Dan’s vision suddenly became obscured by a tea cup floating in front of him. He started dumfounded at the levitating cup for a second before reaching out and gingery taking hold of it. With a bemused smile he looked down the table to the other members of staff and saw Bree drinking from an identical tea cup. With a cheesy grin and a wink in thanks Dan turned his attention to the new arrival.
Dai was a teacher that Dan had not talked to much, the passing comments in the corridor and waves in the staff room was as far as it normally got. With a small hello back Dan took a sip of his tea, it was strong just how he liked it and not too much milk. However the silence between the two of them had become to much and he knew he needed to say something.
Placing the tea cup by his empty plate Dan turned around to look at Dia Owen. She was seemed a pleasant women in their brief encounters in the past, and it was not a painful task to look at her. After looking her over a couple of times Dan managed to think of something to say, even if it was a rather dull subject.
“So Dia how are your classes? I have been finding very little time to spent by myself, the work load this time of year is crazy.”

Dia didn't feel comfortable with the way Daniel was looking her over but, then again, she rarely felt comfortable around men. She blushed at his gaze and pointedly stared into her cup as she drank her tea. It too was just as she liked it, sweet and black. She put the little cup down and noticed Daniel's tea was different and she couldn't help but wonder how Bree had done it.
Her hot cheeks brightened her pale face. She finally looked at the man next to her, sweeping her hair behind ear, and smiled at him. She had always found him attractive, and from all the chatter she heard she was not the only one. But she would never say such a thing out loud, not even to the dark.
She blinked her blue eyes for a moment, not understanding what he was asking but she soon understood. "Oh," she said, frowning at her cup as her hand went to lift it to her lips, "they are going very well, thank you. My classes have seemed to shrink recently but that means less on me and more individual attention for the ones who do decide to come." She smiled sheepishly and her eyes darted from his, not knowing how to proceed.

Dan could tell that Dia was uncomfortable around him, he did not know weather it was because he was looking at her non stop or because his reputation out did him. With a small nod of his head after Dia had finished Dan picked up his tea again taking a sip before swirling around the rest of the contents while he thought of a way to end the silence. However for some reason the only thing he could think of was the cups of tea they had in their hands.
“So you like your tea black….I like mine strong but for some reason I find tea with no milk has an after taste to it that I simply can not stand. It may not be as bad if sugar is in it….but then I really do not like sugar in tea. I think it simply makes it too sweet, maybe that is just me not having much of a sweet tooth however…”
Dan broke off, it suddenly came to him that he was rambling on about tea. It was then a very rare thing happened, Daniel Hubbles turned slightly red in the cheeks. Looking away he turned back to gaze over the hall trying to calm himself down, cursing himself for being able to think of nothing better to disuse other then tea.

Dia was sipping her tea when Daniel mentioned her black tea. She looked at the dark liquid and smiled. She looked up and opened her mouth to answer his question but Daniel did not stop talking. She quickly closed her mouth and watched her tea, listening and thinking. The way the tea swirled around her tea cup was captivating and it held her attention as Dan rambled on about tea.
She was smiling at her cup but it disappeared when Dan stopped talking. She looked at him, worried that something was wrong but nothing seemed to have gone aray. She sipped her tea again, still looking at Dan. "Black tea is easier to make," she said simply. One day, while she was in Romania she had run out of milk and drunk her tea without it. She hadn't had milk ever since.
"Your sister," she said softly, "she is a very talented witch. You must be very proud?" She didn't know why she brought Girty Hubbles up but whenever she saw Daniel she thought about Girty. She smiled a small nervous smile at Dan and sipped her tea, which seemed never ending and never cooling.

Sarie blinked realizing she had just been staring off in to space. Hoping that no one though she was staring. She saw two teahers talking. She sighed. She no longer intested on eating any food so she pulled out her wand. "Imgroagreo" then the the apple she pointed at swelled. NO instead of an apple it was now the size of a smalll garpefruit. SHe smiled at her work. Now only if she could do this in class "reducto." then the apple shrank back to its normal size.

Vic watched as Dan made his way to the table. Try as she might though her eyes seemed to travel over him taking in every inch. Most of the time she did it willingly and knowingly but sometimes her eyes just had well they had a mind of their own. Biting her bottom lip hard she forced her eyes to shut and sat there a moment taking a few deep, calming breaths before opening them again and deciding that drinking her tea would probably serve her much better.
Soon though there was something else to draw her attention and that was the interesting goings on between Daniel and Dia. The two seemed to well to be hitting it off rather well, Victoria smiled at this figuring that this school was more and more interesting, things seemed to be happening all around whether you could keep track of them or not. For example somewhere not too far away there was a student causing an apple to swell in size.
Never a dull moment, she thought to herself.

