He walked over to the Gryffindor who had just came in, "Close your eyes and try to clear your mind. Just stay relaxed." he whispered so he wouldn't disturb anyone else. He then walked back and sat on his nice wooden desk.

Ian blinked once, before grinning and getting into the stereotypical meditating pose. "Clear my mind..." He took in a deep breath, and let it out slowly -- seeing as that was what everyone else seemed to do.
However, as soon as the Professor had walked away to check on other students, Ian peeked through his closed eyes so you could barely tell they were open, and leaned over to Jac. "The Slytherins are lucky don't you think?" He said, his expression serious. "With their minds that are naturally always empty, they must find this assignment easy. No wonder so many of them took this class."
Then, his serious expression faltered and he smirked, trying to silently shift his body into a more comfortable position.

"Oh come'on dude! Do you think I was born yesterday?" he said turning back at Ian, and most likely disrupting him. "Just because cause the teacher isn't watching doesn't mean he isn't paying attention. Remember this room is very quiet, so I can hear you. Also, if I wanted to I could see your thoughts." he said not angry, but disappointed.

Jac opened her eye slightly to squint at the professor. He didn't seem to be too happy. Jac lowered her head and smiled at her lap. She nudged Ian and let out the tiniest giggle. "Oh dear, you've gone and done it now!" she whispered. But then quickly straightened her face and closed her eyes properly.

Ian sulked. "Sorry Professor," he said dully. He hadn't really done anything wrong, except maybe disrupt Jac, but it wasn't his fault he was not one who could easily clear his mind.
Plenty of the girls around seemed to be able to meditate easily (He figured it was all the yoga that women seemed to do) and he pouted as he dragged his quill across the page of his textbook. Closing his eyes, he let out a sigh and cleared out his mind.
After a moment, getting bored once more, he tipped his chair back a little, a few thoughts escaping into his mind. In truth, he didn't exactly want any more professors disappointed with him -- He apparently wasn't doing well with his Head Boy abilities, getting into trouble left and right -- so he did try his best to concentrate; only peeking once or twice.

"OK, if everyone can stop for one second, I need all of you attention." he said looking around and seeing most of the students were happy to stop 'meditating' "Now I want to see how many of you can keep from looking or letting any thought back in while I am doing stupid things, but first some time to ask me any questions or you can talk to your friends for five minutes." he said knowing that Ian would cooperate if he could talk to his friends for a little while.

Jac was happy to open her eyes. They snapped open and she looked at the professor. "Professor?" she asked, raising her hand, "what do you mean, silly things?" She couldn't imagine such a stern man doing anything like she thought he was intending to do.

Ian perked up immediately, sending the Professor an appreciative glance. Then, he rocked back on his chair a few more times, before coming to a sharp stop and turning to Jac and Girty.
"Five minutes to chat," he said with a broad grin. "No more pretending you're clearing your mind to get me out of your hair, Jac." His voice was teasing as he twirled his quill idly in his hand.
Though, he was interested in the silly things the Professor promised as well, and was almost put out that he had given the five minutes to chat right before he was about to do something, undoubtedly, humorous.

Jac smiled at silly Ian and nudged him with her elbow. "I don't need to get you out of my hair," she giggled. "But you can be so annoying when I'm trying to concentrate." She bunched up her nose and stuck out her tongue at him.
As she did she changed her hair to a bright orange and her eyes to her favourite emerald green. She enjoyed being ale to change her appearance, it was always fun to do something new and exciting. She giggled and leaned on her table. "So, what did you want to talk about?" she asked innocently.

Ian laughed slightly, feigning an offended look. "All those cutting remarks! And here I am, offering a friendly conversation!"
Though, his facade was soon broken as he gave her a devilish grin. "We could always talk about how the colour orange clashes with your tie." Raising a brow, he gestured toward his own knotted neatly around his neck, then to her hair, which was a bright and unusual orange. "Really, Jac," He leaned casually in his chair, glancing at her playfully. "It's Goth's job to distract us, not the other way around."
Though, truthfully, he found the colour rather striking in a good way. However, having him admit that to the ever cheeky Jac Biggerstall was an ideathat was ruled out immeditately.

"Well when it happens you'll know." he said not wanting to say to much, and let everyone talk for the remaining of minutes.

Post by Girty Hubbles on Jun 29, 2007 15:03:04 GMT
Girty had tried to stay low for the start of the lesson, she could not stand the Slytherin’s and was very thankful when the professor ordered silence. Girty slipped into a clam state rather quickly, not only had she had practise in Animagus training she also spent a lot of the time trying to tell Dan to clam down when he was in one of his rages. It was only when she heard the professors voice to open their eyes did she notice that Ian had turned up. Not wanting to disturb their friendly bickering Girty just sat and watched giggling to herself at their comments about ties.
Girty always thought that Hufflepuff house had the worst tie, all the other house ties were bright and colourful, Hufflepuff just reminded her of a bee, and a very flat one at that. With a small sign Girty looked down to study her tie when she realised that it was not around her neck. Knowing she had picked it up when getting dressed Girty carefully began to look in her pockets and her bag but to no avail. As she dropt her bag back on the floor and leaned back on her chair it suddenly hit her, it was in her sock. Leaning down Girty rolled up her trouser leg to revel a very long pair of grey sock which had a tie pocking out of the top.
“No safer place to put anything then in your sock. I used keep my wand in there but my uncle had a terrible accident once when he blasted his own foot off. My mother has never let me keep my wand anywhere near my feet since.”
Girty looked at Ian and Jac, the disappointment clearly showing on her face. With a small shake of the head Girty turned away and began to put her tie on relived more then anything that she had found it.

Ian grinned, eyes shining with mirth. Then, shoving one of his legs out from underneath his desk, he scrunched up the fabric of his pants. "Is that so?" He said, raising a brow.
As if to test out the theory, he grabbed a spare quill from his bag and shoved it inside his own black sock. It was uncomfortable for say a minute, before he got used to it.
Needless to say, he forgot about it entirely until later that evening when getting ready for bed.
But, finding it was a brilliant idea, he gave Girty a thumbs up. "Really intelligent family you've got," he said earnestly, though suddenly frowned. "Though, looks like I'm going to have to start buying longer socks."

Post by Diana Fortuna on Jun 29, 2007 17:35:59 GMT
Diana was clearing her mind when she heard Ian's voice, her head snapped and her eyes narrowed. "Isn't it pleasant that you say we have nothing in our minds and yet... you were the one here late," she hissed. That was stereotyping and God how she hated it when people did that, especially since she was different from a lot of Slytherins she knew. "You know what Ian," her temper rising as she spoke but she was trying to calm herself and succeeded, "Stereotyping is going to be your downfall." That was the best that she could say because she wasn't about to fight with him, she wasn't in the mood and the exercise was to relax not get mad. Her temper was gradually going down and she turned around, to face the front, and took deep breathes. Slowly she felt her body relaxing again and she was back in her state of meditation.

Ian's playful eyes suddenly grew confused as he stared at Diana cluelessly. She had been the one who seemed so much more pleasant down in the forest, earlier, and the abrupt change of heart made him raise a brow.
"Late? I said you were lacking thoughts--" as if to emphasize this, he tapped his temple lightly with his quill. "Not a watch." Then, thoughtfully, he added, "The entire school is based on stereotyping, Fortuna, look at the Sorting Hat."
Though, she had already fallen back into her relaxed state and he gave a rueful smile before shrugging and turning back to Girty, still looking very obviously oblivious.
