She bit her lip to keep from laughing when he mentioned that Jac had somehow gotten him stuck in a parallel universe of sorts. Wouldn't he be surprised...
'Something good?' her interest grew slightly at this comment on potions, 'Care to share that thought with the class?' she asked, slightly intrigued as to what sort of wicked thoughts might be brewing in the slytherin boys head. Of course she leaned back on the couch to seem uninterested as she acted like she was counting the marble ceiling tiles, but for some reason this kid seemed fascinating, 'Perhaps I should write a psychological study paper on him... could be interesting. Don't know what good it would do, nor where in the library I would find the books to actually learn about psychology, but nonetheless. I'm sure he would be an interesting subject were I to know what I was doing...' she pondered silently.

Zachary caught the slightest tone of interest in her voice and smirked, tilting his head to one side. "It depends, Mirari," he said, unfolding his arms and leaning forward. "Care to share with me what type of class has homework so important and secretive that they require you to hide your workbooks?"
His eyes flashed, and he thought about the potions books his father had given him. They might require a person's assitance, and although the girl was younger than him, they could most-likely brew something wicked with their Slytherin inherited potions skills.

She laughed deeply, 'An information trade, she thought cheerily, this could get interesting.' She sat up slightly, still leaning against the back of the couch, 'Who ever said it was homework for a class?' she asked innocently, 'Maybe it's just a personal diary...' as if she would be so stupid to bring something that private out of the lockbox in the girls dormitory, but she tried to bring a blush to her face to make the ploy convincing. She hadn't a clue if she pulled it off, but that didn't even matter right now.
'Now back to what kind of, surely, hideous potion you plan to brew up that could quite likely get you expelled without a good partner and an even better alibi...' she said, tilting her head, eyes turning pale blue with bright cobalt stripes in the iris. Very rarely did she feel this mischevous, but mind games and manipulation always brought out the true slytherin in her.

Zachary slumped back in his seat, glancing at the girl disapprovingly. "Alright, alright." He said with a quick roll of his eyes. "You keep your secret--" He was tempted to leave her hanging as well, but went in the opposite direction. Instead, he tried to interest her further, his eyes shining darkly.
He looked around the room, making sure it was empty [Cough. L.C who? Cough.] then stood up from his seat. "Wait a minute," he said softly, before running up the staircase to the boy's dormitory.
He returned in a few minutes, slightly breathless and changed into a clean set of robes. The most interesting change, of course, were the three books beneath his arms. "See here?" His voice had grown strangely quiet, as if he was half-expecting someone to be eavesdropping-- which in the Slytherin Common was more than possible. "These... These are books you definitely won't find in this school's library."
He sat down beside the girl, pulling one up in front of them. The title shone brightly, the words Potions, not meant for the weak-minded glimmering silver. He looked at it hungrilly, then back at Mozess, expecting a praise of some sort.

She bit her lip, the put down was way too easy to pass up, 'So what are you doing with it again?' she asked smugly. Yeah, okay, it was a cheap shot, but easy blows like that don't come around very often unless you're confronting a hufflepuff... or gryffindor... depending on who exactly it happens to be.
She then look at Zachary, 'So, are you going to show me what kind of potions you find so interesting or did you jsut bring this down to show me the pretty cover?' she asked as she flickered her eyelashes sarcastically. What could you do, it was in her nature to make wise-cracks. Especially with self-centered egomaniacs like Zach. It was too much fun watching them fluster and flounder as they looked for proper comebacks.
To be fair though, she did want to see inside the books. She just figured things would move along faster if she didn't feed his ego. The more you let narcisists listen to their own voices, the less you get done, and from what she could tell Zachary was Narcissus reborn. 'But then who's Echo...' ah, mythology strikes again. 'I've got to stop paying attention when Yelena rants on the Greeks,' she mentally slapped herself.

