- POINTS FOR BECOMING A SUCESSFUL ANIMAGI - 150 You enter a darkened room, the stone walls worn and laden with weak flickering torches. At the far end the mullioned window has been covered in a tall and heavy mirror, a thin layer of dust covering it’s surface as if it has not been used in a long time. Shapes move in out of it lazily, dark shadows bubbling and rippling gently, as if lost. Although fascinated by it, you turn your attention to the scarce furnishings, stacks of books and abandoned magical items scattered around the edges.
A large butterfly is perch on the back of the chair before the looking glass, its wings opening and closing gently to reveal its emerald and purple sheen, intricate white spirals decorating its tips. Silently it raises into the air, fluttering over to you quickly, it's dusty scales catching the torch light. As it lands on the cold floor there is a sharp, distinctive crack, and Professor Faye Vedette is stood before you, smiling pleasantly.

Boggleworth bustled into the classroom whistling cheerfully. "Bonjour mademoiselle, ca va?" he asked in fluent French. "I'm Boggleworth and whom do I have the pleasure of meeting?" he asked happily holding out his hand for a shake...

Girty skipped into the room. Out the corner of her eye she had seen Boggleworth so thought it best to follow him. As she entered she saw a butterfly turn into a person. She gave a small gasp followed by a small round of applause.

Faye smiled. "Charmed," she said, taking his hand and shaking gently. "I'm Professor Vedette. And I know you as Mr Boggleworth by reputation. A fine prefect." she said proudly, having been in Hufflepuff herself in her school days. "And Ms Hubbles - lovely to see you." She walked over to the girl and smiled fondly. "I must say, I wasn't expecting even one to arrive. I thought perhaps the idea of finding out you might be a slug would be off-putting, and becoming an Animagi is so difficult." she said, disheartened.
Sitting down, she smiled up at them. "What are your motivations for wanting to do this then?" she asked.

Carrie entered the classroom in no great hurry, and peered around the room with curiousity before taking note of the others inside. Two other students, both Hufflepuffs, had already arrived and had seemingly hit it off with the Professor. Carrie chose not to interrupt their conversation, and just offered them all a smile before taking a seat near the back of the classroom. Animagus Tutoring was something new to Hogwarts, and was something that the Gryffindor reckoned she could find quite interesting as long as she put the effort in.

As Faye talked to Girty, she noticed the Gryffindor slip into the back of the room and move along the wall to one of the empty seats in the darkness. She watched her for a moment, considering, then stood up. "Please, don't hide back there," she said kindly, striding forward a few feet so that she could see Carrie properly. "I wouldn't want you to feel left out, Ms McEwan." she gestured the student forward and waited.

Carrie gave a shrug as the Professor motioned for her to join the others, and she moved herself to a seat nearer the front. 'So, what will this lesson involve Professor?' The Gryffindor asked, wondering whether they would have to learn much theory behind it, or whether they could get straight into learning the transformation techniques.

Faye moved forward a little more and stood next to Carrie. "For starters we will be filtering out all those who aren't appropriate. Any student with a particularly serious criminal record, or history of rebellion at Hogwarts will be removed. It isn't a personal choice of myself, but the Ministry are being very involved. They are worried about the number of runaway Animagus in the public, and don't want me producing more." she sighed regretfully.
"The course will mainly involve a little history and the theory of transforming. We'll get to work on the process of tranforming very soon." she smiled. "What do you personally want to do? Not all of this course is complusory, as there is no exam."

Carrie raised an eyebrow.. it was a rare thing for the ministry to get involved in Hogwarts, and whenever they did it nearly always ended in disaster. Though to be fair.. they did, for once, have a point and she hoped this lesson would be one of the exceptions. The Gryffindor decided to still be a bit weary, noting the teachers choice of words of how the ministry would be very involved.
'What do I personally want to do?' Carrie repeated, allowing herself time to think. 'Well its the actual physical transformation that I am most interesting in I suppose.' She started, thinking out loud. 'The creature you become just reveals so much about yourself and your personality, and I reckon that would just be so, well.. interesting.' She continued. 'Though I guess I need all the history and theory to get to that bit, so I can wait.' She added with a slight smirk.

Faye smiled at Carrie. "Yes - the transformation from human to creature is the better part of this course. I offer the extras simply to make it appear more detailed to those watching." She sat down next to Carrie. "I worked very hard to bring this course here. I think it would be wonderful for your generation to be Animagus." she mused for a bit, her eyes twinkling in thought.
"Sorry..." Faye laughed. "I'm very excited. There are many factors that influence what form you will take - not just your personality or soul. I found that the harder you wish to be something, the more likely it'll be encouraged physically. What do you think you'd like to be?"

Grace walked into the darkened room, her left hand holding open a small book. Her nose was buried in it; it was a wonder she hadn't walked into anyone or anything yet. But as she entered the light faded and she struggled to see the words written on the page. She sighed and closed her book. Grace looked around the classroom and sat down far from the others in the room.

Faye looked round once more towards the back of the room. "My, you are all very shy, aren't you? I should darken the front of my classroom too, shouldn't I? It might encourage you to move closer." she laughed sweetly at Grace, standing up and walking slowly toward her. "And who else has hair like yours? How are you, Grace Marks?"

Grace smiled at the beautiful professor. She twirled a lock of hair and replied, "the hair happened a long time ago but it's still as vibrant as when it happened. And I'm just fine, thank you, ma'am. And yourself?" she enquired.

Faye admired Grace's hair as she spoke. "I'm very well, Grace, very well indeed. I am divorced once more, but I'm hoping one of your professors will make a good suitor," she whispered so that none of the other students could hear. "And your being here is a puzzle to me. Why should such an accomplished witch as yourself need the talents of an Animagus to complete you?" she teased. "Surely becoming an animal would be of no use to you?"

Grace smiled encouragingly at the suitor comment but her smile faded when she heard, "surely becoming an animal would be of no use to you?" Grace looked at the professor, her expression solemn, and said, "not an animal, ma'am but a bird. I'm hoping an eagle or hawk. So I can fly away whenever I want to. I know it will be hard to achieve the specific one I want but I'm prepared to work for it." She looked up at the professor and smiled, "oh, ah, sorry! Dreaming again!"
