As she entered her classroom for the very first time Hannah Edgecombe stood in the middle of the room and groaned. It was like a throwback to her days as a student. Poofs who in the world sat on poofs anymore. There were shawls everywhere all styles and colors. Droll lamps lit the dark room with the huge curtained windows. This was preposterous. The room was in desperate need of a makeover. It wasn't her style she believed a classroom reflected the subject and this to her said that divinations was a joke. No! She was determined to make her class serious. Divination was a powerful thing; to see into the future was something to be taken seriously.
Wand pulled out the poofs began to wriggle then slowly move to a empty storage closet on the far right of the room. Then she used her skills at conjuring to make high backed cushioned chairs appear. The small tables holding the crystal balls were replaced with tall normal tables, tea cups replaced the crystal balls. A desk for herself was rummaged out of the back of the room it had been hidden away under several shawls. The window curtains were drawn so that sunlight could come streaming in. It looked more like a normal classroom and less like seance gone bad. Now she got a chalkboard and with her wand wrote one the board
Professor Hannah Edgecombe
Lesson I: Reading tea leaves
Please come in and be seated talk quietly amongst yourselves.

With a smile on her face and music blaring through her small blue earphones, Polaris stepped through the half-cracked classroom door to the first Divination class. She turned the volume down almost immediately to a low buzz once spying the Professor and gave her a polite nod of the head.
"Hei, Fru Edgecombe." Was the first thing that blurted out of her mouth unintentionally. Polaris tended to become a bit excited over new things and when she did, she often reverted back to using her native tongue, norwegian. "Ah, pardon me.. I'm Polaris Stormwrath. It's a pleasure, Professor. I look forward to learning the content taught in this class!" She spoke with a thick accent followed by a shy smile.
Looking around a bit, the Ravenclaw spotted a comfy chair at the centre table in the second row and decided that she would sit there for now, waiting for the arrival of the other students.

Walking down the corridor, Ash found the Divinations room, he opened the door to the classroom and stepped inside. He saw Polaris and nodded to her. "Hello Professor." he said, greeting Professor Edgecombe with a small smile.
Taking a seat by the window, Ash looked around, the room had changed. Gone were the poofy chairs, and crystal balls. They had been replaced by cushioned straight-back chairs, and the crystal balls had been replaced by teacups. Ash smiled slightly, he had to admit, it was a good change.

Somehow it felt like one more part of her had been destroyed, with the makeover of this room. The fresh look wasn't horrible, so to speak, it actually looked very nice. Katya just missed the way things used to be, thats all. So when she stepped in to the room and took in the new atmosphere, she choked down a silent gawk, instead smiling at the professor and nodding at her. The woman wouldn't be able to lip-read from such a distance anyway. Practically gliding in to the class, the 'Claw flicked her eyes over to the wolf animagus, then to Ash. Smiling wider then, she made her way over to him - but not before nodding to Polaris in greeting -, tilting her head to the side and flashing him a curious look. As in, could she sit beside him?
If the answer was a yes, which she was hopeful for, Katya would sit down in the high-backed chair beside his window seat, hovering her fingers over the new tables and teacups. How were they going to ball-gaze without crystal balls? Well, the professor probably had something up her sleeve, so she'd wait and see, still appearing a little disappointed at the extreme makeover. Shaking the feeling off, or postponing it for now, she turned to Ash, mouthing the words, ' How are you? ' to him. The last time she'd seen him was that day in Hogsmeade, when he nearly got in to a fight with Bray. She wasn't going to pick sides, nor was she going to not be friends with Bray. But she could be friends with both, so they'd have to deal, if it bothered them.

Change was hard for some and she could sense that there were those who liked what she did to the room and those that didn't. The old way was fine if the subject was to be treated as a joke, and perhaps their last teacher had thought divination just that but Hannah felt very differently. Perhaps it was because she was one of the few with an actual gift, or perhaps because she had always taken the subject seriously even when she was younger. Whatever the reasoning the class was better this way the students would be focused on learning.
She was hoping more would show up even though she surmised that there were a lot who thought the subject woolly. Sometimes it could be, not all could see what the second sight allowed but there were some with a gift and she wanted to help them nurture that gift.
Giving more time to arrive she sat back in her seat, some of the students greeted her, they were certainly more polite than the students in her day. "Good Morning to you all" she said as a cup of steaming hot coffee appeared next to her. Her power was a bit greater than most materialization was just as nifty a gift as seeing the future. Staring at the door she hoped more would show.

