Helia sat in the middle of the long bench that ran beside the Ravenclaw table. Every three feet or so on the table there a piece of pale blue parchment with bright blue lettering on it that read: [glow=lightblue,2,300]Members of Ravenclaw House As Quidditch captain, I request that anyone wishing to join the team this year find me and tell me which position they want. Position openings are as follows: Keeper: Helia Ollivander Seeker: Andrea Riley Beater #1: Keifer Brently Beater #2: Emily Leets Lead Chaser: Freya Jenkins Chaser #2: Russell Parkhurst Chaser #3: Loren Hayes Currently everything is on a first come, first serve basis. There will be six replacement spots, one for each player on the team. If the position you want is not available you may choose another one, or be the replacement for that position. More information will be sent out once the roster is filled, Helia Ollivander, Captain [/glow]
Now she was jsut waiting for someone, anyone, to tell her they wanted a position on the team. Merlin, she'd even take scorned players from other houses at this point. She just wanted to have a team this year.

Kam dragged his feet across the Great Hall floor, his eyes drooping. He had stayed up the previous night finishing up a particularly nasty essay and found a seat near a girl at the table whom he had met once or twice around the castle.
A piece of parchment caught his attention, and he raised an eyebrow, before pulling it closer to him. His eyes seemed to brighten and he read it over once more.
He turned to the girl curiously. "You're the captain, aren't you?"

"At your service," she said with a nod. She noticed the interest in his eyes as her read over the paper, "Want to join?" she asked hopefully. She needed everyone and anyone that was willing to join. Last year the team had been her, the seeker, and one beater. Suffice to say they were disqualified during the last match. She refused to let that happen this year, she would not let it happen this year. Even if it meant getting Head Master Moncrieffs permission to accept players from other houses she would have a full team.

Russell walked into the Great Hall and glanced up his table. It was pretty bare but two students around his age caught his eye. They were huddling around a piece of parchment. He walked up behind them and read it over the boys shoulder. "Quidditch?" he thought aloud, "neat! Where do I sing?" he asked smiling his lob sided smile at the captain.

"Simply sign on the dotted line..." she said in a very 'used car salesman' sort of way, "...right beside the postition you want and it's yours." She was surprised at how well this was going. If there'd been even half this much interest last year they'd have had a suitable quidditch team.

Russell smiled and nodded at the dark-haired girl. Then, pulling out a quill and keeping his eyes on the parchment, he scanned the open positions. "Hmm," he said, then scribbled his name next to the word: chaser.
"There we go," he said and straightened up. Well quidditch sounds like fun, he thought, something to do instead of nothing that seems to prevail during my days. He placed his quill back into his bag, jumped across the table and sat across from Kam and Helia. He looked up and down the table at the food. "Anything look good today," he asked.

"Brilliant!" she said happily. The team seemed to be shaping up fairly well. They had at least one player in each position, and that would surely be enough to play a match or two.
She watched as the new Chaser seated himself comfortably on the other side of the table, then looked at the array of dishes laid out. "Most everything's good, but I'm partial to desserts," she said, grabbing a nearb cupake and biting into it. "Mmm, chocolate. My favorite." Probably not the healthiest eating habits for an athlete, but she could always work it off later chasing down wand supplies in the forest.
"I'm Halo, by the way," she said, realizing she hadn't introduced herself.

Russel nodded. "Russell, but you can call me Rus, if you feel so inclined. It's good to meet you," he said. "Muffins? hmm, sounds good." He stretched over to the muffins and picked up one. He bit into it and nodded at his fantastic find. "Carrot and bran," he nodded.

She nodded, thoughtfully munching on her pastry. "So how long have you been playing quidditch? Or was it a sudden immpulse to join for the lack of anything else to do around here?" she asked with a smirk. There wasn't much to do around the school as far as entertainment went, but the professors had been trying with the school newspaper and such things.

Russell smiled. "Awe, well, you see," he leaned on one elbow towards the two opposite him, "I'm not actually a student here. I'm an undercover scout, looking for fresh talent." Then he began to laugh at his lame self. "Na, I'm just kidding, lacking anything."
He finished his muffin and moved onto a plate chips which was next to him. He began to shove them into his mouth one by one. "And you?" he mumbled through a full mouth. He swallowed then said more audibly, "how'd you get into being captain? You the only one interested?"

She laughed dryly, "How did I get to be captain? Well, this year the Professors picked captains, so either they all really like me, or they all realy hate me," she raised an eyebrow and nodded her head. "At this point I'm aiming at the second one."
She knew that the Professors didn't hate her... at least she hoped not, but her work load was killing her. At this rate she was hoping for spontaneus combustion before N.E.W.T.s; she could only imagine what kind of stress related illnesses would befall her then.

Russell smiled and nodded. "The work is getting pretty tough," he admitted, shoving more chips into his mouth, "and with N.E.W.T.s just around the corner it's getting rather hairy! But I'm sure you'll do just fine! You are a ravenclaw after all!"
The chips were done and he was still hungry. He stretched for chicken pieces and put them on the empty plate in front of him. He then reached the other way and took a few sandwiches and also put those on his plate. Then he smiled, "we'll be fine!" and began eating again.

"Yeah, I'm a Ravenclaw..." she said in a slighlty disheartened tone before turning her attention to a six layer red velvet cake. She took a slice and slowly munched on it, looking around the hall for more potential quidditch players.
She watched as he gathered more food from around the table, onto his plate, and shook her head. "Yes well, if 'Under cover scout' says I'll be fine then I suppose it must be true," she smirked and rolled her eyes.

Russell laughed. That was a good one! he thought to himself. He stuffed a sandwich half into his mouth and chewed. "Indeed!" he mumbled. He chewed thoughtfully, thinking of something important he was supposed to be doing but couldn't remember what. He shrugged off the thought and carried on eating.

((Helia, you might want to hold tryouts for a new seeker since Erika is gone))
