Thom collapsed to the forest floor about thirty feet inside the trees. Gasping for breath he lolled on his back, staring up at the thick, cold canopy. No light was able to weedle it's way through, but Thom could definitely hear the renagade wands doing their best to find a way in - their ranks including his own.
Sitting up, he watch Keifer join him. "Well then, I think we best try that again." he smiled achingly.

Keifer slid down on the floor and laughed. "Well i did it right... i just summoned the whole schools wands... not only yours" he went to the edge of the forest and peaked hi head out, pulling his head back through the trees he went back to Thom.. "I think they're waiting for us" he laughed

Thom gaped. "Now that's just plain evil!" he said.
Picking up a moderately heavy stone, Thom put his whole arm into throwing it beyond the trees and into the light. Within seconds in was surround by feverishly angry wands, all jabbing and poking at it. Thom rub his head, feeling it throb in pain. "I can't believe it, wands hold grudges..." he mumbled. "How are we going to get out of this? The whole school is going to be furious - they probably think we stole their wands!" Thom suddenly grinned at this thought. "Cool."
He turned to face the darkened trees. "We could head in and... go around? We could come out at the vegtable patch and none of them would see us." he suggested. "But I still need my own wand."

Keifer laughed and walked further into the forest. "Wands hold grudges... Who'd ever think of that?" he laughed again. "Accio Thoms Wand" he said as a wand came buzzing through the trees and into his hand. He could still hear the wands flying about. Keifer agreed "If they know it was us you mean" he looked at him "No one knows but me you and Julia"

"And all the gawping first years." he jerk his head back towards the lake. "Thank you..." he sighed, accepting the wand. It stayed still and calm in his hand, and Thom knew that if it had a face it would be gazing up at him adoringly, with big watery cute eyes, pretending defiantly that it had not just commited gross mutiny.
"Right then, off we go - oh..." Thom made to stroll off into the trees, but instantly the gloominess sent shivers down his spine.
For a long, chilly moment he looked at one particular spot between two trees, a coil of mist seemingly making its way through them as if purposefully. Mist - in this weather... at this time of day? Thom pondered.
Gathering what little Hufflepuff bravery existed in him, he set off into the greyness. "Shall we?" He called to Keifer.

"Yeah.. those silly first years" Keifer muttered. "No problem.. at least i did it right this time which is good" He watched Thom stare at his wand "I dont think it will speak..."
Keifer took a step forward but he saw Thom stop. "Whats the matter?" he asked noticing straight away why he stopped. He gazed at the mist through the trees. "That cant be right" Still he pushed himself forward through the mist, once he stepped into it he began to feel very cold and not right.

"Yeah, you know, Keifer, I think you should just..." Thom was beginning to feel paralysed with fear. His stomach was in several knots, his mouth dry, his hands clammy.
He could see that Keifer too had stopped, and that was strange as he had walked forward so effortlessly a moment ago. Raising his wand, he pointed it at the pearly mist. On either side of them it had seemingly grown, but Thom got the suspicious feeling that it was not the same cloud of mist, but rather that several had collect and joined together. "Keifer!" he shouted, sure that something was wrong.
Black shapes began shifting across the dead-looking ground...

He had heard Thom speaking to him but he couldnt say anything back. His mouth had stopped working and his brain had froze. He couldnt even lift his arm, he felt like something had hold of him.
Keifer also heard him say his name, but as the mist seemed to have control of him. He couldnt speak. Instead he peered infront of himself through his silver eyes. He didnt like the feeling he was getting. They werent alone. Keifer saw the black shaped and he wanted to run, but his legs wouldnt move. They were in serious trouble now. He could feel it.

Thom's being seemed to do a back flip.
No, it can't be... that's not possible, they can't survive in this part of the world...
Thom began running towards Keifer, frantically looking at his feet through the mist so as not to come into contact with the dark shapes. They were pitch and smooth, almost silk-like as they caught what little light existed in the forest. They were not swift, but if they got to Keifer before Thom did, then that would not matter.
"Keifer - they're called lethifolds! They eat people! They're deadly - RUN! DON'T LET IT GET A HOLD OF YOU!"