Ellie trudged into the classroom, mud streaked on her shoes. Apparently, blast-ended skrewts had been let lose in the courtyard, melting all the pretty snow and creating a giant mud pit. Ellie had walked in totally unawares. She wasn't happy. Her beige canvas sneakers were ruined. She attempted to wipe off the dark brown mud, but failed at this. She wished her mother were there. Mrs. Rook knew all the good cleaning spells and would have Ellie's shoes sparkling in no time. However, Ellie was not as learned as her mother in the homemaker's trade.
So to top of her wonderful day, Divination was next. It was one of the most pointless classes she had, though, there was no doubt she would rather sit in the stuffy room then be prey to the Slytherins in Dark Arts class or prey to a plethora of other beasts in Care of Magical Creatures. No, unlike those other classes which were classified as dangerous, Divination was classified under a waste of time.
However, Ellie tried to put of a smile as she step into the room, but a loud 'smuck' from her shoes, a reminder of the large amount of mud still stuck to her, wasted away the half smile to a sort of embarrassed grimace. Taking a deep breath, she quickly 'smucked' to a seat quite close to her and folded her arms over the table. Laying her head down on the folded arms, she wished she could scream, but she let out a great big sigh instead.

Light footsteps could be heard before the door creaked open, revealing a Slytherin that proudly brushed past the door and Professor. "Proffessor." Everything about him was cocky, atleast in this subject. An ace up his sleeve, some would say. Sliding into the furthest seat at the furthest table in the back, Jason Walker made himself as comfortable as he could in what little time it took him. Resting his back against the chair, the boy grinned.
As hazel eyes scanned the room lazily, Jason took in every detail of the room and memorized it. Everything from what the students were wearing to how many cieling tiles were in the room was locked into his memory.
Tea leaves. Should be easy.. As far as I'm concerned, I am only here to gain points for my house. Looks like I'm the only one as well. Feh, a bunch of bloody slackers. Gods only knew what else was brewing in the Slytherins mind. But judging by the smirk on his lips, it wasn't good.

Kel entered the room and walked quickly and silently to a seat near the back of the room. She dropped her bag next to her chair and sat down. There were only a hand full of other students, none were her age, although there were other Ravenclaws. Kel felt rather intimidated by the older students. She looked into her tea cup to give her something else to do. Kel had had doubts about taking this subject after she had signed up. She wondered whether she would ever find the subject useful at all. Isn't it part of the joy of life that it takes unexpected twists and turns?

Bradyn had to rush to Dinivation much faster than the short boy usually would after getting out of Transfiguration a little too late. It wasn't his fault that his sister taught that class and sometimes she wanted to talk to him, about nothing, after class. Or was it?
Well, certainly he didn't choose to have her as a sister or for her to even teach at the same school as him. It was a bit of fate, and fate was making him late today. He pushed aside the curtain quietly and sat down at the nearest seat to hopefully attract as little attention as possible. But he was lucky, because the lesson hadn't started and there were only a few students present. Ellie being one of them, hooray, his luck is changing.
Scooting over a couple tables to plop down at her's and frowned at her clear distress. "Something bothering you?" He said sadly, and glanced at the teacher in case she was planning to begin and his little whispering would interrupt and noticed on the board that they would being tea leave nonsense today.

Head resting on the table, Ellie thought seriously about jumping out the window. She was tired, embarrassed, and just plain not in a good mood. The last thing she wanted to do was listen about some crackpot subject that she didn't care about. (This might be the bad mood talking.)
Ellie heard someone walk in the room, and she lifted her head, hopeful that it was someone that could cheer her up. Nope, just some dumb Slytherin. Ellie quietly groaned and slammed her head back down. She heard yet another person come in, but didn't bother to lift her head.
Feeling the mud making her shoes slippery on the floor, Ellie just groaned into the table. She felt someone sit next to her, and didn't want to see who it was.
"Something bothering you?"
Ellie looked up and half-smiled at Bray, probably the one person that could make her feel better. Her half smile faded slightly as her sneakers made a smuck noise. "Bad morning." She said, resting her head on his shoulder, hoping the lesson would be short and easy.

