Adam stared at the letter in disbelief. He... wasn't a Carson? He was... adopted? Great! Thanks for telling me mum! he thought angrily to himself. He had recieved the letter a few moments ago, while sittin in the Three Broomsticks enjoying a Butterbeer, the drink however was now all but forgotten as he read the letter once more,
Adam, You remember our good family friends the de Mocenigo's don't you? I'm quite sure you do. Well, in any case, they are your real parents. When you were born they were not ready for a child yet and asked us to raise you and we accepted. Although unfortunately you have dissaponted us and the Mocenigo's by not holding true to the pure-blood beliefs as we have attemepted to teach you. Your true name is Francesco Adam de Mocenigo. We simply took your middle name, Adam and Carson became your surname, thus you became Adam Carson. But as your parents have asked for you back, you will no longer go by that name. When being introduced to other aristocrats, your parents come from a very old, aristocratic family, you will be introduced as Francesco Adam de Mocenigo. While around your friends and classmates, you may use Francesco or Adam, whichever you prefer. You will be coming back to us at the end of the school year to pack up your things, spend a few weeks with the family and then the de Mocenigo's will be arriving to take you to their home in Venice. Which I am sure you will find quite enjoyable.
Your Mother, Isabella
"Dammit!" Tears of anger leaked slowly out of Adam's eyes. "How could they keep this from me?" he whispered, his voice husky with emotion, and laced with pain and anger

Lidia had been walking with a random group of people when they went into the Three Broomsticks. She was laughing at something one of them had said when she noticed Adam. "Hey babe!" She said coming up and wrapping her arms around him. "Adam? Is everything okay?" Lidia asked when she looked at his face.

Adam smiled sadly at Lidia. "No. Nothing is okay anymore." He said softly shaking his head. He hugged Lidia, "How are you doing?"

"Adam, love, I'm fine. What's wrong? And don't lie to me." She whispered, caressing his cheek. Lidia never thought she would see him, of all people, like this.

Adam simply sighed and ran his fingers through his hair as he handed her the lettter. "Maybe this will explain it." he replied in a slightly bitter tone. "It sure as hell explained alot to me..."

Lida quickly read the letter that Adam handed her. "Oh, Adam. I'm so... Don't be sad." She whispered, kissing him gently. "Look on the bright side. At least you aren't one of them. I remember your description of your 'sister'." She said with a slight smile. Deep down she knew how Adam felt.

Adam sighed. "But my real parents are aristocrats! Do you know what that means!? It means, I'll be expected to be perfect all the time, and to 'Uphold the family name and honor'" Adam made air quotes and rolled his eyes. "How could they keep this from me?" he whispered, his voice becoming husky with emotion, as he looked into Lidia's eyes.

"Yes, I know what it means to have aristocrats for parents." She said, tears swelling behind her eyes. "Adam, you are always perfect and any family should be proud to have you in it." It hurt her to see him hurting, but this was something he was going to have to get over. "Did you ever think that maybe they really weren't ready for a child. If they weren't then you would have had a horrible childhood and I probably would have never met you." She said, pulling him into a hug. Every thing's going to be fine. Lidia thought to herself, willing it to be right.

Adam smiled. Lidia always knew what to say to make him feel better. "Thanks." he whispered gratefully. He leaned back and scooted over to make room for Lidia. "Care to join me for a Butterbeer?" he asked with a slight smile.

"I don't know what I did besides tell the truth, but you're welcome." She said, smiling at him. Lidia acted as if she was debating on whether or not she was going to join him. "Well, I'm not sure. You see that guy that I walked in with, he's suppose to be my date." She said, with a disappointed look on her face.

Adam raised his eyebrow. "Oh really? Well it looks like he and I have a score to settle don't we? Because if memory serves me correctly," -Adam leaned down and placed his lips against Lidia's neck- "I remember telling you at the lake a few days ago, that you were mine." He whispered huskily aganst her neck, his warm breath grazing her ear and cheek. His arms tightening around her possesively, a wicked yet playful gleam coming into his eyes "Obviously he's not aware of that. Is he?"

Lidia smiled at him, "Yes, really. Who ever said that I wanted you anyway?" She asked, when he kissed her neck. "Well, I suppose that I could be yours, but it might not last long." He sent chills up and down her spine. There was one thing Lidia hates more than anything and that is being vulnerable. When she's with Adam that's exactly what she is, he could hurt her more than anyone, just because she gave him her heart. Wow, love is so powerful. She thought with a laugh. Lidia did like the feel of his powerful arms around her, protecting her. "He may or may not be aware. I'm not telling you." She said, kissing him harder than she meant to.

Adam, from just one look at her beautiful face, knew exactly what Lidia was thinking. He kissed her gently, "Lidia, I will never hurt you. Or leave you. I love you too much. You know that don't you?" he whispered, staring intently into her eyes.

Lidia sighed. "I know and you know that I love you too. It's just all of those things, are the things that scare me." She said, running her hand through his hair. She couldn't look into his eyes right now. He needed her and she wanted to be there for him, but she wasn't even there for herself half of the time. How on earth could she possibly be there for both of them?

Adam smiled. "Lidia. It's okay, I know you're scared. But you're only scared because you don't have enough faith in yourself. Just let go of all of your insecurities and everything will be fine. I promise." He leaned back into the booth, "Now, enough of this talk. Let's get some butterbeer, then what say we head on over to Honeydukes?"
