bellatrix, still fully convinced lord voldemort was the most accomplished legilimens, sat in silence, waiting for another student to ask a question or make a comment.

Diana was sitting at the side of Bella when she heard her ask a question about Lord Voldemort. Her eyes caught the professors and then Bella's. Hearing the words of the professor she sighed lightly. "Aren't some people just generally better at things like these because of there parent's ability?" she asked curiously. Her parent's were both skilled at Occlumency and Legilimens, so it seemed that it would be in her blood to be good as well, no?, she thought to herself.

"i hope so," said bellatrix. "my family is generally good at all things. it must have something to do with the purity of our blood."

Jac wiped around and glared at the Slytherin who had spoken. Slytherins! she huffed, always think they know everything! "I don't think that's true." she growled, "being obnoxious may be hereditary but skill is home grown.
"Take being a metamorphmagus, for example, there are less then three metamorphamguses per generation. But that doesn't influence who you are. It takes skill and hard work to accomplish something of this magnitude." She whirled back around, facing the front, her hair turning fiery red as it whirled around with her.

"if obnoxiousness is hereditary, then i dont know how you deal with your family," bella replied calmly. her and diana exchanged grins.

Jac breathed, calming her nerves. If there was one thing that grated her cheese the wrong was it was Slytherins. She slowly turned around again and said sarcastically, "what ever do you mean? If you're implying that I'm obnoxious then you clearly haven't met anyone in your own house." She shot the girl a heated look, her eyes flashing a dangerous green.

Andie, who had been watching this little spat with growing amusment now shook her head slightly, gave a slight chuckle, walked over to her friend and put an arm around her shoulder. "Jac, I couldn't have said it better myself. Although... I have to admit, I do have some friends in Slytherin, but... that's beside the point!" She turned towards the Slytherins. "Ladies, unless you're begging for trouble it would be in your best interest to not cross Ms. Biggerstall here." She tugged on Jac's arm. "C'mon Jac, let's go. We don't need waste our time with them." She looked right at the two girls as she said this, daring them to challenge her.

Jac had let her short temper with Slytherins get to her and when Andie put her arm around her shoulders she felt ashamed of her actions. But they bloody well deserved it! she agreed with herself. She smiled at Andie for Jac knew that her friend knew just how short her temper was with them and how hard she would fight to be right.
When Andie suggested they go, Jac grasped her forearm and pulled Andie back. “No,” she said softly, now looking the professor in the eye, “we’re here to be taught and I don’t want to run away from these …” she searched for the word, “people.” She decided that that was the right word, all others that sprung to mind were indecent to be said outside of her own head. “Come sit with me, Andie,” Jac said, looking at her for the first time.

Andie rolled her eyes and gave her a friend a level stare. "Jac? You honestly thought that I was suggesting that we run away? Please!" She pulled Jac over to a seat and gave her friend a serious look as she sat down. "I never run away. From anyone. You know that."

Jac smiled weakly at her friend and nodded. She leaned towards Andie and whispered, "I do know that. I never meant to imply that either. It's just ignorance rubs me the wrong way." Jac glanced slowly over her shoulder at the Slytherins and she sighed heavily. She really could not understand why Slytherins always seemed to want to ruin her day and generally she let them succeed.

[thanks guys... I have to catch up now.. haha ]
Diana looked at the rude girls and smirked. "I'm sorry... but it seems that manners certainly were not passed down to you girls," she spoke simply. They were utterly rude and she could barely stand being accused of being obnoxious. "And dears you don't know all the Slytherins and so I believe when you accuse someone of being obnoxious it should be a fact not based on the opinion of the house." Diana wasn't one to be obnoxious and so she found it odd that they would call her, of all people that. "Truly I am not the one being obnoxious, and never will be so in order for you guys to state that our house is full of obnoxious people.. there I may state that you stand corrected." Diana rolled her eyes at them. It was apparent that they thought themselves so highly that they could not show the least bit of respect to anyone but themselves.
Her blue eyes scanned over them and then met the professors. She wasn't in the mood to get into a duel with two girls that acted immature for their age. Looking back at Bella, Diana sighed. She had too much stress on her mind for this. So she began to read in the book and decided it better to ignore the girls.

Alex watched, he probably would of taken Jac side, only because he wasn't pure-blooded like the two girls. "If you're implying that pure-bloods are better than I guess I failed at life." he said looking at both Slytherins. "I am a half-blood, my father was a muggle, and I turned out great." he said smirking at the Gryffindor and the Ravenclaw. "Also, you can't be prejudice because of another's differences. War's can start by that." he said.

Diana shook her head, "No Professor Goth, I was not implying that." Her speech was clear and truthful. "I meant if your mother or father was generally good at something... don't you as well tend to be good at it... such like Occlumens?" she rephrased her words. She knew that people knew that they were purebloods because of their last names, but she wasn't going to go out and say that purebloods were better. Not even Lord Voldemort was a pureblood, and he was an excellent wizard.

Jac looked over her shoulder slowly as she heard the other girl speaking. She had made a generalisation and realised that this girl didn't fall under the category of obnoxious or loathsome. Quietly, while turning her hair black and keeping her eyes green, she stood up and walked towards her.
She stood in front of the girl’s desk, looking at her read her book. Jac then said softly, controlling her temper, "I'm sorry for that vast generalisation. I've only met one other Slytherin who didn't despise me as soon as they saw that I was in Gryffindor. I'd like to thank you for correcting my rather egregious oversight and I will, in future, only refer to most Slytherins as obnoxious." As she said the last, she glared at the other Slytherin.
She stuck out a hand as a form of apology. "I'm Jac," she added, "by the way. Jac Biggerstall. I can honestly say it's a pleasure." She smiled heartily at the girl, pleased, genuinely pleased to have met another civil Slytherin.

"Well it would matter on how they nurtured the child. If what you would say was true than a lot of people would have tons of bad habits." he said to Diana, at least this Slytherin could keep her own opinions.