Dan gave Dia aside ways glance as she mentioned Girty, it seemed to be everyone’s favourite topic to discus his sister in his presence, and Dan was always willing to comply. Placing his tea cup back down on the table Dan turned once again to look again at Dia, determined not to make such a fool of himself as he did last time.
“Yes Girty is doing the Hubbles name proud. She is a true Hufflepuff and I know that she will work hard to uphold the pride of her house and name.” However Dan gave a slight frown after he finished his sentence, he had said something that disturbed him slightly. “Strange.” He murmured. “I sound more like a Slytherin banging on about doing the name proud….I suppose all that matters is that she is happy and is able to do what she wants in life.”
Dan looked at Dia for a brief moment before managing to muster a small smile. There must have been something in this cup of tea that was making him so out of sorts, Dan had always said that being a Hufflepuff and being proud of it was the key however he now seemed to see a different side to his argument. Has his gaze went past Dia and to the other members of staff Dan noticed the new Keeper of Keys Victoria smiling to herself. Dan seemed to be captivated for a brief moment before realising that he really should pay his attention to Dia who was sitting by him.
“So Astronomy that is an interesting subject, well apart from the late nights.”

Dia smiled knowingly at Daniel as he spoke of his sister. She could tell he had a fondness for his sister that was irrevocably, undeniable strong. It made her smile at him as he continued on about his sister. Dia too felt warmed to Girty Hubbles for she was a caring girl. Who wouldn't like her?
She sipped her dark warm tea and continued to smiled at Daniel. It was an enduring trait but she would never admit it to anyone. Come to think of it there was only one person she had ever been completely open with and it had left her broken hearted and alone in a foreign country with no money or home. She had survived that, she knew, but she was never the same open person.
She set her cup down and looked over the children. "Astronomy is indeed interesting," she smiled, her face warming as she looked back to Daniel, "I've always loved it. It's a way of getting an aerial view of everything that has and is and might. It's truly wonderful and never dull and it always tells ..." she trailed off. She had gradually gained steam in her rambling on and done a Dan on him. She blushed and looked into her tea.

Acelin grinned at Alexis. "Yeah," she grinned, "but this one deserved everything he got." She crossed her arms and leaned on the table. She didn't like slytherins at the best of time and that one was being down right nasty. She had to do something, she just had to. No one else would help her, no one else would believe her, so she had to stand up for herself.
She glanced sideways at Rus. He was holding Kellcie's hand. Ace looked at Alexis, a playful smile on her face, and she wanted to 'ooo' aloud at how cute the two were together but thought better of it. Rus wouldn't take too kindly to her doing that, she thought, glancing at him again. "So," she said to Alexis, "have you been getting up to much?"

Ginny walked into the Great Hall after finishing up her afternoon nap. For some reason she was so tired lately, it seemed that stress was knocking her out cold all the time. As she opened the doors she noticed how packed and noisy it was. It nornally would have bothered her but tonight since she was still feeling so tired it was a very good thing. As she walked past the Ravenclaw table she noticed some girls having a conversation and she smiled thinking how nice it was to have someone to talk to and to confide in, lately she had become a bit of a loner as of late.
She reached the Gryffindor aisle and sat down right next to a first year she knew to be called Sarie. 'Hello there,' said Ginny with a slight smile on her face. As she looked over at they younger girl.

Vicky's violet eyes were once more wandering around the room as she noticed one of the Weasley's walk into the hall. She always did admire that gorgeous red hair, it marked them as different in a beautiful way. A lot of people thought the same of Victoria because of her unusual eye color. As Victoria's head fell to her shoulder she had a feeling come over her like someone was looking at her so she slowly turned her head and noticed Dan's eyes on her though very briefly. Another huge smile could be seen on Victoria's face because she enjoyed being looked at and she enjoyed being looked at by attractive men even more.
Wishing now that he had come sit next to her Victoria had to be content with the glance her way. Perhaps there would be another occasion where the two of them could talk a little. Sipping her tea she took another chance and glanced at him again, which led her to think to herself that the two of them definitely needed to meet.

Ginny smiled being adressed so politely by the younger girl. 'Yes it's Ginny you're name is Sarie right? I've seen you around hagining out in the common room. You're a first year right?' She was pretty sure she was but that old saying about assumptions always made her think twice before making them.
'Where the real food so far?' she thought outloud as she picked up a piece of fruit an orange to be exact. Peeling the skin she heard her stomach growl she had not thought about how hungry she was until just that moment.

Alexis started to laugh when Acelin asked her if she was up to anything. Alexis was probably the dullest person she herself had ever met. The bookworm's idea of a good time was reading a good book before shutting off the lights for bed. A lot of people had started making fun of her but what the heck did she care. She did what she liked and she managed to keep her nose clean, unlike some and she looked at the Slytherin table as she thought this.
She was being rude though, Acelin had asked her a question and here she was looking dirty at they Slytherin table, turning her attention back she responded to her friend, 'Acelin I've been up to nothing literally, I need a life,' she finished laughing once more because that was true she really did need a life. 'What about you haven't seen you around that much.'
