held even a little responsible.
As he pushed a tree branch forward he looked back at Zachary. 'And I didn't fall unconscious -you hit me!'
It was then that he let the branch go. It swung back with a loud crack, slamming into the side of Thom's head.
He instantly toppled to the ground and ceased to move.

Zachary rolled his eyes, his arms folding over his chest arrogantly as he stared at Thom's retreating back. "I did not hit--"
His eyes widened as the tree branch swung back, and let out a long groan as Thom fell lifelessly to the ground. "Oh you've got to be bloody kidding me." He said, his voice growing slightly high-pitched as he realized he no longer had someone with him in the forest- although Moen had never proved to be a help anyway.
A loud rustle sounded throughout the trees, and Zachary shivered, walking cautiously over to Thom and glancing around him nervously. "You have some messed up sense of humor, Thom," he said angrily, though his voice broke just at the end. "Get up this instant," he finally reached the body and grimaced at the red mark at the very side of Moen's face.
After a couple of severe shakes, Zachary swore and resigned to believing the idiot had gone and hurt himself again. Staring at the still body for a moment, he rolled his eyes. "Right, you stay here. Don't move." He said as he gestured around him, before turning back around. "I'm going to go look for that salamander, and then I'll be right back--"
Another rustle caught his attention, and he widened his eyes. Pulling out his wand, he shook it in front of the bustling leaves. "Who-who's there?"
His demand would have been more effective, had he not been squeaking nervously.

A few more twigs snapped before several tall branches were pushed aside to reveal the source of the approaching commotion.
A young conker coloured centaur appeared from between two crooked trees, his hooves thudding gently as they stepped into the mud and away from the collection of leaves and branches adorning the wild forest floor. He had soft hair the same colour as his pelt that fell around his face, and his upper body was narrow and slender - he was no older than Zachary.
He stared at Zachary with honey coloured eyes inquisitively, tilting his head to one side. 'Is it you that is making all the noise? I heard you from half a mile away...' he said in a small voice.

Zachary let out a small yelp as the centaur approached him. Stumbling backwards, he continued to point his wand at the intruder, nearly tripping over the thick roots of large tree.
"Don-- Don't come any closer!" He demanded, continuing to move backwards fearfully. "I swear I didn't steal your ancestors rotting body parts. Now- Now--" He grimaced, only just realizing he was now standing on top of Thom's fingers. With a scowl, he stomped on them once, hard, before turning back to the centaur.
"Really, don't-- Don't you dare move." He said to the centaur, his eyes growing even wider with fear.

At Zachary's violent and sudden out burst, the young centaur reared back in shock, yelling himself, and quickly galloped behind a rather wide tree.
After a few moments of silence, he peered round, looking terrified. 'Why are you shouting? Is there something about?' he asked, shooting glances about himself worryingly. He seemed rather shy and skittish, and not at all like any other centaur. He swished his tail as he began to relax, and still peering round the tree, looked back at Zachary. 'Who is that on the ground? I thought Hogwarts students weren't allowed in here...' he said quietly, although he looked rather pleased at the prospect of company.

Zachary, pleased that his wand waving had the desired effect, continued to shake it in front of him. "You're not going to shove me up against any trees this time, you--" He paused, when the centaur poked its head from behind a tree and glanced at him inquisitively.
"Why are you so small," he said bluntly, his wand hand falling limply to his side. He was also hoping Thom wouldn't wake up any time soon as he'd most-likely come to the assumption that this tiny thing was the centaur he had so bravely saved the Hufflepuff from.
Scowling, he looked back at Thom. "On the ground? He's only the most annoying Hufflepuff to ever grace the castle halls." The centaur didn't look like any immediate threat, and Zachary hesitated momentarily before adding, "You wouldn't have happened to see any salamanders around here, would you?"

