Algernon does not try to fight.
Erich's hand presses against the small of his back, propelling him forward with more than the simple manipulation of his legs.
He does not fight, even though they are heading away from Rainer and toward the forest, into which it has been very clear Algernon should never go.
He reaches out to trail his fingers over his couch-book as they pass.
Somehow, Algernon does not believe that Erich will allow him to be killed. At least, he hopes not.

So I see you like Rainer? he begins jovially, his foot passing through a stray kickball. They are nearing the forest and trees shake with indignation. They recognize Erich and, though he is no longer welcome or even in authority of the forest's sizeable spirit, they can do nothing. Already he calls out to its inhabitants and they listen with great intensity at this intrusion. The centaurs especially.
Erich pats Algernon on the back heartily before giving him a gentle shove toward the darkening wood. Tell me about it.

There are the rush of fantasies again, and this time Algernon brings them up of his own accord, even if that doesn't make anything any better.
Erich's laughter, his mocking tone, are they only things which stop him from running instantly.
He stands at the edge of the forest as Erich releases his hold, and although he shoves him forward, Algernon manages, with excellent balance and grace, to remain upright. He braces himself against a tree, and it shivers beneath even his light touch, and Algernon, with dorment, animal instincts, knows the herd are coming.
He turns and runs, then, uncaring of what Erich, or even Rainer, will think of him, as he runs past them on his way to the castle. Past his couch, and past the still melting blocks of ice, and past the great doors, and he doesn't stop until he is in his chambers with the door locked safely behind him.

Watching Algernon dash past, Rainer stops his slow march toward the castle and sighs. He had thought maybe the yelling and running had been for him but when he turned to meet Algernon's approach he found himself to be mistaken as the divination professor, in an impressive show of speed, sprinted past him altogether. Noticing a red bicycle at his feet, Rainer raises it absently and continues his trek across the lawn. He has a lesson to plan and office furniture to rearrange and many hours before he can sleep.
The bicycle rolls beside him and rings its bell merrily as they go.

"What in the...?" Erich murmurs as he watches Algernon flees in rather considerable terror. It is loud inside his head and flashes like a lighthouse even from where Erich is standing at the other side of the lawn. "Oh nevermind."
Erich rolls his eyes and vanishes.
