[glow=BFFFBF,2,300]Professor Didier stood out by the lake awaiting her students arrival. She was giddy with excitment simply with the thought of what she was teaching about today. She tried to calm down though when she saw her first students begin to arrive. She breathed deeply, "Glad you all got the notice." she said happily. "Please, have a seat on the ground, or if you must, conjure a pillow up." she smiled and started pacing back and forth waiting for the rest of her students to show up.[/glow]

Lisa hurried to the class, a smile on her face. She absolutely loved the idea that this class was held outside, allowing her a fresh breath of air. Reaching the clearing, she grinned.
"Hello, Professor," she said politely, sitting cross-legged on the floor.

Lisa was scanning through her textbook when someone came up behind her. She grinned before slightly laughing. "Well, hello to you too! Though, I must admit, i'm very ticklish," she said, waving to the Slytherin.

[glow=BFFFBF,2,300]"Good afternoon ladies. Today we will be learning about a sea creature known as a Hippocampus. Can anyone tell me what a Hippocampus is? Points for participation..." she said trying to bribe the students into guessing. When she saw several hands fly up she smiled. "Yes, what is a Hippocampus?" she said calling on one of them.[/glow]
(Remember, if you missed some of this don't come in apologizing. Just rp like you were here all along, ok?)

Ashlee, who was sitting in the shadows, came out. "A Hippocampus is A Mer-horse, with the head and forequarters of a horse and the hindquarters and tail of a giant fish." she sat down by the Gryffindor student. "Hey," she whispered. "I'm Ashlee"

[glow=BFFFBF,2,300]"Not quite Miss Rivers, but five points to slytherin for participation, and ten points to Hufflepuff. Very good Miss Van Dort." she nodded to Miss Granger. "Glad you could make it." she walked over to the edge of the lake and dipped her wand into the water "Dico-Madidus" she said. A bright blue ripple spread through the water and then... "This is a Hippocampus." she said as a creature with the front half of a horse and the tail of a fish appeared, swimming towards the shore. It put its front hooves on land as the Professor continued speaking, "This is Marcavalo. He and I became friends in my second year here at Hogwarts." the Hippocampus made a noise that sounded like a whinny, only slightly... blurred. Not muffled, but not the usual horse whinny most accustomed to hearing. "Any questions thus far?" she asked brightly.[/glow]

"This is quite a silly question but.. what does it do?"

[glow=BFFFBF,2,300]"That's not a silly question at all. The simplest way to explain the Hippocampus is that it serves Merfolk the way horses, and cows, and things of that sort serve us. It moves faster than most Merfolk do on their own so it's their transportation, it also sheds its scales regularly, which are a surprisingly good source of calcium and protein, and, of course, Hippocampus fertilizer is highly sought after." she watched as many students cringed during the description. "Don't worry, none of you are going to harvest Hippocampus dung. Nor will I force you to try eating a scale, but if anyone would like to Marcavalo I'm sure is willing to share."[/glow]
