The class room was silent. The door slowly opened as Dan pocked his head around the door. It was dusty and the smell of chalk dust filled it. Pushing the door opened fully Dan breathed in deeply and inhaled the stale air. With a cough he walked closer to the front raising his wand. With a few simple flicks the curtains were open letting the golden July sunlight flood in, and then with yet another flick the dust vanished. With a content smile he moved next to the chalk board and twirled the small white stick in his hand.
In big rather bold letters he wrote on the board. The chalk broke half way through writing his name and by the time he had finished writing it was a small shard left. Brushing his hands together he looked at his work with a small chuckle.
Professor Daniel Hubbles

Loren was walking very fast down the corridor leading to the Charms classroom, forcing younger students and loitering Slytherins out of her way in her determination to get there early. Charms had always been her favourite lesson at Hogwarts, and the prospect of a new professor to put an exciting shine on things was almost more than Loren could bare. This was, of course, a typical Ravenclaw's idea of a good time.
The door to the classroom stood slightly ajar, and Loren feverishly pushed it open and peered inside. To her pleasure she was the only person to have arrived so far, and with pride to strode in, spotting a tall blonde man sitting behind the teacher's desk. Loren smiled broadly. 'Hello, sir! I'm Loren - Loren Hayes! Are you Professor Hubbles?' She asked swiftly, not having noticed his name in tall white letters on the board.

As the girl entered Dan could not help put smile. He could tell how exited the girl was, in fact that was the same expression he had had on his face when he saw a very rare bird when he was in Brazil. In an attempt to make the girl feel more at ease Dan spun around and read his own name on the chalk board.
“Erm…Yes….Yes I’m Professor Hubbles. Pleased to met you Loren Hayes.” He gave her a small bow as his black robes floated behind him. He had recently had them r-hemmed. He was proud to boost to being the head of Hufflepuff, and the yellow ribbon around the edge proved this. With a quick glance at the clock on the wall his face soon was filled with a smile. “And thank you for arriving on time. 5 points to Ravenclaw, and please take a seat”

Loren's smile only grew, and she happily floated to the front of the room where she took a seat front row and center. There had been a lot of action and mystery as of late involving professors coming and going. Several had been removed by the ministry, some had left, and two had even died. Loren looked at the professor curiously, wondering if he was a genuine teacher or just another lap dog from the ministry. In case of the latter she did not like to ask. All would come clear in time.
'What are we doing today, sir? I know it's only our first lesson but will it be good?' She was leaning forward so much her bottom was off her seat. Her eyes began to dart around the room, looking for any hint of practical magic.

Emily rushed down the corridor, hoping she wasn't late like she had been for Muggle Studies. As she neared the doorway she heard voices, one sounding much like the voice of a fellow Ravenclaw that she had seen a few places before. When she stepped inside she saw that it was, in fact, Loren Hayes.
"Hello, Professor," Emily said with as much gusto as she could manage. Charms was always a good class. She waved to Loren, as she took a seat somewhere in the middle of the room.

As the joy of the Ravenclaw grew so did the excitement inside of Dan. When Loren asked what they were going to do Dan clapped his hands excitedly and moved closer. With a wave of his wand a chair came flying towards him and he sat down opposite Loren with a wild grin on his face. “This is when I get my first taste of being a teacher. The plan is not to do much magic today. We need to learn the basics…so people do not except to do things that are really transfiguration or Defence against he Dark Arts. However I hope it will be informative…”
Dan stood up and walked back to the front of the class. On the board he quickly wrote down the names of the houses and points next to them. By Ravenclaw he wrote ‘10’. “I also hope it will be fun and rewarding. Now Loren as we wait for the rest of your classmates to arrive, I want to see how much magic you can do.”
Looking around the room, Dan saw a hour glass sitting on a high self. With a gleeful smile he pointed it out to Loren. “I want that to come here. And you must not leave your seat.”
As he looked up he noticed yet another Ravenclaw girl enter. “Hello miss….” Dan broke off not knowing the girls name.

Emily grinned as she saw Ravenclaw already had 10 points! This was definitely not like Fagin's class at all! As the professor greeted her, she realized she had not said her name.
"Sorry, sir, how rude of me. Emily Leets." she said.

Loren nodded firmly. From her bag she produced her brand new wand she had recently accquired from Helia Ollivander. It felt smooth and steady in her hand, and the excitement in her peaked as she realised she had not used it before. 'Ah, I know what you want...' Loren smiled, and with a keen eye she pointed her wand at the hour class. Accio hour glass! she thought boldly, and smirked smugly as the glass object shuddered and flew over to her instantly, landing in front of her.
It was then that she saw Professor Hubbles looking behind him. 'Emily!' Loren beamed at her fellow Ravenclaw. 'Isn't it great to have Charms again?' She beckoned her friend closer.

