Every time he tried to look into her eyes, she looked down. Right now she didn't need the look on his face to change her mind.
"I'm saying that you and I can't be. We weren't meant for each other." She said, hardly feeling her tears.
This time she did look him in the eye, with an annoying Slytherin look in her eyes. "Because I can't lose someone else, I can't get hurt again. I refuse to be as weak as I once was. Please, stop. You can't tell me that you would never hurt me. My family use to tell me the same thing and they hurt me worse than you ever could. Adam, you don't understand. You still have a family. People who love you, I have no one." She said, with absolutely no emotion.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't leave right now? Keep your voice down." She said, running the back of her hand over his cheek. He would never know that she did this for him. She was to messed up to be good for him.

Adam stared down at his lap, his breath started to hitch as he tried to keep under control, finally he looked up, cheeks glistening with tears. "Lidia, you're wrong, my family doesn't give a rat's ass about me, they never have and they never will! Lidia please! I can't live without you!" He looked back down for a few seconds, when he lifted his head up, his eyes were hollow. "What did I do to deserve this?" he asked.

She ran her hands over his cheeks to get rid of the tears. Her heart was breaking for him. Maybe, I can stay we can work through it together.... No, you'll just ruin his life like you did yours. She thought, arguing with herself. "Hey, you didn't do anything. You're a great guy, I'm lucky to have even met you. Being without me isn't that bad." She smiled, kissing him on the forehead. "Plus, what are we going to do if I do stay? Share our problems? That's something I can't do. I love you to much." She whispered.

Adam sighed, "Lidia, that's what we're supposed to do! Couples share their problems, they don't keep them hidden from eachother. How else would the relationship last?" He took both of her hands into his, "Lidia, you've got to trust me. Have I ever given you reason not to? If couples don't trust eachother, then the relationship falls aprt, and I can't bear it if that happens to us!"

Lidia closed her eyes. She wanted to run and hide like you do when you're little. She wanted to hide from the monster that threatened her world. "Adam, you're still a kid. Hell, I'm still a kid. Do you want to know what my problem is? I had to listen while my family was slaughtered. My brother saved me, but he died too... Do you see what happens when you get close to me? I'm surprises they haven't got L.C.'s family yet." She said, her body going numb. Lidia did trust him, she did want to share her problems with him, that was the problem. "Are you willing to risk everything to be with me?"

Adam stared into her eyes, he didn't even have to think about his answer, "Lidia Cullen, I would die for you." he stated with absolute certainty. "Just please, don't push me away."

Lidia looked at him for a few seconds. She kissed him, deep and filled with all of the passion and love that she could give. "I wouldn't let you." She said, standing up and walking to the door. She stopped before opening it, her head down. "If he comes to get me before I get ten steps out the door I'll stay with him. If he doesn't then we just weren't meant to be." She said to herself. Lidia opened the door and stepped out... "One... two... three..."

Adam jumped up and raced after Lidia, "Lidia! Don't go!" he pleaded, as he grabbed hold of her hand, he stared into her eyes, trying to find a trace of the girl he had met the night of the ball. He knew that girl was still in there somewhere, and he was determined to bring her out.

Lidia smiled to herself as she heard him call her name. "I'm not going anywhere." She said, kissing him. "I love you, Francesco Adam de Mocenigo." Lidia whispered, hugging him and not wanting to let him go.

Adam couldn't stop the sigh of relief that escaped his lips, nor did he want to. "I love you too Lidia Cullen." he said, before pulling her into a fierce embrace and capturing her lips in what was probably the most passionate kiss he had ever given her, he broke off the kiss for a brief moment to smile down at her. "Look at us, two teenagers snogging in the middle of the street not even caring who's watching! Life couldn't get any sweeter."

"I'm sorry about that whole thing. It's just..." Lidia stopped and smiled at him. Adam probably knew how sorry she was and how she wished she could just take it back. "So what was going through your head during that whole thing?" She asked, running her finger over his lips. Lidia knew now that they were meant for each other. She loved him enough to leave him, even though it almost killed her. "Life could get a lot sweeter. We just haven't gotten there yet." She smiled as she kissed him again.

Adam sighed. "Shock, disbelief, hurt." he admitted. "But now is not the time to dwell on such thoughts, not when I have you in my arms, and a blue sky above my head." he said kissing her back. "So, wanna go raid some candy bins in Honeydukes?" he asked with his usual mischievous smile.

"I am sorry though." She said, taking his hand and entwining their fingers. It was nice to have back, even though she had been the one doing the leaving. She would make it up to him. That much she could promise him. "Of course! Do I ever turn down candy?" She asked, walking toward Honeydukes.

Adam's laughter rang out into the streets of Hogsmeade. "You know, I never have met anyone who turned down candy!" he answered. "And if they do, they're crazy!" he put his arm around Lidia's waist, and together they made their way towards Honeydukes.

"However, I'm not a fan of chocolate. It makes me sick if I eat to much of it." She said, smiling at him. Maybe, they would be the ones to last forever, just maybe.
