Today was the first Quidditch match of the season and the new set up of teaming the houses together, an interesting decision but Girty did not care as long as she was up in the air; the sound of the wind whistling past her ears was something she would never trade. The team talk had been short and before Girty could even think straight they were hovering on their brooms, shafts of sunlight breaking through the cloudy sky, the distant smell of damp earth possibly meaning rain could come and spice up the game.
But non of this mattered at the moment, Girty’s focus was on the quaffle that had just been thrown into the air. Eyes fixed upon the ball Girty urged her broom forward and reached out the snatch the quaffle up in her arms before the opposing team. With one hand on the quaffle and the other on her broom handle Girty dived down closer to the ground to get away from the mass of bodies that were around her. She could hear someone coming up behind her, not wanting to see if it was a friend or a foe Girty looked up and saw a blur of orange and with a whistle to get their attention she threw the quaffle in their direction.

Finally, the first quidditch match of the season! Ellie was ecstatic. As she walked out onto the pitch she could hear the cheers of the houses. It was amazing. Ellie looked around at her teammates. They were trying a different approach this year, mixed teams. Ellie was happy about it know, but she wasn't sure how happy she would be once they were matched to play with Slytherin, however today was a good day. Ellie would be playing with all her best friends. She knew together Fay and Bray and Ellie could make magic, and quidditch was no exception. Ellie mounted her broom, waiting for the whistle. At a glance to the sky she could see the clouds coming in over head. She hoped that they would play fast and beat the rain. Ellie hated playing in the rain. It was so much harder for the seeker to see the small snitch. However, it would just make her play harder.
Pushing off the ground as the balls were released, she saw everyone soar a head of her. Elie smiled as she saw Girty gain possession. This was going to be a good game.
Continuing to rise into the sky, Ellie soared a few feet above everyone else. She had a better view from up her. She looked left and right. At least the small amounts of sun shining through didn't cause a horrible glare. Ellie was able to see straight without squinting. No sign of the snitch yet, but Ellie did slow laps, watching for any beaters trying to get testy with her.

With narrowed eyes, Erys Grace maintained a careful grip on her broom - latest model, fastest out, ha! beat that Girty - already gaining speed as the Hufflepuff caught the quaffle and started for the hoops. Swerving to avoid somebody, whos identity was unknown to her, the Slytherin chaser heard the whistle and predicted the pass. The animagus shot forward, with the hopes of intercepting it before it reached the other team's chasers. If she caught it, Erys would tighten her grip, nose-diving and lifting up to whizz inches above the ground. Keeping an eye on her peripheral vision, the prefect would spin and maneuver across the field, getting closer and closer to the other team's hoops.
"Hey! Keep 'em off me." Erys shouted to her team mates, spinning out of the way as someone made a move for the quaffle in her possession. If a chaser on her team was open, the Slytherin would pass it, but if not she'd take it all the way herself, assuming someone didn't stop her. Digging her claws into the handle of her broom for a firmer grip, she hugged the ball to her side, all the while glancing around for an opening. She was so close to their hoops! Looking to her left and seeing a chaser on her team, Erys put more strength into her arm, holding eye contact before throwing the quaffle at them.

At seeing a blur of green easily catching the quaffle Girty swore louder then she had ever done before. The game had not even been on for a minute and her competitive streak was coming out. With a look of pure determination on her face Girty pulled her broom around and kept her eyes focused on the Erys who had stolen the possession of the quaffle. Weaving in between fellow team members and opposing players Girty sae Erys look around, she was trying to find someone to pass too…now was the Hufflepuff’s chance.
Following the Slytherin’s gaze Girty saw her target and lowering herself on her broom she zoomed off in that direction just as Erys was pulling her arm back. The wind was whistling past Girty’s ears and turning her head slightly she saw that the ball had now left the Slytherin’s hands. Lifting her hands up off the broom handle Girty could only hope she had enough speed to get there in time.
Her fingerer tips grazed the sides of the quaffle and she tightened her grip like a vice before lowering it towards her chest. Twisting the broom around Girty tucked the ball under her arm, shot Erys a small smile before heading off towards the Slytherin/Gryffindor goals. For some reason Girty could not help but feel Erys would not just let her fly away so looking around Girty spotted one of her fellow chasers in the distance. Pulling her arm back Girty flung the ball towards them hoping that this time they would keep possession.

