Jac winked at Alex as she turned around, her name coming at her like the tendril of an alerted Devil's Snare. Smiling at the Professor, Jac lifted her hands in defense and shook her head, her multi-coloured hair swaying around her face. "My apologises, Prof," Jac said. Leaning back in her chair, Jac hung an arm over the back of the chair, sitting askew, and linked her fingers together so the other arm hung lazily. She watched as more students came in, winking at Erys as they connected eyes, which oddly enough they always seemed to do.
The mercurial Professor stated his questions to the class again and Jac, looked around, waiting for anyone to give an answer. Sighing as she realised that no one would, Jac sat straight, dropping her hands to her lap before raising her hand. "Occlumency is, by definition, the magical defence of your mind against any that would penetrate it with the intent to gain information or influence." Jac's hand was back in her lap as soon as the professor looked at her. She snorted a laugh and added, "Basically it's the defensive counter to Legilimency," she shrugged, "basically."

Hikaru nodded with a smile. "Excellent answer Miss Biggerstall. Take ten points for Gryffindor." He looked around the room, "Now can anyone give me an accurate description of Legilimency?"

Sarie rasied her hand. "Legilimency is an attack on some one else's mind." She looked at Jac who had just had scored their house ten points.

Hikaru smiled, "Another brilliant answer. Well done Miss Thimble. take another ten points for Gryffindor." He looked around the room with a smile, "Now, I'm going to ask you all a question. Why did you decided to take Occlumency? And I don't want you to say, 'so I can block people from getting into my mind' I want you to give me a personal reason as to why you are taking this class. Did it sound interesting, do you need it for a particular career field, do your parents want you to take it? Why are you taking this class?"

Ten points. Score! Jac smirked, as though she had won a hand-to-hand fight with a man three times her size and body weight. It was a very nice feeling, to earn points in stead of loose them, as it was customary for the Biggerstall children to do, all except Lex of course, he was far too quiet to rebel. Never the less, winning points was always a gratifying feeling for Jac.
The next question was just as simple and just as before Sarie beat her to it. It was a decent answer this time, though Jac was certain she would have added a few more expressive words in there just for effect. But Sarie had done the job creditably and when she looked at Jac, the seventh year winked at her. 'Weldone,' she mouthed before looking back to the prof.
This was an interesting question as Jac would like to hear what everyone else had to say on the matter but she knew that everyone was tight lipped about that stuff with professors. And why should they be? Jac wondered to herself, looking around. Jac shifted in her chair and coughed before saying, "I not only thought it sounded like a nifty skill to have," the Gryffindor began, "but I am going into the Magical Law Enforcement Squad so its a skill that will definitely put me one notch above the rest."

Sarie smiled at getting points. She gave Jac the thumbs up."I have a mind reading issue I hoped this could help me stop it." She was nervous about telling a teacher about her issue but Hikaru wasn't like the other teachers.

Kendal thought it might be interesting to take Occlumency. So here she was sitting in the back of the room listening to people tell the professor why they were there. She didn't know what she was there she just enjoyed taking new things learning new things finding out about the world around her. Become a well-rounded individual as her mother called it. Kendal wondered what she should answer and after giving it some thought she decided on the truth. "This to me is something new, something out of the norm so I thought I'd try my hand at it. I enjoy learning new things this to me is something new."
