[Lake] Could this be love?

Andie walked down to the lake, she had an urge to read some poetry and work on her novel some more. She had just sat down when she heard a twig snap behind her, gasping in surprise she whipped around to confront the person.

[Russell Parkhurst]

"Sorry!" Russell said, coming out from between the trees and standing next to the girl he had disturbed. "I didnt mean to interrupt you, I was trying to sneak past you." He looked her up and down, his eyes lingering on her books, then he added, "I can leave you, if you'd prefer?"

Andie smiled. "Oh it's okay. I was just startled that's all. I'm Andie Riley."

[Russell Parkhurst]

Russell smiled. "Russell," he said, "Russell Parkhusrt, but please call me Rus, if you want. It's nice to meet you." He rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment. "Look, I'm sorry about frightening you." He shuffled his feet awkwardly, he wasn't quite sure what else to say to make it clear that his felt awful about having frightened Andie.

Andie laughed. "Oh it's alright." she assured Russell. "I was just a little into my writing and wasn't expecting anyone to walk up behind me." She patted the ground beside her, "Why don't you have a seat?"

[Russell Parkhurst]

Russell smiled at the girl and sat down beside her. He leaned his propped up knees and smiled at Andie. Then he looked down. "What you writing that absorbs your attention so much?" he asked looking from her writing to her beautiful face.

Andie noticed Russell looking at her and biting her lip she smiled shyly and looked away. "Not much really." was her answer in reply to his question. "Just some poetry."

[Russell Parkhurst]

"Oh," he said, "just poetry, ay!" He smiled. "That's grand! Could never do any kind of writing," Rus confessed leaning back on his open hands. He sent Andie a playful smile and said, "when the sun hits your face just so-" he lifted his hand and caressed her check you look like an Egyptian goddess." He dropped his hand and simply smiled at the pretty girl next to him.

Andie laughed. It was a tinkling laugh like Christmas bells. "I'm not that pretty." She replied shaking her head.

[Russell Parkhurst]

Russell winked at her but kept his mouth shut. It was usually times like these where he said something totally stupid or absolutely mean. That was not the way he operated. He smiled at her then his gaze drifted to the lake. "Can't wait for it to freeze over," he said dreamily, "haven't skated for a heck of a long time! How 'bout you? You skate?" he asked, looking back to Andie.

Andie glanced up in surprise. "I love to skate!" she exclaimed.

[Russell Parkhurst]

Russell smiled slyly. "Really?" he said, "who'd have thunk? It should freeze soon, but we can't go on for a while, I'd say!"

Andie smirked. "Not if I have anything to say about it." she mumured. Looking around to make sure no one else was present she stood over the lake. With a snap of her fingers and a shower of gold sparks the lake froze solid. She turned and smiled at Russell. "Well? Are you coming or not?"

Russell watched in surprise and amazement as Andie froze the lake. "Neat trick!" he said and sat forwards, thinking about her question. "But I don't have my skates here," he pointed out, standing up and strolling to next to Andie.

Andie smiled. "Don't worry. I've got an extra pair in my bag that belonged to my cousin. You're about his size so they should fit." Reaching into her bag she pulled out two pairs of skates. A black pair, which she handed to Russell, and a white pair which she donned herself. She knelt down to lace up her skates and smiled up at Russell. "So, you ready to skate?"