[Shouldn't we have like.. special "quidditch team" colors? Like.. Orange for HuffleClaw and Purple for SlytherDor?]
Bradyn grinned. First game of the term already, it seemed to sneak up on him but he was well prepared.. he hoped. The lad couldn't really contact his chasers to get some practice in, but he played all summer with his sisters ( what else but Quidditch could get the Reeds together to take their angers out? ). Soaring up quickly to his spot at center hoop, he quickly glanced across the field noting each ally and each foe. A few
He silently cheered as their team won the quaffle first, but that glory was quickly taken away. Stiffening a bit, he focused more on the other chasers, checking which ones that Erys would most likely throw to and preparing for the off-chance that she'd take it to the hoop herself. 'I'd be very much like her, taking all the glory for herself.' Clenching and unclenching his fist a few times, he adjusted his wrist guards so he could be prepared for a catch. The first goal would certainly not be scored in these hoops.

{ Come on all you chasers on my team! Erys cant do this alone! ^^; And.. If I break any rule or whatnot, please tell me, as I'm used to playing beater and only managed to get chaser this time. Thanks. <3 }
Her lips spread into a smug smile as she heard Girty swear quite loudly behind her, but for Erys Grace the pride was short-lived: already the Hufflepuff had intercepted her pass, the same move the Slytherin used on her. Oh, so its going to be like that, is it? Lurching to a sudden stop, she wheeled around, her hair flapping wildly behind her as she rocketted after the opposing chaser who was in possession of the quaffle. Determined to get it back, she managed to swing beside her the moment the ball left her hands. Curling her lip, the Slytherin didn't even quit moving, hurtling after the ball as it soared towards the enemy chaser. Rolling to miss a bludger, she eyed the pitch testily, glaring at the beaters, "Sleep any more and you'll fall off your broom!" She snarled loudly, still whizzing after the quaffle. 'Accidentally' shoving into them as they caught it - for she couldn't stop her broom in time, with how fast she was going, at least that was her excuse - Erys nicked the ball as surprise jostled their grip.
Assuming this was all shifting in her team's favor, the Slytherin twisted around, sticking her tongue out at Girty as she gave the other chaser a wide girth. Meaning she'd loop around the edges of the pitch, hoping to shake any followers. Hearing wind whistle behind her, unaware if it was someone on her team or not, Erys was closer to the hoops now. She doubted she could make the throw. It wasn't far, but she was a chick, and there were limits to their upper-body strength. Pulling off one of those cool moves from the movie (the one where the Slytherin captain drops the ball and hits it with the end of his broom, and it goes in the hoops. w00t.) Erys slammed the wide end of her broom against the ball, watching as it spiralled quickly towards the left ring. Hopefully someone wouldn't get to it in time and intercept it.
{ Gah, I should be beater. D: Are we allowed to do that? }

There was a blur of purple yet again and there was Erys barging in the way of the other chaser and taking the quaffle off them. Girty pulled her broom to a stop and took a deep breath trying to keep calm, it would be no good to lose your head this early in the game just because there was a chaser just as good as her on the pitch. This sense of frustration came out in a laugh when Erys poked her tongue out at her and that was like a matador waving red in front of a bull.
Watching Erys go wide Girty kept in a straight line and took the more dangerous route down the middle of the pitch. A bludger just missed her by inches but she kept focus, even when she felt someone’s foot hit her on the head. (Girty was sure it was by accident) Trying to find Erys again Girty saw her getting ever closer to the hoops, Bray was there ready to protect the hoops but Girt did not want it to get that far. Suddenly Erys was jumping off her broom and using it as a bat, that was…impressive. However the Hufflepuff had no time to watch in awe, she had a job to do. She was getting closer when the sound of broom hitting quaffle rang out around the stadium over the sound of the crowds. It was a powerful whack and Girty had to stretch out if she had any hope of reaching it.
The world was upside down and Girty had the quaffle in her hands but was clinging onto her room only by her interlocking legs. Looking around bellow her Girty prayed a spot of orange would appear and today seemed to be her lucky day. The blood was rushing to her head and she did not have look before her legs lost all feeling and she would fall, it was now or never so with as much force as she could muster from such and angle Girty limply threw the quaffle bellow her.
((Erm…you have to pass the quaffle twice before you can have a shot on goal, but I like the move you did haha!!!
Ooo I do like the idea of special team colours….that would be rather cool.))

