Girty sat down feeling like an idiot. "Sorry" she whispered and started scribbling notes in her notebook.

Faye rubbed her temple. "We haven't discussed them yet." she sighed. "And don't worry, Girty - I was not clear enough."

Grace smiled, "oh yes!''

Faye turned to Grace. "Another Animagus - and I shall stress this: she was on the twenteith century list - was Morgan le Fey, who also went by the name Morgana. Like Falco and Cliodna, she was a bird Animagus." she smiled. "You may be interested on reading up on them, Grace, as you are sure you want to be a bird. You may be able to find out how they did it."

Morgan le Fey, Falco, Cliodna Grace wrote, must look up. She smiled up at the professor, then realized, "Morgan, as in King Arthur's sister?"

"Yes, indeed, Grace." Faye smiled. "And Grace has just reminded me. Although in muggle mythology King Arthur is widely considered fictional, we know him to be real, and it may interest you to know that he himself was an Animagus, his form being a lion. I expect you know which founding Hogwartian he was descended from?" she asked.

Girty smiled. "Just a guess then Professor, was it Griffindor?" Girty really did not have a clue but was simply guessing at every opportunity.

"Godric Gryffindor, yes, Girty!" said Faye. "Five points to you. Although Godric Gryffindor's blood line has always been mysterious, one section of it was sucessfully traced to King Arthur. Harry Potter himself at one point was even thought to be related to Gryffindor. The other founders' lines are a far greater mystery though, as they are not as prestigious in certain historian's eyes, unfortunately." She said with a touch of bitterness.

Gina entered the room, breathing hard. She had completely lost track of time. She hoped that the teacher wouldn't be mad at her, because she desperately wanted to be an animagus. Even though she was a first year and a muggle born, she thought it wouldn't hurt to start early. Sitting down in the back of the classroom, Gina let the hair fall to her face and prayed that the teacher would not comment on her tardiness.

Faye heard a small noise at the back of the room, the sound of a chair scrapping, someone out of breath. She turned and peered into the darks. "Oh..." she spotted the first year Ravenclaw and beamed appreciatively. "I was so disheartened when no Ravenclaws turned up, but here you are." she said as she strode to the back of the room to Gina. "Hello, dear," she said kindly. "I'm professor Vedette. What is your name?"

"G-Gina..." she stuttered, staring up at the professor. She was terrified. In the muggle catholic school she used to go to, if a person was late they would be whacked with a ruler. Gina thought this be much worse in a magic school. She did not want to be hexed.

Faye could see that the Ravenclaw girl was clearly terrified. First years were often worried about the strictness of magical teachers. Giving Gina a motherly smile, Faye sat down next to her and rubbed her back reassuringly. "Calm down, Gina, you are not in trouble for being late. This class is optional, and you can learn at your own pace." she smiled. "Are you looking forward to becoming an Animagus? I'm sure any Ravenclaw could manage it with ease."

Gina smiled timidly. Even though she was kind of uncomfortable with this strange woman touching her, she still appreciated the gesture and reassurance in her voice.
"Yes," Gina blushed. "I want to be an animagus very much."

"Excellent, it's always wonderful to see eager students." she smiled as she stood up. "Come join the rest of us at the front of the room. Carrie is the only Gryffindor here, the same as you are the only Ravenclaw, and I'm sure she'll look after you." Faye began to walk forward. "As I have asked all other members of this class, I shall ask you - what do you most look forward to on this course, and what animal form do you have hopes of becoming?"

Gina looked down at the floor. She hadn't really thought about what creature she actually wished to become. She was raised with animals, and she had always wished that she could be one of them. She wanted to fly with the birds, and swim with the fish. However, the one creature she had always envied above all was the horse. The horse was loving and nurturing, but yet mighty in strength. Se remembered running with the foals, her hair blowing behind her. She felt the beating of their hooves on the ground and the wind pushing against her face.
Finally, she slowly raised her head to the professor. "A horse" she said.
