The hat waved its tassle dismissivly toward Fin. "One of the many blindnesses of the young. You'll grow out of it, believe me." A thought glinted at the edge of its conciousness, and it turned sharply toward Draco. "A Malfoy, aren't you?" It asked, more amused than coldly. "It'll be Draco this generation. Going to keep alternating forever?" It laughed, then turned away, toward Helia. "Admireable forsight, Miss. 10 points to Ravenclaw. You're right. There are still people around who might try. But your professor and I are almost certain such a thing is no longer possible."

"Hey hey hey man, you can't just dismiss me like that! You just know I'm right, that's it! That's why you avoided my statement you old rag!" Fin said, baiting the hat.

Girty giggled at Fins out burst at the hat. This will be a fun lesson. Girty then looked at the hat willing it to continue. She did not dare speak in its presence.

Ethelion straightened up, advancing on Fin, the hat silenced by his outburst. "That hat--" He began, face red with anger, pointing his finger in Fin's own face, "Is many hundreds of years older than you will ever hope to be. It is also wiser, smarter, and in all likelyhood better with the ladies. You will respect it, you will not second guess it, and you will be silent unless you have something worthwhile to say. 30 points from Ravenclaw, and it'll be more if you say another word."
He retreated back behind the hat, leaning against his desk and glowering at Fin.
The hat coughed deeply, ruffling itself. "Er... right, well as I was saying, " it began again, "We believe that it would be impossible to bring him back. Of course, this is not an entirely positive thing, as it also means that we will never be able to bring Harry Potter back, as we all hoped we could..."

Girty nodded as the hat spoke and as questions floated in her mind but none made much sense. As she opened her mouth one of the questions slipped out unsure if it made any sense. "Would bringing him back help then? I mean help solve some of the questions about that time?" She broke of releasing the rubbish she was saying. "Sorry" she whispered and slumped back into her chair.

"Stupid old crummy hat," Fin mumbled. "Stupid teacher and his stupid stories, stupid..."

The hat ignored Fin's mumblings, turning to Girty with something like a smile. " No reason to be sorry, good Hufflepuff! There is nothing more valuable than an inquisitive mind! Bringing back Harry Potter would... answer many questions about where he and Voldemort have been all this time, about where Voldemort is if he stil exists, and if Harry Potter exists then he does, but in the years after the two of them were sealed inside the chosen vessel the best wizards of our age tried time and time again to discover a way to extract his soul without freeing Voldemort's as well... and it was deemed impossible. So freeing Potter would be informative, but you must remember that many, many people loved Harry. And that was the most important reason to try to free him. 10 points to Hufflepuff for the good question."

Grace smiled at Girty. But then she frowned. "Sir, how could they still be alive? I mean, it's been such a long time since then, that I don't see why they would have wanted to without having shown themselves. As far as I remember, Voldemort did, but only for a time till he could return to power. If he still exists why hasn't he returned?" Grace could not believe she had just blurted all that out in such a short space of time but it posed her questions and explained why she was questioning so.

Helia started mumbling, thinking to herself, but speaking. Her family had passed down a... well, a myth of sorts, about a prophecy about the two wizards, "One cannot live while the other survives... but if they're not exactly living, if their souls are somehow trapped, they can both survive, feeding off each others powers until one is released, but by releasing one of them, the others power would also be released since that's the only way they were surviving. So really, if you were able to pull one of their souls away from the other, reincarnate them as it were, you would, in a way, be bringing them both back... unless you could somehow seperate their energies and still keep one soul whole..." she looked aorund her, finally realizing that she had been thinking out loud. A blush rose in her cheeks and she quickly buried her red face in her notebook.

Girty looked over had Helia stunned. "Wow" She whispered. She had never thought about it that way. Her mind was now swirling with ideas. She turned back to the hat and professor urging it to continue.

Molly snorted awake near the edge of the room, her greasy hair dishelved and her nose flat from where she had been snoozing on it. It remained upturned, causing her to resemble a buck toothed pig. "Ooooh? That is interesting..." she mumbled at Halo, doing her best not to sound sleepy. Standing up, she moved over to sit next to Girty.
She really had to stop falling alseep in lessons.
((sorry i've just come in. :S))

Ethelion and the hat, although it had no eyes, both turned to stare at Helia. "How--" Ethelion began, but the hat inturrupted him, speaking low and softly.
"You're an Ollivander, aren't you? You... Well." It nodded, bending the pointy tip down once, then turned back to the class, Ethelion still watching Helia curiously.
The hat spoke again. "To my surprise, your Ms. Ollivander is entirely right... I wouldn't have guessed anyone knew. Yes. To contain Voldemort, Harry Potter imprisioned himself with him. The interesting thing... the thing I'm quite sure even this extremly intellegent girl, 50 points to Ravenclaw for that, by the way, what I'm sure even she doesn't know... is that they were imprisioned inside a person."

Helia sunk even lower behind her notebook and mumbled, "It was only a guess..." she now wished she'd been more careful to keep her mouth shut when she was thinking, the way the Hat and Professor Ethellion were staring at her rather scared her slighlty. She returned to her usual inquisitive self, however, at the mention of where the two souls were incapsulated. "A person? Wouldn't that be dangerous though? Two souls forever at war, battling inside... and I suppose, in a way, against a living breathing person." she could only imagine how painful that would be.

Grace smiled at Helia, her logic made all the sense in the world. 'Imprisioned inside a person', she heard. This too puzzled her. "That sounds painful," she mumbled to herself. "Like a split-personality, sir?" Grace asked, though she knew it was foolish.

The hat shook its tassle, saying no. "No... You see, both souls are dorment inside the body. The body has... its own soul, of a sort. It was created out of aspects of both souls, and this third soul is in control, the other two locked inside, beneath it. But you are correct, Ms. Ollivander. It was very dangerous. If the two souls were to... become aware of themselves, or if the third soul, the human they were imprisoned inside was to become aware that the others were there... the results could have been disasterous. 10 points to Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff each for good questions."