Jamie-Syrus found himself elated to be in the air once more. Wind blowing through his hair, the building anticipation of who was likely to win the match, who could ask for more in one day! However Jamie found his thoughts disturbed, he had been paying little attention and found himself roused by the whistle.
Shooting off he kept an eye on the quaffle, it kept passing to and fro between Girty and Erys. Feeling slightly annoyed at himself for not actually being involved so far, he followed close behind as Girty once again caught the quaffle. Jamie checked behind him for both bludgers and any opposition chasers. Thankfully there were neither. Facing forward once again, he looked on in slight surprise as Girty hung upside down on her broom. Realising Girty was about to drop the quaffle, Jamie shot forwards, though diving to a slightly lower level. He was a few feet behind, he tensed his leg muscles and clinging tightly to his broom, he revolved until he also was upside down also. As Jamie drew level with Girty, she dropped the quaffle. Which he caught with little effort. Grinning at her he shouted above the rush of the wind “Come on Girt! Lets show these dudes what real chasers play like!” And with this he flipped upright once again and shot off towards the ground, perhaps to confuse the opposition, or simply just for the fun of it.
Jamie grew close to the ground, so that he could see his own silhouette below him, looking over to his right, he saw a yellow blur. He threw the quaffle down at the ground and watched as it bounced of the turf and towards the blur of which he had assumed to be Girty.

Girty was more then relived to see Jamie appear bellow her, she could hear the bloody pumping in her ears and she was starting to go dizzy. At the sound of her cousins mumblings about being proper chasers Girty gave a laugh and followed his example and reached up to take hold of the broom handle and after a second or two of hanging on like a sloth in a tree to catch her breath she heaved herself back onto the broom and zoomed down towards the ground after Jamie-Syrus.
Her orange robes billowed around in the wind behind her and when was only meters from hitting the ground head on Girty pulled her broom up and quickly caught up with her fellow chaser flying side by side. With a grin over at her fellow Hufflepuff Girty watched as he bounced the quaffle on the ground and towards her and with ease Girty reached out and picked the ball up. They continued to skim the grass getting ever closer to the hoops, the grass was replaced by sand and with a nod of her head Girty veered off the left and pulled up.
This was her chance, Girty could throw the quaffle in through the hoop and score the first goal of the season…but it would just be another statistic…Jamie had never scored a goal in a proper Quidditch game before. Tossing the quaffle into the air Girty thumped it almost like a volley ball in the direction of Jamie.
“You can have the honour Jamie!”

[The snitch flys past everyone and magically changes the colour of their robes to Orange for HuffleClaw and Purple for SlytherDor. =P I agree.. Goood plan.. so the robes have always been that colour, heh.]
The snitch had been circling the Slytherin stands for several minutes before it suddenly dived down into the lower pitch. It shot past several purple and orange blurs, and hovered about 20 foot from the ground.

