[Occlumency] Lesson 1

[Bijou Le Fey]

Bijou smiled at Hikaru and then turned at the sudden entry of another student. She seemed to know Professor Tanaka well and it made Bijou feel a little shy, but determined to continue their conversation she inquired, "What is Tokyo like Professor Tanaka?"

[Prof. Hikaru Tanaka]

Hikaru smiled and leaned against his desk. "Tokyo, hmmm, how should I explain? Well, Tokyo is wonderful. It's a huge city, there's so much to do. And everyone is so kind. There's hardly any crime. There's clubs, bars, malls, basically all the stuff that you would find in any major city. I guess the hard part, is trying to keep the wizard and muggle communities seperated."

[Sarie Thimble]

"Alright,Hikaru. " She said putting down her things. She felt like she had broken a Taboo by call a teacher by their first name. She had read about school that you called all the teachers by their first name they we're allowed to know the last so that if a student didn't like the teacher they couldn't find them after they left school but at Hogwarts it was different not how it work. Maybe it would tick of the Ministry if it did she would keep doing it. Things where changing at Hogwarts. Some of them good some of them bad.

[Bijou Le Fey]

Bijou nodded thoughtfully then ventured," So the muggles don't suspect that there are wizard at all, though you manage such a close proximity, that is a well run system. I wouldn't mind seeing this some day, it would be an interesting view of how coexistence can be achieved." Bijou had started to muse allowed towards the end and though it slight embarrassed her it wasn't the end of the world

[Emmy Stormbranch]

Emmy stepped slowly into the classroom which was meant to be an Occlumency classroom. Emmy was really nervous about this subject, it was very interesting and she wondered if she could pass it. Emmy saw Sarie and another girl which she didn't know. Emmy greeted Sarie. Emmy said with a nervebreaking voice: "Good morning mister Tanaka.." Emmy gave a little look at the oriental looking professor and sat down in the front of the class.

[Prof. Hikaru Tanaka]

Hikaru smiled at the new arrival, "Good morning miss. And please, call me Hikaru." He looked around at the class, "Alright, we'll give the other's a few mimutes to get here, then we'll get started. In the mean time, I'd like to ask you all a question, why did you choose to take this class? I don't want an answer from the book, I want an answer from you. Why are you taking the class? Is there a particular reason, or are you just curious?"

[Sarie Thimble]

Sarie didn't know if she wanted to say it out loud. Emmy already knew. "I have a mind reading problem and I was hoping this class could help." She muttered hoping he heard her the first time so she wouldn't have to say it again.

[Emmy Stormbranch]

Emmy searched for a good reason. She didn't know the answer herself, Occlumency had something mysterious. That meant she was curious. Emmy the Ravenclaw wanted to give a good and full answer.

Emmy smiled a little cheesy smile when she had formulated her answer. "I would like to learn Occlumency, it has something mysterious and I think it's handy." She said with calm voice. She hoped it sounded the way it had to, with good and deep thinking formulated.

[Jac Shaw]

Having had made instructors in this particular field of magic, Jac's grounding in Occlumency was everything she had taught herself (plus her few memories of the past lessons). She thought that this was, in the long run, the most useful subject she could take and if the teachers were going to be useless she would have to find use for herself, teaching herself. She had heard that there was a new teacher for this subject and, giving him the benefit of the doubt she decided to give the class a shot.

With her paint splattered ruck sack over her shoulder, Jac entered the class and noticed there were mostly Gryffindor's in the room. Smiling, Jac walked deeper into the class. "Hey Sarie," Jac said, smiling at her then she noticed the Ravenclaw in the front row, "Hiya Emmy." It was great to have people she liked in a class with her. "Hiya Prof," Jac greeted, sitting more of less in the middle of the class. "Name's Jac, pleased to have a teacher for this subject again." She smiled broadly at him.

Bijou decided that the best option for this class now would be to take a seat and pull out her gear, as it seemed that this was the time to begin the class.
So she slid off the desk and rounded it to take a seat, eying Professor Tanaka happily, waiting for him to become the teacher he had been trained to be and to call them to order and like so many other teachers become so what over whelming and brilliant.

[Jac Shaw]

Jac was taking her note book and ink bottle and quill when she caught movement out of the corner of her eye. Putting the book on the table, Jac looked up to see Bijou standing up. Jac brightened up grinned broadly at the Gryffindor sixth year. "Bi!" Jac said, smiling broadly at her blond friend. They had met only recently and Jac already liked her. "Hiya," she said and nodded her head to the desk next to her. "Pull up some grass ... oh, I mean a seat." Jac winked at the girl before laughing at her little joke.

[Bijou Le Fey]

Bijou turned and saw Jac sitting at a desk further back and grinned, the class was going to be great now. She had met Jac earlier, and found she really enjoyed her company. "Hey Jac, didn't see you come in," she greeted her friend cheerfully as she walked over and deposited her things on the offered table," I think i will pull up a chair," she added cheekily. She had used a similar line and it seemed that Jac had enjoyed the line so hell it was brilliant, Bijou could not help but grin wider.

Jac smiled at Bijou as she sat down next to her. Since their first meeting Jac had been rather tied up in the Library and had not been spending as much time in the common room as she might have other wise so the few times she had seen Bijou since then had been brief 'hellos'. Never the less, Bijou got a great big smile for Jac. She had her autumn colours in her hair that day and her green eyes were bright.

"I'm sneaky that way," Jac whispered, one eye raised, in answer to Bijou's comment on not seeing her enter the room. She laughed and looked around the room searchingly. She wasn't looking for anything in particular but she was just looking. Looking at all the faces around and at the teacher. "Looks like we're going to have a full class today," Jac said softly, her sarcasm dripping with delight. She did so enjoy being with new people.

[Prof. Hikaru Tanaka]

Looking around the room and deciding that apparently no one else would be coming, Hikaru raised his voice above the chatter. "If everyone could please direct their attention to the board, I'd like to introduce a few basic rules of the classroom!" Turning, he wrote the rules on the board,

Rule One: No talking out of turn, raise your hand before you speak

Rule Two: Keep hands, feet, and all personal items to yourself!

Rule Three: No teasing, name calling, or any other sort of bullying!

Rule Four: If I want an excuse, I'll ask for one!

Rule Five: I will give one chance and one chance only! Break a rule again, and it will be points off. Break a rule a third time, and it will be five additional points off, plus a detention!

Putting the chalk down, Hikaru turned to face the class, "Is there anyone who does not understand these rules? Speak now or forever hold your peace. And for anyone who does not agree with these rules, and has no intention of following them, well then there's the dooor." He said gesturing towards it with his hand.

[Jac Shaw]

Jac looked away from her new friend and looked to the Professor by the black board. She read the rules quickly as she read fast but slowly a frown came to her face. She slowly raised her hand, taking heed of the first rule, before she spoke. She coughed before asking, "Prof, why do we need these rules? I thought it was good manners or is there a reason that the need to call someone a name may come up?" Others may have thought Jac was being rude but she was the sort of student to question when she didn't understand. Whether her manner annoyed the teacher was entirely up the the teacher. Not her.