Zachary's beam died down instantly, and he scowled, pulling the book onto his own lap. "You'll owe me after this," he muttered, opening the cover with a quick flick of his wrists. He was fully aware that he couldn't let any other Slytherin in on this after having already presented Mozess with the book, and had expected her to be wide-eyed and impressed.
Instead, he glumly turned the pages before landing on the table of contents. "These all take at least two people to brew properly, and ingredients are extremely hard to obtain," he paused, glancing at the girl seriously, before looking back at the book and trailing his finger down the page numbers.
"We'll choose one, and instead of revealing that notebook of yours," his eye caught her bag with a glimmer of curosity, before his fingers stopped trailing down the page. "You can help me brew it. Of course, if we get caught, there will be consequences, bad consequences. Expulsion if we're lucky."
He frowned at this, before turning to Mozess, his eyebrow raised in question.

She smiled, 'Even if I did let you read my notebook you wouldn't know what you were looking at,' it was the truth. She had unusual sketches of the great hall, and of course the pin pricks and lines and circles that surrounded different parts of the room. Though, at the same time she was glad he hadn't asked for that. Something told her that he had a mind that caught onto things overly easily and in the end he would probably rat out her master plan, but that was not a problem for the moment.
She leaned forward a bit, to get a better look at the pages then heard him say something about getting expelled, 'Consequences are only a problem if you can't lie well enough to get out of them,' she said with a shrug. 'As for the rest of this plan... could be interesting.' A grin spread across her face, 'Now the only problem is deciding which one of these dastardly beauties to work on.' She saw one potion that claimed it could bring the dead back to life, another that could summon forth a creature to attack any one person of your choosing, one that said after you drank it you would be sent to another dimension. They all seemed a bit of a crock. She flipped a afew pages, then saw something that caught her eye, 'Hey, what's this?' a yellowed piece of parchment was placed neatly between two pages. 'You put this here?' she asked Zach mischevously as she held it between two fingers.

Zachary was staring intently at the pages, his eyes sparkling with ideas and a smirk on his lips when he was broken out of his wicked reverie by a mischeivous voice.
"--Huh?" He frowned, craning his neck to get a better look. Snatching the paper from her hands, he examined it closely. "No, this is the first time I've opened this volume." He brushed some dust onto the floor as if to proove his point, before turning back to her. "Probably just a book mark of my fathers," he shrugged before pulling it open, glancing at Mozess just before opening the last fold.
Zachary's eyes widened as soon as he saw the strange spindly map, clearly marking an underground passage leading from the lake. It went blank before reaching the tunnel's destination, but hunger flashed in the Slytherin's eyes.
"A--a map!" His eyes darted across it as his breath quickened in anticipation. "It probably leads to riches, jewels or even better!" His insides grew raw with excitement and greed as he turned to the girl, expecting to find the same hunger in her expression.

There was obvious skepticism in her face, but the tinge of gold in her eyes gave away that she too was quite intrigued at the thought, 'Oh, come on. How can you be sure it's a real map, and if it is what makes you think we can get to it, or that it hasn't collapsed? For all that you know it could be infested with Inferi.' Being rational was so boring, but every now and again it had to be done. Then again...
She looked at the map, 'Who owned these books before you got them?' she asked a bit absent mindedly. If it were a suspicious person there might be an invisible ink mark somewhere that would tell them more. If it were a really suspicious person they might've taken a muggle route with it to keep their secret safer.

Zachary saw her point, and slumped back in his seat glumly. "I suppose you're right." Not usually one to think anything through completely, especially when his greed was involved, Zachary was sure he'd already be out the doors of the common room and looking for the tunnels the map indicated if not for Mozess.
Resigned to looking for potions, which seemed extremely dull when compared to the map, he sighed and was about to flip the page when the girl's next question reached his ears. He looked over at her, noticing the slight tinge of gold in her eyes with surprise, and bit his lip thoughtfully. Spreading the map out on the table in front of them, he leaned forward and frowned.
"I'm not absolutely sure. My father studied potions for years after his school years and his potions library has steadily grown larger since. I had to sneak into his library, to be honest..." He smirked slightly, "Living with that man has exposed me to all of his secrets, can't keep a ward up against me no matter how hard he tried."
Then, pausing, he closed the book and glanced curiously at the cover. "Supsicious though, I suppose, that he'd go to such lengths to keep the books protected in the first place." Raising an eyebrow, he placed the heavy book next to the map and stared at them both wonderingly.