Jamie was ecstatic to see that Girty had been the blur running along side him, and that she had cottoned onto the plan. Their summers of quidditch training had definitely amounted to some use not just their own amusement after all! His pass had been easily received, not a hint of fumbling for the quaffle even for a second.
Skimming along the grass, he heard a slight whistling behind, he drifted slightly to the left just in time to observe a bludger zoom past him. Jamie had half expected this, it was unlikely that they would have been allowed to get this close to the goal posts with so little effort.
Glancing over to his right to see where Girty had got to, he noticed she had bean to pull up. Following suit he pulled up sharply and drew level with her once again. By the time Jamie had grown level with her, she had thrown the ball up in the air and was about to hit it towards him. Preparing himself, he tensed his legs and twisted his upper body to face her. The quaffle shot towards him, he had to pull up slightly to make the catch, but it was simple enough.
“Why thank you dear cousin! The next one shall be yours!” Jamie shouted with glee above the noise. With a fleeting smile, he placed one hand upon the handle of the broom and looked forward at his target. The open goals lay ahead of him. He swerved to the right slightly, aligning himself with the left hoop. And with a steady arm, threw the ball in the air, and punched it firmly through the hoop.GOAL!0 - 10 - Possession is given to Gryffindor/Slytherin. Dan had not been able to sleep well in recent nights as he had had the most annoying cold in the world, however tonight it was for a complete different reason…Quidditch. He had such a sense of pride when he watched his Hufflepuff’s play and even better was that his sister and cousin were in the team. Dan was sitting in the professors stand half an hour before the match even started just waiting, watching the students file their way in draping their banners over the side and breaking out into chants. The atmosphere was amazing when the players walked out onto the pitch and Dan was on his feet clapping like his life depended on it shouting at the top of his sore throat would allow.
The Orange team got off to a good start and Girty was in the heart of the action and having a good tussle with Erys. He finally went silent when Girty was hanging upside down on her broom, his mouth dropt open and he stood up jumping over the rows of empty seats in front of him and leaning against the barrier almost to get a better view…luckily Jamie-Syrus came to the rescue and they were off again, orange blurs bouncing the quaffle.
“I taught them that!!!” He shouted with pride to anyone who was willing to pay any attention to him. He was about to explain how it worked better with three people when they dived up getting closer and closer to the goal…Girty was going to shoot…he raised his arms in the air in expectation…she passed it to Jamie who shot at the left hoop….and it sailed though!
Jumping up on the first row of benches Dan thumped the air and started to cheer at the top of his lungs. He watched as the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw fans joined in with the jubilation and Dan could not wipe the smile off his face.
“COME ON YOU ORANGES!!!!”

Felicity adjusted her gloves as she walked out onto the pitch. The roar of the crowd greeted her, and a wide grin spread across her face. Oh, this was going to be fun.
The team consisted of mostly Puffs, with only Bray and herself as Ravenclaws. Ah well, they would still kick some arse. The Bradyn, Ellie and Felicity trio worked well together, as they found out in charms, so that was another good thing toward their team.
Fay mounted her broom and pushed off, just letting her broom hover there for a while. She let her gaze wander, searching for that infamous bludger. Her beater was clutched in one hand, ready and waiting for her to smack that bludger into the next century.
Before Felicity had gotten a chance to use her awesome beater skills, their team had made a goal. The Ravenclaw shot her fist into the air and grinned widely.
"Go Jamie!"

Ellie was caught up in the game basically between Girty and Erys. She had half a mind to go and whack Erys on the head, however, as it was most likely illegal, the fifth year decided against that.
Realizing that she was supposed to be looking for the little golden blurb, she turned her attention back to her search. She stopped in the middle of the pitch and did smaller circles looking around. She hadn't spotted the other seeker yet, and she wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing.
She saw rushes of orange below her, finally they were playing like a team. However, Ellie was sure if the purple robes beat out her team, Bray was sure to save it!
Ellie saw her team race toward the Slytherin goal hoops. A boo came from the Slytherin stands and Ellie looked over to frown at them. As she watched them she saw a small ball darted above them. Ellie was off without a second to delay. She raced over to the stands, making the spectators shout as she almost hit them. The snitch darted down ward and Ellie followed it. However, the snitch got in amongst blurs of purple and orange and Ellie lost sight. She pounded her fist on her broom. Again she headed above the action to watch.
A cheer erupted as Ellie reached her look out spot. A wave of orange player started to cheer. Ellie cheered along with them! "Nice one!" She shouted. She knew her team would kick butt.
