Caleb looked at Loren. "I have started the lesson and if the other students be so kind enough to shut up, you would have known it has started. Now can anyone tell me what anyone of these poisons are, and an antidote that would counteract the poison?" Caleb said glaring at them all.

(( Are these poisons actually real or can we just make them up? ))
Loren's cheeks burned red, and she huffed unappreciatively under her breath. Trying not let his uncalled for impatience get under her skin, Loren peered forward and let her gaze wander along the the cauldrons. Loren had been revising for next week's Potions exam mercilessly, and was relieved to find that she recognised at least a few.
'The middle one... it looks like the liquid essence of belladonna, I think. It's used a lot in potion making but not usually the poisonous attributes. It does actually contain it's own antidote, but its hard to extract.' She said. 'Of course, that particular poison is one of the many that can be countered with a bezoar.'
She had a faint idea of what the others may be, but waited patiently for Professor Black to confirm or reprimand her answer.

(Real)
"Correct. 5 points to Ravenclaw. Know any of the others?" Caleb asked her getting a better mood.

Loren chewed the inside of her cheek thoughtfully. There was a greenish brown concoction right on the very end of the row of cauldrons, and to her it could have been any of the deadly plant extracts or magical mixtures running through her head right now. Professor Black continued to watch her expectantly, and she decided she had no choice but to answer.
'I'm guessing that that one is... wolfsbane? Although it's more commonly called monkswood, and occassionally aconite. Another extremely poisonous plant that's only safe when diluted or carefully used. One again a bezoar will do the trick, but only if the substance is swallowed. Wolfsbane is strange because it can be used as a massage oil to relieve injured limbs and aches, but if it gets into a wound or cut it can be deadly. Although essence of murtlap is usually used just a mild pain relief, when set into the blood stream it can combat wolfsbane oil.' Loren paused for a moment. 'Or a simple wound-cleaning potion would do.'
She took a deep breath and looked at Professor Black pleadingly. Don't make a fool of me, she silently begged.

"That was a nearly perfect answer, but one simple ingredient could be used to make it harmless instead of a beozar. Do you know what that is?" Caleb asked growing happier by the second.
((the answer could be made up but make sure the ingredient is a real one.))

Loren leaned back and rubbed her chin thoughtfully. What could I have missed? she wondered. Her mind flickered back to early in the week when she had been sat in the library reading up on potions ingredients. It then struck her.
'The harmless poison of billywig stings, sir!' She smiled triumphantly. 'I remember now! In no other instance do they posses healing properties, but because the sting causes giddiness and such, it causes the brain to release high levels of endorphins that feel good, and thus block pain. When aconite poison is diluted by billywig poison, a very distinctive reaction occurs and the two neutralise one another!' She finished triumphantly.
I'll have to make sure I remember that for the exam, she thought, prompting herself to quickly write it all down before she forgot it again.
She sat up straight now, her mind racing. It had been such a long time since she hard enjoyed a lesson, and Loren was now very eager to try and impress Professor Black further. 'Sir, I think I can answer what the on the far left might be... may I?' She asked, hoping she had not answered too many questions for his liking so far.

"Be my guest. Also take ten points for Ravenclaw. Well Amanda you have some competition in being the top student." Caleb said giving Loren a wink.

Loren grinned shamelessly, typical Ravenclaw satisfaction beaming from her. As much as she secretly craved the be the rebel of all rebels one day, Loren could not resist compliments from a professor.
Regaining her composure, Loren cleared her throat and set eyes upon the potion once more. 'It's bulbadox powder stirred into boiling water, sir. In it's powder form, it can only be administer to the skin or through the nasal passages, but in liquid form it is much more discreet and when heated it's nastier properties are strengthened. Essentially it produces boils, and although there are many spells that can solve this, the puss of bubotuber can be adapted for treating it. It can be used for most skin problems, actually...' Loren discreetly touched her own face. If it were not for bubotuber products, she would not be a pretty sight.

"Right again! Take another ten points! You also gave the antidote. Now if anyone would like to tell me what the next potion is?" Caleb asked gesturing to the one farthest on the right.
((make this one Draught of Living Death))

Too pleased with herself to stop now, Loren leaned forward and peered into the fourth cauldron. Her face fell however when she realised it was the Draught of Living Death. I did this in my first year - how in Merlin's name could I forget the antidote? she cursed herself mentally, leaning back in her chair and scowling. She could see other people in the room trying to work it out also, and she closed her eyes for a moment, recalling substances and plants with awakening properties.
'The Draught of Living Death, sir,' She said absent mindedly, still working her knowledge. She then realised. 'There isn't actually an official antidote, only substances that can lend a helping hand to the body to fight against it. I believe the Invigoration Draught is most commonly used for this.' She finished at last, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

"exactly! Another ten points to Raven claw. I want everyone to make their own Invigoration draught, ready to turn in at the end of class. He waved his wand and the ingredients were on the board. They were as follows: Three grams of Asphodel root
A grounded Beozar
Three Sliced Caterpillars
One Crocodile heart
Doxy eggs
One gram of Graphorn
Spine of Lionfish
5 grams of Mandrake root
Powdered Moonstone
Tubeworms
Wormwood
After each ingredient stir five time clockwise and ten time counterclockwise, and an additional 20 time clockwise after all ingredients are in. And Caleb took a seat at his desk and waited.

Loren smiled to herself, full of satisfaction. Perhaps today was not going to be as miserable as she had imagined. Standing up in front of her desk, Loren pulled out her wand and ignited a small fire under her cauldron - which had apparently already been filled with water for the lesson. The ingredients were written in tall, loopy letters on the blackboard, and Loren studied them for a moment, memorising the process.
When she was done she summoned several of the first ingredients over to her desk, and lined them up in order. While the water boiled Loren proceeded to measure out the asphodel root and ground the beozar. She chucked in the roots and began to still in the correct manner. 'Professor, will we get to test them ourselves at the end of the lesson?' She asked without looking at him.
Although the exam was only in one week, and the use of any perception altering potion was prohibited, Loren hoped a few mouthfuls of the draught would aid her with her revision. The roots had began to shrivel on the bottom of the bottom of the cauldron and Loren quickly sprinkled in the ground up beozar.

"Actually I have mice to test it on. Mind you it wont hurt them, unless you completely mess up." and Caleb walked around the room looking at everybody's potion.

Loren giggled, amused. Mice were energetic enough as it was, and she could not imagine what they would be like with a drop of invigoration draught on their tongues.
Picking up her wand, Loren jinxed her knife to begin slicing up the caterpillars and dicing up the crocodile heart into more manageable chunks. To make it all the more easier, she also magicked her wand to stir the potion for her. The doxy eggs and graphorn were fine as they were, and so Loren began the fiddly task of extracting the lion fish spine. It went badly however when she pulled too hard and it ripped out, snapping weakly in her fingers.
'Disgusting...' Loren muttered, finding nowhere to clean her hands. She loved practicals, but could never abide the butchering of dead creatures. She realised Professor Black was now observing them, and quickly tossed in the sliced caterpillars.

Andrea, who hadn't said a word, picked up her supplies and began to read down the list of ingredients. "Let's see.. I have...