Keifer heard what he said, but he couldnt take his eyes of them. He watched as they came closer. Keifer's whole body seemed frozen. He couldnt do anything, not even blink.
He stood there rooted to the spot as one was beginning to get closer to him. He could only just breathe. His mind was blank and his face was void of expression. The air itself seemed to have lost all breeze.
He began to feel hot, dizzy and lightheaded. He could hear Thom running towards him and Keifer was growing nervous. One of the black shaped stopped just infront of him. He tried to close his eyes but he couldnt. He hoped Thom knew more about these things.

Thom could see it, flat and cloth-like, moving onto the end of Keifer's foot. Flashes of it slowly digesting Keifer into it's sheer nothingness gave him an extra boost of energy. Scooping up a stone as he ran, Thom hurled is at Keifer's feet, satisfied as it landed right in the middle of the creature. It made no sound, as he expected, and watched it coil and squirm on the ground. The others stopped also, their edges ruffling like deadly graceful ghosts.
Grabbing Keifer round the chest, Thom began to drag him into the forest. "Come on, Keifer, you can do it, wake up," he breathed in the Ravenclaw's ear, convinced he'd gone into some sort of open-eyed coma.
Glancing behind him Thom could still see them. But something told him they would be alright.
They were getting away.

Keifer knew what was happening, he just couldnt help it. He finally opened his eyes and said "I.. cant... Move" he looked at the shadowy things and was again enticed by them.
He got to a point of he wanted to stay. Well he didnt want to but something did. He wasnt in control of himself, he kept thinking what the hell is happening? I so dont love this.
Keifer managed to gain control of himself and shrugged free from Thom's grip. They were deep in the forest now, far from the castle. And the was no way to tell which way was back. "I think were screwed" He said. He looked behind him. "I guess we gotta keep moving and you can tell me what the hell they are!"

Thom took hold of Keifer's arm, not in support of the Ravenclaw, but for his own comfort. That was the first time he had ever done something heroic, something for someone else - and now he felt weakened, as if there was a hole in him that was ready to let Merlin only knew what in.
"L-lethifolds," he wheezed as they continued to run. "They're tropical creatures, they're from below the equaitor so I haven't a clue what they're doing here! The best I can think of is that they're some sort of hybrid to lethifolds, a new kind that can stand this cooler climate, which is not good - Hogwarts is going to be a death trap at night if they are..."
They began to slow their pace. "They're like cloaks, really. They just sort of digest people and become slightly thicker afterwards. Truth is, I used to be obsessed with them when I was a kid. I thought they were brilliant..." he said darkly.

"You would, wouldn't you," Erich replies loudly, moving beside them and between trees. He is reading Thom's thoughts casually and flipping through him as he would a magazine on cars or maybe ceramics. Nothing he really knows or cares for. "It would seem you've managed to create a very difficult situation for yourselves. That is, without their wands, the majority of the students and faculty housed in your esteemed institution will be unable to defend themselves. This is a most fascinating coincidence, nein?" Above them the wands are whistling, arrowing down at Kiefer. At least three dart through Erich's intangiblity to reach him, striking at Kiefer's chest and stomach and giving off a ribbon of sparks each time.
"Shall I be generous with my attention and lend you both a hand?" Erich's trees smile around them. The silhouettes are closer and closer and closer. In hunger.

Thom stopped talking and turned slowly to face where he had just walked. The hole that he had felt punched into him earlier by his debut heroics had indeed been real - for something had enter his thoughts and was happy to pass through them. There was a man standing there, just a few feet away, his being not quite ghost, but not quite man. He was something altogether different. "Wh-what did you say?" he asked Erich, not entirely convinced that Keifer could see him too. His attention was suddenly forced above him, and he realised the most determined of wands had broken their way through the treetops. There were not many, but they were plummeting ever nearer, and several had struck Keifer, their magic exploding against his already weakened form. This was not help further but the distinct coldness once more. The Lethifolds were approaching. Looking at Erich, he nodded. "Please - yes! Please help us!" He had no choice but to believe Erich was there. (( Oh, and the Hogwart's healer Cashew Dumbledorable was nice enough to join in with us, so when we get out of here eventually we should go join her thread in the Infirmary. She also alerted teachers in a staffroom thread. ))