Helia rushed through the halls, past wandering student, and even through a few ghosts on her way to Charms. It would be the first Charms class since... the incident. She still shuddered to think of it... But, the good thing was, the new teacher was supposedly Girty's brother. That was sure to be exciting!
She finally halted in front of the classrom door, took a moment to catch her breath, and the strode in, "Loren! Emily! Seems like the gang's all here," she said with a smile as she sat down at a desk towards the far right.

Striker had entered the room, his long hair falling down in front of his face since he was in a rush to make it to the class, despite having to shower quickly. He entered the room behind a Ravenclaw, seemingly like him wanting to reach the class.
Striker slid behind the girl and entered the room, seeing the black board and seeing the Professor's name and a list of the Houses. Striker looked timidly at the Professor.
'Good Morning Professor Hubbles, and what are we taking advantage of exactly?' Striker asked.

Emily smiled and watched as the hour glass flew neatly over to Loren. After she finished she turned around and greeted her.
"Hey, it sure beats Muggle Studies!" she said happily, and moved closer to her fellow Ravenclaw. Just then, Helia came into the room. This was turning into a great class!
"Hey there," she replied, grinning.

As the other Ravenclaw introduced herself, like he did with Loren he bowed. With a smug smile he then noticed that Loren was conjuring the hourglass over. As it landed neatly on the table he gave a rather excited round of applause. “Oh Miss Hayes that was wonderful. You are at the correct level. From the amount of dust in the room I feared that no one had had a Charms lesson in years.”
Dan gave a small chuckle as he walked toward the Chalk board. “So that is 5 points for Miss Leets attendance, and an extra 10 points for that wonderful cast from Miss Hayes.” Dan gave a small chuckle and made the hour glass float back to its place on the high shelf. With a smile he walked toward Emily.
“Now Miss Leets I do not expect you to be able to cast the same spell mental as you are only a 4th year. But please do try and do the same. Please bring that hourglass to this table.”
Standing back Dan put his hands on his hips waiting to see how well the girl did. As he waited more students enter the room. With a loud cheer he waved at the new students happily. “Hello dear students. Thank you for coming.” He beamed happily at the new students happy to finally see a Hufflepuff turn up. “5 points to both your houses for turning up and an extra 5 for Mr Striker for asking a very wise question. Indeed in lesson questions are important. I could simply be handing out sweets or even money. But no today it is house points.”
Dan looked over at the third Ravenclaw to enter. “I’m sorry Miss…I do not know your name”

*Wow, Ravenclaw really is racking up some points here!* Emily thought happily. Loren was real great at Charms, too. But when the professor asked her to cast that charm to summon the hourglass, she got a bit nervous. She didn't want to make a fool of herself. Besides, she should be able to do this, right?
Pulling her wand out of her bag, she pointed it at the hourglass. "Accio, hourglass." she said, a bit too quietly. The hourglass wavered a little, and rose, but then slowly went back down.
Wiping her palms, she pointed her wand at the hourglass again and repeated the spell, this time, with more strength.
"Accio, hourglass!" The hourglass feebly rose up and came to land on the table in front of her.

She watched as Emily performed the summoning spell, quite efficiently too in her own opinion. She applauded her fellow Ravenclaw softly, then turned as the new professor asked her name. "Helia Ollivander, sir," she introduced herself.

As Dan looked at Helia he heard the voice of the student below him cast the spell. Diverting his attention to the hourglass he watched it weaver but not lift, Dan was about to comment to Emily when she tried once more and this time the hourglass, all be it slowly, floated towards them and landed clumsily on the table in front of them. With a wide smile he picked up the hourglass and tossed it around in his hands.
“I see we have many talent Ravenclaw’s in this class today. Miss Leetes has just won you another 10 points, for she was persistent and determined.”
After writing the changes to the points on the board once again he spun around and faced the class with a smile. Once he had learned the name of the final student in his class his eyes grew wide. “Of course I should have known. How stupid of me. It is an honour to have an Ollivander in my class.” He bowed at the girl and smiled at her.
“Come Miss Ollivander you too need to prove your worth and as a wand maker and head girl I expect you to perform it well. Like Miss Hayes you need to do it mentally but also I want you to have a challenge.”
Dan placed the hourglass back on the shelf and also put his own wand next to it. “If you please Miss Ollivander, can you summon both these objects to your desk?”
