Dan sat at the front of the classroom with a smug smile on his face. The room was a lot darker then normal. The curtains were closed blocking out the March sun and all the candles spread around the room were nearly burnt out. Tables and chairs were scattered around the room in any position, some tables had no chairs while some had three.
Dan continued to stare at the door, ready to greet the first person to enter his room. He felt in a rather strange mood and knew that today he would be willing to greet who ever decided to enter. However the magic that he was going to teach today would be difficult and for many pointless, but for those select few it could be important.
The dimly light chalk board behind him was just about visible through the darkness and Dan had made no attempt to make his writing easier to read. Prior Incantato
What is it?? Why would you use it?? Who would use it??
Please write your answer on a slip of parchment and hand it to me at the front. Points will be given for answer that are right and make me laugh With a deep breath Dan pushed himself up in his chair and continued to watch the door as it slowly began to open. Ravenclaw:28 Hufflepuff: 55 Gryffindor:35 Slytherin: 50

Loren's face burned an ugly red as she stood outside the door to the Charms classroom, her chest heaving in anger, her ears practically fuming. That morning she had recieved a letter from Professor Starsmore explaining that, if she did not start re-attending Charms lessons (her excuse that she was allergic to jinxes obviously no longer working) then she would have to take remedial lessons. Of course, Professor Starsmore had been a little less formal, his exact words having been "get over yourself for Merlin's sake".
Remedial lessons would probably be with Professor Hubbles, and under no circumstances was she doing anything with him privately. Today Loren was just going to have to grin and bear it... well, "grimace" was perhaps a better word.
Placing her forehead on the wood of the door, she pushed it open, breathing deeply in a last minute attempt to calm herself.
The classroom was washed in gloom, the candles low, the curtains drawn, the furniture a mess as usual... and Professor Hubbles, sitting at his desk, gloating. Loren tried to be natural and just go to her seat, looking at the board, but failing all this she simply stood and stared at him heavily, her teeth grinding.

Nathan strutted down the corridor towards the classroom, his eyes were narrow as he looked at every other student with suspicious glare. As he turned to face the door he noticed it was already open and a girl seemed to be standing in the way. With a rather disgruntled look Nathan pushed passed her and walked into the dark room. He picked one of the centre tables and carefully sat down on the chair and placed his bag gently.
Although Nathan was taking great care he was not assumed to be the first person in the room, and to that extend being ignored. He turned to look over his shoulder to find the Ravenclaw staring at the professor harshly and that professor Hubbles was doing nothing about it. Realising that someone was going to have to take charge Nathan turned around in his chair and looked at Loren.
“Will you please sit down. Not only are you blocking the door in case anyone wants to enter you are also ruing the learning area. Typical Ravenclaw, thinking they can do what they like.”
Nathan mumbled the last sentence to himself as he bent down to his bag and pulled out some parchment to answer what was on the board. He felt so much like a Hufflepuff it was untrue.

Loren's cold glare was quickly knocked off her face as someone bashed into her shoulder, knocking her into the doorframe as they barged past. Slack jawed she stared in disbelief as he simply sat down without apologising and proceeded to mock her.
Regaining her composure and flashing Professor Hubbles a dangerous look, Loren marched over to the table directly behind Nathan, sitting down loudly. 'I can do what I like, actually.' She whispered, her nose turned up. 'Classrooms are Ravenclaw's domain, not Slytherin's!' She huffed possessively.
Ragging her wand out of her bag she slammed it on the table, the tip pointing directly at nathan's back. Loren's hair was already dishelved with the strain of simply being in the same room as Professor Hubbles, but although Nathan was aggravating her, she almost appreciated how he was distracting her. Clearing her throat Loren sat back, staring determinedly at the ceiling. 'Don't even know why're you're here,' She muttered to Nathan. 'Like anything will get through your thick head.'

Nathan chuckled slyly to himself as he heard the Ravenclaw moan behind him, he desired greatly to turn around and laugh hearty in her face but he decided against it. This girl quit clearly did not want to be in the lesson and Nathan assigned himself the task, as Slytherin prefect, to make this lesson hell for her. As yet another insult floated from behind him Nathan gave a rather over acted and over exenterated gasp of shock.
“Tut tut Miss Hayes. That is not the attitude such a young witch as yourself should possesses, particularly in the presences of such a teacher. It makes it sound like you are offending his teaching method.”
Nathan fought hard to keep away the laughter. He let his proud voice penetrate the silence around them and raised an eyebrow over at the silent professor. Then with a deep breath Nathan once more turned around in his seat to look at the Ravenclaw. He was taken aback at first to see the wand pointing straight at him, but after a quick rethink that this Ravenclaw would not have the guts to do anything he looked back at her and shot a toothy grin.
“Well if it will not get through my head then you stand no chance. I hear that you relay more on attitude then intelligence. I would just like to be the first person to tell you that it will get you no where in the real world.”

