She wanted to ask who the person was, but she knew that it was something too inquisitive and most definatly dangerous to ask, so she slouched in her chair and doodled the question into her notebook, then thought of a question she could ask, "How is the combined third soul able to remain completly oblivious to the other two energies trapped inside him... or her?"

"You said there was a third person, in the driving seat, so to speak," Grace perked up again, now very interested and emotionally involved in the outcome of this lesson, "we wouldn't know who that person was, would we? Well, not until, or unless, the other two started at each other, right?"

"There were many, many spells cast to ensure that he, it was a he, that much we know, never did notice. But to be even more sure... a boy of the same age as the person who carried Harry Potter and Voldemort, a boy who was seen as the magical prodegy of his time, was trained and entrusted to watch and guard the boy. Though the name of the vessel is hidden even from me, the guardian's name is no secret. One of you may have heard of him, even though he was murdered a long time ago. Erich Aubry. "

Something clutched at her mind. She had only heard the name here and there, never really paying attention to it, but she had never liked it when she heard it. It sent chills up her spine and made her brain itch. "How was he murdered?" she hadn't even meant ask it but the question was there none the less.

"He was murdered by a friend of his... another boy his age, who was jealous of his magical prowess. His name was Rainer... something. Or at least, we assume he was murdered. He vanished, and when the Ministry tried to question his friend, he fled into hiding in the Muggle world, never to be heard from again. We don't...we don't know what happened to the boy who housed the souls. Without their guardian, they surely would have resurfaced by now, if they still existed, so we feel safe enough telling you this story."

'Rainer?! Rainer our charms teacher?!' she thoguht hysterically. She tried to keep a calm composure however, "It... it wouldn't happen to be Rainer Freundschaft, would it?" her voice had a slightly unsettled waver to it.

The hat was silent for a moment, before chuckling. "No, no, it couldn't possibly be. Your Headmistress wouldn't give someone a job without a very through background check, and he wouldn't dare come back to the wizarding world, even after such a long time. No, I'm sure it was another Rainer. That Rainer would be very old at this point at any rate, and your teacher is only just twenty or so."
Behind him, Ethelion looked unsure, but said nothing.

"Yes, yes... surely..." she said, trying to assure herself that the hat was right. Something didn't sit right with her though. She began scribbling furiously into her notebook, making sure not to spew out her conspiracy theories this time. Perhaps she'd ask the professor a bit more about this later, but not now. No need to get her classmates as paranoid as herself.

(( I should say... if anyone wants to learn more about the plot being hinted at in this lesson, they should go read the 'Algernon Sleeps' thread, in Charms.))

Grace had held her tongue, listening, acknowleding with slight nods, and exploring in her mind. The names meant nothing to he, except that her neighbore at home had a brother named Erich. "So, sir," Grace said slowly, "does this mean that you don't know where the two souls are?" Though what was really bothering her now was how they could be certain that they had not already left this ... world.

Lisa listened intently, her interests completely captured by the hat. She idolized Harry Potter, just as any other average Gryffindor fangirl, she admitted ashamedly, though this was new. She had heard stories upon stories of Harry Potter slaying Voldemort in numerous battles, coming out as the victor. But this?Biting her lip, she glanced at the Ravenclaw, suddenly wondering about this Rainer character. But, Hogwarts was always safe, wasn't it?

Somehow, the hat managed to look embaressed. "Well.." It stammered, "Not.. exactly... but we're sure it's gone." He ended curtly. "Class over." The hat slumped down, looking for all the world like nothing more than a ragged old wizard's hat. Ethelion stepped forward, picking it up. "Right... like it said, class dismissed." He told them, but his eyes remained on Helia, examining her suspicously.

Grace haad never been upset by the end of a class. "Professor?" she said, picking up her books and walking towards him, "Professor? Does that mean that there is no way to find the souls? Now that the guardian has been lost?" Then she remembered herself, "I'm sorry for the outburst, sir, I know you said class was over. But is there anyway to find them?"

Ethelion looked away from Helia, glancing toward Grace distractedly. "Er, what? Oh.. Well, like the hat said, since the guardian is gone, we assume the souls are gone too... otherwise they probably would have broken free by now."

Grace smiled at the Professor and nodded. "Thank you, Professor," she said and turned on her heal, purple hair swishing, and walked out of the class.
