She blushed slightly when the teacher bowed, but knew that he was merely giving her a hard time. She looked over at the shelf where the wand and hourglass lay... 'Okay, you can do this Helia,' she thought to herself. 'If you can mentally summon one object, two shouldn't be that hard...'
She took a deep breath and held her wand out in front of her. She focused carefully on both of the objects that she wanted to summon, 'Wand and hourglass... wand amd hourglass... ACCIO OMNIS!' she thought powerfully. The items shuddered, then shook, then ever so slowly rose into the air. They took their sweet time making their way through the air and onto Helia's desk, and there was a bit of persperation on her brow when she finally stopped the spell, but for having never attempted that before, she was quite proud of herself.

Emily had wondered how Helia would manage it, even if she was an Ollivander and a 7th year! She stared at the items intensively, looking to see if they'd move. And they did! She watched in awe as they both traveled to Helia's desk. Emily cheered as they landed.

As Dan watched Helia summon the objects he could not help but jump with joy. This was incredible. In his first class he seemed to have found the cream of the crop from most years. He clapped his hands widely as both objects landed on the table beside him. Looking over at Helia he noticed her rather sweaty forehead. With a small laugh he picked up his wand and summoned a tissue handing it over to her.
“That was truly incredible. I’m rather impressed with you Miss Ollivander. I award you and Ravenclaw house 10 points….for each item.” With a wide grin he changed the points once more, he knew that next term he would have to be more careful how he handed out the points. After placing the Chalk back by the Board he turned to face the glass rubbing his hands together.
“Ok a bit of theory now. Now please without quoting text books in your own words will one of you tell me what Charms is?”

The 4th year's hand immediately shot up. This was one of the things that she actually knew - or at least thought she knew. She sat there and patiently waited to see if the Professor would pick her.

Dan noticed the egger hand of Emily shoot up into the air. With a smile he walked towards her and nodded her head in want for her to continue. This was tuning out to be a very interesting lesson.

"Charms are a, erm, type of spell that enchants the item in question to do something that isn't...isn't what that object would do, normally." Emily said, without lowering her hand. She quickly brought it down and waited to see if it was the correct answer. Or at least along the lines of the answer he was looking for.

Girty had heard Charms was on again and this time she had a huge desire to go. For now indeed her brother was the teacher. As she walked closer to the class room she could hear her brothers voice and laugh float out of the open door. This was going to be fun. As she entered the room it seemed mainly to be dominated by Ravenclaw’s. With a wide grin she entered the room and walked down the canter aisle and sat 3 rows from the front. Not wanting to say anything Girty sat still giggling as her brother got exited over the spells, that is when she noticed the points on the board. Ravenclaw were miles in front. This was not good.

“Well done Miss Leets. You are on the right tracks there. 5 points to Ravenclaw. Can anyone else expand on that? For example why it is different from other subjects.” As Dan watched on he noticed another student slip into the room. He was about to great them in the same joyful way as the rest of the class when he realised who it was. His smile disappeared and his voice became stern. Folding his arms he looked over at the young Hufflepuff.
“Miss Hubbles you are late. I do not expect that from anyone let alone someone from my own house. You have 1 minute to charm something to redeem yourself”
He moved ever so closer to the table where Girty sat and his gaze became harder, waiting for his younger sister to act.

Panic struck that her brother was acting like this Girty searched her mind. Something to redeem herself by. Her mind raced with ideas and possible charms but she could not get out of her mind the points that were sitting on the Chalk board. As the time slowly ticked away it came to her. Pulling her wand out of her pocket Girty fumbled with it for a moment and then gained a tight grip. Pointing the wand at the board, Girty gave a small smile as suddenly the house names started to flash different colours.
Felling rather smug she looked up at Professor Hubbles and smiled. ‘Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!’ She thought.

Dan looked down at his sister and smiled, giving her a small round of applause. “Well done Miss Hubbles. A successful cast of the Colour changing Charm. Well done. On the factor of me not being bias I will grant you 15 points. 10 for the spell, 5 for quick thinking under pressure, but however you will not get any attendance points.”
After adjusting the scores he turned around to look at the class once more to see if any hands were up.
((OOC I’m so sorry that bit was a rather fast past posting section but I needed to get Girty in the lesson somehow. Sorry))

A Hufflepuff had entered the classroom, someone Emily did not yet know. She seemed glad to be here. But the professor, however, didn't seem to share that same joy. She was puzzled for a bit, until she heard Professor Hubbles say her last name. Hubbles. They must be related!
Looking at the Hufflepuff trying to think of a charm, she wondered what her name was. Then she cast a charm. The houses began to flash colours! Emily grinned. That was some quick thinking.

After the intrusion by Girty, Professor Hubbles looked around the room. The question must have died thanks to his sisters intervention. With a small he looked around the room and rephrased the question. “So we have established that Charms enchants items to do things that it would not normally do. So then if that is what Charms does…what does it not do? For example is turning a goblet into a rat Charms, or is making a Pineapples dance across a table charms, how about spells that put out fire?”
He looked around the class wondering if his question made sense. “Is charms a lot like any other subjects then? Would it be possible to sue those skills in this lesson?”

Emily turned her attention back to the professor and the question he had most recently posed. She thought for a second. Turning a goblet into a rat, or vice versa...well that wasn't too hard to figure out, at least she supposed not.
"Turning a goblet into a rat is Transfiguration, right? Making a pineapple dance would be Charms though. At least I think so. So while Charms is different it could also be similar, I suppose. Because, in a way, it's making an object do something it wouldn't normally. Which links it to Transfiguration, because it turns an object into something it's not normally...at all." Emily stopped, she hadn't exactly thought over her answer first. She also realized she hadn't raised her hand.

Helia bit her lip for a moment. Although Charms was a very versatile branch of magic there were specific characteristics that made it very different from other types of magic. She began mumbling to herself, as she often did when she was thinking hard about something "Transfiguration is and isn't the same as Charms, they both manipulate objects, but Transfiguration is the art of turning one thing into something else... Charms is more the actual enchantment of the object itself, like turning a whistling tea kettle into a singing one, or moving things about a room without having to move yourself..." she smiled to herself as she wrote these thoughts down on a piece of parchment.

Striker had beamed at the points given to him, then he walked down the back of the room and sat down. He had watched as points were given to Ravenclaw, then upon arrival Prof Hubbles had made, evidently, his little sister to cast a spell. He smiled at what Girty did, the points a pleasure to see on the board.
Striker heard the question from Prof Hubbles and with a queasy feeling in his stomach he raised his hand. He wanted to add more onto the Ravenclaws answer, and didn't wait for the professor's reaction.
'Sir, any spell we do can be classified at Charms, but each spell does something different. Transfiguration is the physical transformation of matter of objects, whilst charms is the broader class with different spells ranging from gravitation to enchantment.' Striker said, thinking about each word he said to see if he had said anything new. He didn't. He had a sudden idea, hoping that he was right in the assumption. 'Each of us are capable of Charms, but the effect our wands have on the objects we enchant, levitate or charm in general differs from the different types of wands we possess.'