(( Lesson getting that boring huh? Haha ))
Meanwhile the Care of Magical Creatures lesson had been continuing as normal as Rhiannon showed the once again shrunken lizard to the class. 'So no ideas then?' She asked with a another peer around the students. 'It's a moke, and has the ability to shrink at will with the approach of strangers. It might not have the striking colours of a salamander-' She went to direct this comment at Zachery and Thom, causing her to do a double take at their apparent disappearance.
'But er.. er..' She faltered as she glanced around for them at the back. 'It, erm, is obviously admired as its scales are highly prized. All you will really need to do is identify them for the exam though.' Where have those two gone to... 'Well, I think we've covered enough for today, I'll see you all next lesson and don't worry we will do some creatures which are a bit more cuddly.' Rhian smirked - she had a feeling some hadn't appreciated the amount of scales in the lesson.
Sliding off the large tree stump, Rhiannon stuck her wand in the back pocket of her jeans and headed towards a cluster of trees at the side. 'Oy Skull!' She yelled, grabbing the attention of the small crup who then went to trot beside her. Rhian had figured the two students had wandered off into the forest and by the sound of the chattering voices nearby she guessed she was right.
'Why don't you talk louder you two? I don't think my deaf grandfather in Wales quite heard you.' She said equally loudly - figuring there was no point in being quiet, if something was going to come it would have come already. 'And bloody hell you guys.' She continued amusedly as she paced closer to where they must be standing. 'I know you didn't want to be partners but you could have just asked nicely rather than buggering off in here and getting me sacked for it.'
She came face to face with Zachary as she finished off her sentence, and after a moment or two of wondering what on earth she was treading on, she jumped backwards at the realisation that it was a leg. 'What happened to him?!'

Zachary quickly spun around, finding himself face-to-face with their Professor. Stunned for a moment, he watched as she quickly jumped off Thom's long limbs with satisfaction, before glancing behind him, wondering if the centaur was still visible.
"Oh, him?" He realized his wand was still in his hands and pointing slightly towards Thom. Rolling his eyes, he let out a long sigh. "Nothing really, I just hexed him is all." He said dryly. "Of course that's it, because no Hufflepuff would be stupid enough to knock themselves unconscious with a flimsy tree branch." He snorted, still nervously glancing behind him every few seconds.
Remembering the salamander, Zachary shifted uncomfortably, his gaze trailing across the floor in one last desperate attempt to locate it. "Er, about that salamander..." He began sheepishly, before he felt something cling onto his robes before trailing up his arm. Then a soft hissing reached his ears, and Zachary's expression became absolutely furious. "Oh, oh it's just fine. But it bloody wont be for long!"

The centaur stepped timidly from behind the tree, playing with his hands nervously. An adult human had appeared to seemingly find the foal and the fallen one. 'You are indeed making a lot of noise... it's not wise.' he gave a careful glance about him, though it was not as flustered as Zachary's paranoid ones. 'Humans are not all that welcome here.' he walked up to the three of them, only towering over them a little. He was quite small in comparison to most centaurs.
Looking at Zachary he noticed the bright little salamander. 'Oooh where did you get that? What is it?' he asked, having never seen one in the forest before.

Zachary raised an eyebrow as the centaur approached them, not at all expecting the friendly, warning tone. "It's- er, a salamander. Pesky creatures they are, always running away." He glared at it, watching as it's forked tongue peeked out from it's mouth.
There was an awkward pause in which Zachary looked from the professor, to the unconscious body and then finally at the centaur, before he swallowed nervously. "Er-- You wouldn't happen to know a Mercutio, would you?" He asked the centaur as he continued to look at the salamander curiously. "What is your name, anyhow?" He remembered vaguely a younger centaur coming to Hogwarts once before, though the two didn't look anything alike.

The centaur tilted his head from side to side, studying the salamader as Zachary explained what it was. His face lit up in a happy smile at the mention of Mercutio. 'Oh, my father you mean!' he said in a jolly voice. 'Do you know him?' he asked hopefully, his tail swishing from side to side excitedly. 'And my name is Mirren.' he added.
Mirren looked sharply behind him suddenly, although no noise had been apparent. He stared in one direction for a moment with wide eyes before looking back to Zachary carefully. 'Are there any other humans here?' he asked, puzzled.
