Loren looked up at the enchanted ceiling, its clog of grey clouds mimicking her thoughts exactly. She rapped her fingers on the scrubbed wood table top, distracted. 'You know, I'm not entirely sure. I've always been attracted to the idea of being a chaser, but I've never been on a team before...' she was silent for a moment before quickly snapping back to reality. 'Sorry,' she gave a small laugh and smiled. 'I just love Quidditch, you know... such a beautiful sport.'
Resting her chin on her hand, Loren fixed her gaze securely upon Russell so as not to drift off into a day dream again. 'So how long have you been chaser, Russ? I assume you're lead chaser as well...?' With her free hand to reached forward and picked up a slice of toast, biting into it slowly.

Russell sniggered slightly into his glass of pumpkin juice. "As much as I made to admit it, lead is far from what I am. I've been chaser for oh, about fifteen minutes," he looked at his bare wrist, smiling goofily. "I've always wanted to play for the team but only got the courage, if you will, to sign up when I walked past Halo and Kam this morning. My impulse was slightly to blame, to be honest."
Rus smiled at Loren, as she ate her toast, over the edge of his glass. He drained it and set it down gently. "I think there is space for another chaser and we also need a seeker, if I remember correctly. You should come to practice, whenever it is. Halo did mention but I wasn't really listening." He was being brutally honest now and stuffed a muffin into his mouth to shut it.

Loren laughed sweetly. 'Well don't be too skeptic about your own role too soon, Russ. Its early days yet, and by the looks of it you are the first chaser to sign up to the team, and I expect you're more experienced then I am.' She folded the piece of toast in two and placed the rest of it in her mouth, chewing with mirth. Loren had always had a very big appetite, but was the kind of person who, no matter how much they ate, never gained an once. Loren prided herself on such a trait.
She was about to pick up a slice of bacon when she saw that Russell's lips and chin were flecked with muffin crumbs he obviously did not know were there. She smirked for a moment, biting her lip and trying not to laugh before she reached forward. 'You've got - you've got a few crumbs... here...' Loren brushed his chin and lower lip fleetingly with the tips of her fingers, hesitant suddenly, hoping she had not invaded his personal space. His stubble had tickled her hand and she blushed slightly.

Russell saw Loren's hand extend to his face, and for a moment he paniced. But then her heard the word crums and he relaxed. He stuck out his strong chin a bit, so she could reach easierly, and smiled smugly. "Thanks," he said still smiling. "That's very sweet of you."

Loren was relieved when he did not rear back with wide eyes and a disturbed expression. 'Well I couldn't let you walk out of here with chocolate muffin all over your face,' she said with a lopsided smile, finally picking up her strip of bacon and dipping it generously in brown sauce. There was a flourish of light suddenly and Loren looked up to see that the enchanted clouds above their heads had cleared a little, a broad patch of blue suddenly appearing as sun beams settled down on the House tables. It was a shame they were not real, Loren mused. It was obviously going to be a warm day.
'Looks like flying conditions are top notch today,' she said to Russell, jabbing a thumb at the ceiling. 'Have you managed to observe any other team practices yet...?'

Rus watched Loren and her strip of bacon with much interest. Fascinating! he thought, just fascinating! Then she said something, "hmm," then he saw her thumb pointing up. "Mmm," he said nodding his head. "Indeed it does." He continued watching when Loren spoke once more. He shook his head, "I keep getting chased away and they haven't been practicing much as far as I can gather. So we ca still make a come back! I'd say!"

Loren laughed airily. 'Well Slytherin are just a complete mess as far as I'm concerned, and Gryffindor don't even seem to have a full team yet so I have no doubt they'll be dropping out of the running some time soon. Our only real threat is Hufflepuff. They're a tight nit group but I don't think they'd be up to facing a few fresh Ravenclaw moves...' Loren had been so immersed in commentating the current Quidditch situation she had not noticed Russell watching her with strange interest. She hesitated in taking another bite of her bacon. 'You alright?' she asked, a little paranoid.

Russell forcefully pulled his intense gaze from what Loren was doing and looked at her. He nodded and said, "oh yes! But what you were doing was just so interesting. Sorry! I won't watch you eat." With that he looked up and down the table and found a plate of scones nearby. He took a few and put them on his plate, adding syrup and cream to them. Smiling at his food, he picked up his knife and fork and began to eat.

Loren raised an eyebrow at him, wondering if he was making fun of her eating. A particularly blinding ray of sunlight overhead distracted her though, and she looked back at her plate, eating a litter slower than before. 'Oh yuck...' she muttered, throwing the cold strip of bacon down onto her plate. 'It's all hard!' Quickly picking up a flagon of pumpkin juice and downing a little. Her eyes suddenly cast over the rather fluffy looking scones that Russell was lavishing with cream and sweet golden syrup. She bit her lip, eying them longingly.
Reaching over to the plate where Russell had got them from, she was saddened to find that he had claimed the last few. 'Those look good,' she hinted shamelessly.

Russell was just about to shove a big mouthful of scone into his moth when Loren dropped her bacon. Rus, with his mouth ready to bit and his hand aiming for his mouth, looking at his food, stopped. He froze. Then Loren was looking at his food.
Slowly, Russell put down his fork and sat up straight. He tapped the corner of his mouth and said, "you got a little something there! It looks like drool!" But eventually, Rus gave in and held out his plate, offering Loren some. There were quite a few on his plate but he needed his strength, he had Fagin before lunch!
