Loren gave Amanda a symathetic look. She hoped the little Gryffindor did not feel bad - first years could not get everything right first time round. Loren raised her hand and cleared her throat. 'Cut up ginger root, armadillo bile and ground scarab beetle,' she said, her quill in the other hand at the ready to write down any additional notes Professor Black may wish to tell them. He had sat down at his desk now, and Loren eyed the liquid he was drinking, wondering if it were a potion of some sort...

Amanda groaned. Great, she'd just made a fool of herself. Again. Oh well, she wasn't surprised seeing as she was only a first year. Hopefully she would get better as she got older.

L.C was the first to speak up. "The ingredients for this potion consist of beetles, ginger root, and bile. Those are some of them anyway." L.C said turning to face Professor Black. "Why anyone would want to even taste this potion after knowing what is in it is beyond my knowledge" she added her own personal twist on her answer before smiling, hoping she was right.

Andie smiled encouragingly at the Gryffindor. "Hey, don't sweat it. Potions used to be my worst subject! Now it's one of my best. It'll come to you. Just give it time."

Amanda smiled shyly at the Ravenclaw. She looked around the room, taking in the new faces, the new atmosphere, as usual a song was brewing in her head. And if it wasn't a song, it was a poem. She turned back to the Ravenclaw. "What happened?" she asked, then decided she should she probably clarify. "I mean, how did Potions get to be one of your best subjects?" she tilted her head slightly and raised her eyebrows inquiringly. Basically, this was her 'curious' face.

"Greeat job girls! Ten points to Slytherin and Ravenclaw! Now can anyone tell me what this potion is?" he said gesturing to a cauldron in the corner of the room.

Noticing the distinct qualities of the potion, Lauretta blurted out, "That's the polyjuice, which is used for a human to take a form of another, it'd affects last about an hour." Lauretta sure did know her potions. "It's ingredients include, lace wing flies, antimony, leeches, fluxweed, knotgrass, horn of Biscorn and bloomslang skin." Lauretta explained before adding, "Once brewed, you add a hair of the person whose form you wish to take."
After answering Lauretta turned to the first year and also gave her a look of simpathy. "It's okay, I'm in my seventh year, I'm supposed to know this stuff", with a smile.

Amanda raised her hand hesitantly, not sure if she was brave enough to risk answering once more. "Well, I don't think the Forgetfullness Potion was mentioned, so is it the forgetfullness potion?"

" Ah well I didn't expect a first year to know that answer. You gave it your best. I am disappointed that my older students are getting 'showed up' if you will, by a first year." he said looking around the class." Now can anyone tell me what ingredients are in this potion?" Caleb said looking around the room at the students again. He sighed and took another swig from the glass on his desk.

Amanda realized that no one was going to answer and that she would have to rack her brain for the memory of what her cousin had told her. let's see...The main ingredient used in the forgetfulness potion are the petals of Forget-Me-Nots, a flower loved by muggles. but i don't remember the rest... she raised her hand once more, "Professor? If memory serves me correctly, the main ingredient should be the petals of Forget-Me-Nots, a flower loved by muggles. Crushing said petals should release a soft puffy white smoke. If the petals were not crushed fine enough and if the other
ingredients are not added correctly you can see any result from black thick smoke to cauldrons combusting in
flames. However, I'm not sure of the other ingredients."

"Still thats better than the rest of the students could come up with. Another ten points to Gryffindor! I know your still not old enough to take the O.W.L. for potions but Im certain you could pass it ms. Leveque. Well thats it for today class. I will see you during tomorrows lesson!" and he gave them a wave.