Dan’s anticipation for his first student was wasted. IT was Loren Hayes and her reaction was almost like Dan’s apart from the fact she showed it, Dan just let the anger bubble inside of him and kept the smug smile on his face. Loren was soon followed by yet another student, this time it was an upper-class Slytherin who seemed to treat everyone like their were his house elf. Dan actually found him amusing.
Leaning back on his chair Dan watched on as the two students passed insults between each other. Dan loved watching teenagers interact with each other, particularly when they got into pitiful squabbles such as this. The only action Dan made during the warm up insults was flick his wand so that the point totals on the board changed. Anyone who teased Loren Hayes were automatically put in his good books, whether they be Slytherin or not. However Loren stood her ground and seemed to be fighting back, the only thing he admired about the brat.
“Welcome both of you. Nice to see you are getting to know each other, but please there is work on the board for a reason. Miss Hayes I would appreciated it if you do not belittle my teaching anymore, and Mr Holloway can you please stay still I your chair I do not want to see the back of your thick head all lesson.”
Deciding that was his job done, and if they continued to argue it was no longer his fault, Dan turned his attention back to the doorway waiting for more students.

Jac stumbled into the dark classroom, rubbing her eye and yawning. She had her other hand on the door handle and in her sleepy state didn't open the door wide enough so she walked into it. "Ooph!" she huffed. Her hair turned blood red and her eyes blue as she stumbled backwards into the door frame and glared indignantly at the door.
She was awake now, though not entirely, and realised she was standing in the doorway. Looking around the dimly lit class she was happy to see that there weren't many people there yet, not many to see her slight miscalculation. First she noticed the Prof. Jac snorted and pointed at the door, saying, "your door's haunted, Prof, you should have that checked out."
Smiling, she entered the class and took a seat a few desks away from the other two students. The one she recognised, and greeted through another yawn, "hey Loren!" The other she had seen around but couldn't remember his name. "Hey!" she said in any case, "dark room, huh?" She was trying to be conversational and light-hearted because she felt some tension in the room.
It was only now that she noticed the writing on the board. Prior Incantato... she thought slowly. It range a bell ... oh yes! She remembered now and took out a piece of parchment, a quill and an ink pot, and proceeded to write:
Prior Incantato It is a spell that forces the target wand to emit a ghost image of the last spell it cast. It would be used to see the last spell the wand had cast and to find the origins of a mystery spell. And that image could be dispelled using “Deletrius”. Ministry officials might use this to see what the last spell that was cast by the person they were interrogating.
After rereading what she had written, she was happy with her answer and walking towards the professor’s desk, she could only hope he would be too. Taking a deep breath, she handed to parchment to him and returned to her seat.

Dan watched Jac closely as she entered the room, she was always cheerful and willing to talk to anyone, and the atmosphere of the room seemed to hit her hard. Dan gave a small laugh as she mentioned about the dark room, and how she was actually trying to interact with the miserable students also present. With a flick of his wand points were added to the board for Gryffindor and Dan started watching closely as Jac started to do the work she was asked. He would occasionally shot the odd glance towards the door to make sure no new arrivals had turned up.
“Thank you Miss Biggerstall. It is nice to see someone is doing the work.”
Dan studied the parchment carefully and held it up to the candle that was on his desk. As he read on a small smile filled his face. It was a very good answer and even covered some areas that he was going ask about later. Nodding his head Dan raised his wand and with a small flick more points were added next to Gryffindor.
“A text book answer Miss Biggerstall, maybe next time your own words would be better? A few jokes maybe, I like a laugh. But other then that well done, and as I am feeling rather lazy and can not be bothered to stand up I will award extra points if you can think of an entertaining way of collecting your parchment back off me.”
He shot Jac a small smile and once more landed back on his chairs back legs, slowly rocking himself backwards and forwards, waiting for the parchment to fly off his desk.