Laughing at the joke she hit her friend in the arms as he twirled around on the spot speaking in an eerie voice saying "let me read your future darling" Julianna was doubled over holding her stomach laughing. A lot of kids thought that divinations was a joke, Julia wouldn't deny she thought that too, but something made her take the class she wasn't sure what the pull was but regardless after she finished her laughter that's where she was headed.
Entering the room the first thing she noticed was that professor the one that looked at her as if she were a criminal the one that walked out of the building in a huff. There had been disdain in her eyes but Julia never got the why. There was nothing she could do so she just took a seat hoping that whatever it was with the woman was over and done with.
Sitting in silence she was waiting for the fortune telling to begin.

Hannah had been sitting at her desk students were walking in but she herself was lost in thought. So much had happened during her time at home. Her father had betrayed her and her mother in such a way...Hannah had no idea how she was going to forgive him. Every day now she received an owl from her father begging her to speak to him but she still hadn't responded. Sooner or later her mother would notice her distance and what would she do then...
Suddenly a movement caught her eye and she came back to the present and noticed that it was her. That girl, Hannah recognized the last name when she'd seen it and made it her business to find the face that matched. The first time she glimpsed the girl was the day she stormed out of the castle after staring her down. Now here she was in her room taking her class. Hannah suddenly felt sick at the thought of having to teach her father's illegitimate daughter. Hannah knew herself and knew that she couldn't be fair not to her not now.
Hannah looked away from the front of the room and out the window. She had no idea what she was going to do or how she was going to do it. It was bad enough that her father did what he did, bad enough that of all the schools in the world she decided to teach there, and most of all that she hated a young girl she didn't even know.
Sighing she knew she had to get on with it. So she finally rose from her seat crossed her desk to stand in front of it now, leaning against it she crossed one leg over the other, her hands reaching behind placed on each side of the desk. "Hello students, I'm Professor December I'll be your Divination teacher from now on. So that I can learn to put names with faces I think it would be a good idea for you to introduce yourselves, I don't require you to go into vivid details unless it's something you feel comfortable doing. I think we'll start with you, she pointed to the young man that she noticed was a from her old house Slytherin."
(OCC: Anyone who walks in after this post please post as if you've been in class the whole time, if not then there will be points taken from your house))

Watching as the Professor pointed to him, a grin grew on his lips. "Absolutely, Professor." Was his reply while he stood up, making sure everyone was paying attention. "My name is Jason Walker and I am of the house Slytherin and this will be my 7th year, but only my first at Hogwarts. I was transferred from Durmstrang after completing all the classes the school had to offer by my 6th year. Also, I am fluent in 5 languages. My aspiration is to become an Auror, and I am very close to achieving that. That is all." The way he spoke was clear cut, to the point and presented with a smooth, commanding voice.
With that, Jason took a seat, the grin still on his lips. He always loved being an influence. He turned his head and caught the Professors gaze with his own. "Is that what you were looking for, Professor?"

Polaris kept her bi-coloured eyes on the Slytherin that had taken the floor and answered the Professors question. Thor knows his voice was loud enough in the small room. Damn, fluent in five languages AND he graduated early from Durmstrang because they had no more classes? Intellectual much? Too bad none of the other Slytherins could stand up to him. Besides, he's not bad on the eyes.
The animagus slumped a bit more in her chair where she sat alone, tapping her nails against the table top in boredom. When will the damned class start?

Seeing the depressed little Ellie definitely was a downer on his day, and when she rested her head on his shoulder he wrapped his arm around her waist. "Ah, well hopefully this class won't be too bad." He whispered, and by bad he meant eccentric and crackpot like most dinivation theories. Then at a disgusting smuck noise he raised a brow and glanced under the table. "Ohh, I see what you mean." He said but couldn't keep the amusement out of his voice. Reaching into his pocket opposite of Ellie, he dug out his wand and pointed it under the table. "Scourgify!" He muttered just before the teacher stood up to address the class. Hopefully that would cheer her up a bit, he knew it would cheer him to know he wasn't knee-high in mud anymore.
'Ugh, introductions, that's a pain.' He thought and worked on plotting out what he would say. Normally, Bray would have put in that he was a registered animagi, just to be a show-off, but with Ellie there that was definitely a no-go. She didn't know, and he wanted it to stay that way until he could think of a nice way to put it to her. When the Slytherin stood up and introduced himself, he couldn't help his eye twitching slightly. What a braggart, he'd certainly love to show-up that arse.
