(GH)T1: The Ball

[The Sorting Hat]

((Setting the scene...

The Great Hall was lavishly decorated with magically snow ridden christmas trees, that had real faeries flying in and out of them. The usual House tables were no longer there, but replaced by many rounded ones which would seat about 10 people on each.

As you entered the room, you could hear peaceful orchestral music filling your ear drums, but if you moved over to the other side of the hall you could hear the loud and lively rock band that was set up there. It seems that the room had been enchanted somehow, to make either half of the hall soundproof to the music of the other. It was some pretty intricate magic.

Many students were already at the ball, some sitting down chatting, some at the bar getting a drink and others dancing with their dates and friends.

[It would be best to keep the whole ball as one thread, but you can create extra threads if that would be better for you!
And thanks for everyones ideas, particularly Helia.. remember the theme is masked formal, so have fun describing what your wearing!]

Kim stood in the doorway to the great hall. She looked around, not really recognising the place. She had a black lace full length dress on. On the left side it was slit, so depending on how she stood and walked, her legs would show. She had stiletto boots on aswell. He mask was black too, with red diamante around the eye sockets. Her hair was individually twisted on the top of her head. Some had been curled that hadnt gone into the twist and fell down her back, she had put red lace in with the curls aswell. She went and got a drink and retreated to a table where the louder music played away.

Fin strolled happily (and rather clumsily) into the great hall. He was wearing a very nice white tuxedo, and he seemed to be rather comfortable in it. His mask was nothing much...in fact, it wasn't even really a mask. On top of his head was a large white top hat, which was a little too big for him. In fact, it was so big it went down over his eyes, slightly obstructing his view (now you know why he walked into the great hall clumsily). He went to the bar, took a seat, and started to order a drink, when a student turned him around, and told him that he had been facing the band. He then ordered his drink, and stumbled over to a table that he thought was empty. When he sat down and lifted his hat, he noticed Kim. "Oh, hey Kim! Whoa...you look amazing, if you don't mind me saying," he said truthfully.

Kim had been watching Fin clutter around and found it amusing. She hadnt known it was Fin, until he sat down in front of her. Seeing him out of his school clothes was a new thing and he looked really smart. She smiled warmly at him. "Thank you, no i dont mind haha. You dont look half bad yourself. Pretty nice actually"

"Why thank you," Fin said, blushing a little bit. It wasn't too often that he was complimented by a girl, mostly because of his small stature. "So umm, I don't suppose you've seen Lisa since you arrived, have you?"

[Kim Rivers]

Kim took a look around the hall. Lots of people were now crouding the place as she scanned the hoards of them. "No" Kim carried on looking before resting her eyes back on Fin. "Cant say i have. But she might have walked past you and wouldnt have known any different would you?" she laughed, she picked her mask back up of the table. It was a hand held one, with a long stick. She put it to her face as it only covered the top half of her face. "You hat seems to abstruct you range of vision"

"Nah, I'll be fine," he lied. "Just a minor handicap. So, um, until our dates arrive, you wanna get another drink," he asked, after finishing off his own.

[Brian Chase]

Brian walked in wearing a black tuxedo with a black mask. The mask was much, but it didn't matter to him. He saw his friend Kim so he walked over to her. "Hey Kim you look awesome. Hey Fin you seem nice. Hope either of you don't mind me saying that." He said smiling and listening to the music.

Finally! The ball was here. Aileen had been waiting for it, nervous of course, but also excited. Being dateless, she felt free to be herself. Entering the Great Hall with grace in her steps, she gasped. It was gorgeously decorated, and she couldn't wait to dance and participate. What was she wearing, you may ask? Well, a well-fitted full-length strapless white dress adorned her frame, with rows of small clear beads going down the front and stopping at her waist to give the dress a more of a shimmering appearance. A black mask with white sparkles on the outside rims and eye rims was placed on her face, and her hair was pulled back into a messy, yet elegant bun. On her feet were black strap heel sandals, and a black choker pendant clung to her neck, completing the look.

Not seeing anyone in particular that she knew, Aileen made her way over to the bar and ordered a drink. After recieving it, she made her way over to an empty table, the hall starting to become full with students who had dressed up for the special occasion. Taking a sip of her drink, she listened to the rock band, a smile on her lips as she did so. They were pretty good, she had to admit.

"Yeah okay. Lets have a drink" She said to Fin. She saw brian and smiled "Thanks Brian. You look nice aswell" She more or less had to shout to make herself heard over the band but she didnt mind. She was on an all-out-fun night. And noisy bands? All part of the fun!

[James McFinnigan]

"Sweet," he said, and he made his way to the bar with Kim. "So, where's Jerred," he asked her.

She shrugged. Holding her mask in front of her face. Handheld ones were more trouble than she thought. She let her arm drop and started playing with the mask. "I dont know. Though not worrying, im all about the fun tonight. Not going to worrying about where anyone is"

[Brian Chase]

Brian got thirst and walked over to the bar where he ordered his usual drink.

"Ah, all about the fun, sounds like a good plan," Fin said, laughing. 'Man, where's Lisa!' he thought to himself as he ordered a drink. 'I guess it's still early...she'll probably be here later...'

Kim stood at the bar. She was watching the students as they rushed around. Some were already dancing, everyone was enjoying themselves. Kim leant back and as she did her dress shifted, the slit that went up the left side moved showing a little part of her leg and her boots. "Well its supposed to be a fun night isnt is? So fun is what ill have. No arguing or anything like that. Just fun and laughter!" she smiled. "I wonder if any of the guys will wear a pink tux? That would be so funny" she laughed at the thought