'A potions fanatic, eh?' she said, her adventurous side getting the best of her. Throwing all caution to the wind she decided she had to give this a try. If nothing else, then jsut to simply keep her mind off her brother, and to give Zach a distraction while her master plan filled out.
She looked at the map with the empty spot, then at the potions text book still open to where they'd found the parchment. 'Well that's odd...' she said looking at the ingredients. 'This says it's a potion for curing boils... but there,' she poked one of the ingredients on the list, 'Bundimun gels and such are used in cleaning solutions, not in healing potions.' She continued to scan the list, 'Moonstone, dragon's blood, powdered bicorn horn... this isn't for medical purposes. This potion cleans off paper that's been stained or tainted in some way. The end of that map isn't blank, it's just been dyed to look like it!' she said, gaze passing between the map and book.
[ooc: eh, not the best conspiracy theory ever, but it works... sorta. lol]

Zachary's eyes widened as they travelled down the page and confirmed that each of her statements were true. "I was wondering why they had something as simple as a cure for boils in a potions text like this," he said quickly, flipping through the pages with a slight, gleeful laugh. "I'm willing to bet half these potions aren't what they say they are--"
Before he got too excited over that fact, he looked at Mozess and his eyes glinted furiously. "These ingredients should be mostly easy to obtain, except--eugh-- doxy eggs." He made a face, "They nest practically everywhere, but the eggs are a pain to pry from those blasted doxies themselves."
There was another moment of silence as Zachary glanced at the list one last time, before smirking. "I'm pretty sure we can find most of this in Wigglyfish's ingredient cupboard. I don't expect it'll be easy to just waltz in there and grab them though." Pulling some parchment from a stray work book on the table, not caring who it belonged to, he quickly scrawled down the ingreidents. "I hope, as a Slytherin, you're not above stealing..."

She rolled her eyes, 'Surely you jest.' Honestly, the thought of being above thievery. It was one of her favorite passtimes! Though for this kind of thing, it being a teacher and all, it might take a bit more... couth approach to get what they wanted. Who knows what kind of charms Wigglyfish had on that potions cupboard...
She looked down the list in the book again, then smiled, 'Although stealing everything does sound fun, there might be less chance of losing house points if we go it a different way... and perhaps get Hufflepuff to lose hold on their precious lead while we're at it...' her eyes glowed a dark neon green, turning to Zach, 'You and that Moen kid get along right?'

Zachary snorted, the quill in his fingers dropping onto the parchment. "Get along? Get along?" Shaking his head, he picked up the quill once more and continued to mark down the ingreidents more forcefully this time. "Hardly. He's a thorn in my side, that Moen." With a scowl, he looked back at Mozess and noticed the calculating look in her eyes.
"That whole eye-colour changing thing is quite disconcerting, I'll have you know." He said warily, before pulling the parchment in front of them. "Though, you're right, Wiggly - no matter how disgusting her idea of a potions classroom is - isn't stupid. Hufflepuffs, however, are rather dimwitted." He smirked, crossing his legs on his seat. "Manipulating them should be no hard feat, though I'm only afraid they'll want something in return." He grimaced, "And I am not going to share any of our treasure with them.

She looked speculative as Zach spoke defensively about his relationship with Thom. Her face soon grew to one of light amusement as he scribbled, angrily, the last few potion ingredients, 'Me thinks thou dost protest too much...' she said barely above a whisper before continuing her inspection of the unusual map.
At the mention of her unusual metaporphmagus feature she merely scowled and shrugged. Usually when someone noticed her color-change eyes they said 'Cool' or 'What kind of potion do you have to get to do that?' In fact, she'd never met anyone that remarked on it quite like that. But then again, what else could you expect from Zach? 'Never met anyone with occulomorphiphobia before,' she said blandly. It wasn't the most eloquent dispslay of words but it was all she could htink of at the moment. She had a hard enough time trying to control her eyes. Zach being weirded out by them didn't help, os she was quite glad when he changed the subject again.
'Hufflepuff, hufflepuff... how to dupe a hufflepuff...' she thought in deep concentration. Of course it ought to be simple. The badgers are so trusting... but the problem is what if you get a tattle tale, goody two shoes, or all around wimp that's not quite as easily fooled or has the irritating problem of wanting to follow rules. 'We may not have to...' she said thoughtfully. 'Just how much do you hate Moen?' it would have to be a pretty deep hatred for what she had in mind.