Loren rolled her eyes dramatically at Professor Hubbles before folding her arms daintily and sitting back in her seat. Jac entered the room now and Loren sighed in relief, glad a decent face had finally arrived. 'Hello, Jac,' she chimed pleasantly as her friend sat a few seats away. Finally having had enough of Nathan, she picked up her wand and hopped a few seats over to join her. In reference to the darkened room Loren muttered, 'I expect it's got nothing to do with the lesson. He's just a reclusive old sod who burns too easily.' She huffed.
Upon Jac's parchment being summoned to Professor Hubbles's desk, Loren finally glanced at the blackboard to see what was going on. Prior Incantato? Well... Loren supposed that could be interesting. It was a shame Professor Hubbles had just cast a summoning spell, or Loren may have been able to see what he had done to her last night in the corridor. At the time nothing had seemed too suspicious, but by morning Loren had been sure the Charms professor had cast some sort of spell on her.
'Why don't you get drunk and tackle him for it.' Loren muttered snidely, reminiscent of the Yule Ball events several months ago. By now everyone was sick of her going on about it, but she was still terribly bitter.

Blake walked into the room, he had been up all night and was almost falling over himself. Usually Blake kept to himself and didn't know many people, but he wanted to make some more friends. Hoping they didn't mind, Blake sat down by Jac and Loren.
Noticing the assignment on the board had been answered already, Blake just sighed. He had hoped he would have been the first one to answer it.
Taking in the people around him, he noticed a happy looking Griffindor, though half asleep herself, and an intelligent, unhappy Ravenclaw. There was also some smug looking Slytherin in the back. Loathsome oaf.

Jac was almost insulted by the professor's comment about her answer being out of a text book. She would have told him off but he was her teacher and he had just given her house points, she wasn't about to bit the hand that fed her. But when he instructed her to take it from him in an interesting way, Jac forgot about the insult and contemplated the situation.
Jac thought of casting the spell she knew to make the professor laugh uncontrollably but thought better of attacking a teacher. She thought about making boils appear all over Loren's face, she was sure he would enjoy that but Jac liked Loren and wouldn't do that to her. The only thing she could think of was not so much funny but cunning.
She got to her feet and took out her wand as she walked back to the professor's desk. She gave a low bow and said, "why thank you for your acknowledgement," and held her one hand in the air, her wand hand in front of her chest, hugged there. She softly said, "Orchideous." A bouquet of flowers burst from the tip of her wand and landed on the professor's desk. She was impressed that it had worked so well.
Then when the professor wasn't paying attention to her she quickly added, "Accio paper." And the paper flew to her hand. Once she had obtained her goal she went to her seat again and noticed the new Ravenclaw. "Hi there!" she said cheerfully, sitting, and extended her hand, "I'm Jac, nice to meet you!"

Bellatrix and Narcissa Black entered the class room. It was her first day at RH. Her and her sister, Narcissa had transfered from California Hogwarts. They couldn't stand the headmasters there, so they moved.
"Hello, professor. I'm Bellatrix and this is Narcissa. Were new to RH." she handed him a note, and the sisters took seats at the back of the class next to the only other Slytherin there.
"Hey," she said to him snobbishly. "I'm Bellatrix. This is Narcissa. mind if we sit?" Not waiting for an answer, they sat.

Narcissa took her sister's lead and sat down next to her. She smiled at the Slytherin boy and pulled her hair into a low ponytail ready for their lesson. She nudged her sister to point out the Ravenclaw in front of them. She smiled in her Slytherin way, and started to twirl her wand waiting for a response from the professor they had just walked in on.

Bellatrix giggled, and wrote down on a piece of parchment:
Bellatrix Black June 10, 2007 Charms Priori Incantato
1. What is it?
Bellatrix chewed her quill tip as she pondered the question.
She wrote:
Priori Incantato is a spell used to discover the last spell a wand cast.
2. Why would you use it? You could use it in law enforcement, to prove a suspect guilty of a crime.
3. Who would use it? A ministry official, probably a witch or wizard of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement.

When the flowers landed on his desk Dan could not help but laugh, it was not quite what he had in mind but it was something different, and the paper had gone off his desk, which was the most important thing. The classroom seemed to slowly fill up as Dan was studying his flowers and he soon noticed that a Slytherin girl was introducing herself to him, while writing down her answers.
With a small nod of the head in acknowledgement Dan tried to ignore her, he did to care who she was and where she had come from. All he wanted to know was whether or not she was going to work and not disturb his class. Dan’s gaze passed over Loren for a brief moment noticing that she was being as stubborn as normal and refusing to work, however he decided for once not to take his anger out on her so readily.
“Miss Black, you seem very ready to talk so either you share your conversation with the rest of the class or you walk up and hand me what you have done so far. What ever you choose I will be happy. And if anyone else has any work please bring it to the front.”
Leaning back on his chair Dan looked around the room one last time before making sure his gaze was fixed on Bellatrix. He wondered what she was going to do, and with her being new whether or not she thought that the head of Hufflepuff would be a push over.
