Richard watched her closely as she slid off the table with such ease and sat down in the chair beside him. He waited with baited breath to find the answer to his question but she seemed to be enjoying teasing him, making him wait for the answer and in a strange way he found it fun. He was using his brain to try and avoid being caught out and make sure he kept a clear head that he did not lose his heart or neck and say something stupid. This was not helped when she moved closer to him and whispered in his ear that he was tempting her. He only hoped that she was finding him attractive and not her next meal.
Managing a soft laugh Richard had a slight moment of panic when eh thought this might be going over his head, he was not know for his bravery and had never been with a girl before. He had studied them from a distance harbouring many crushes but that is all they were, nothing more or nothing less so when Erika reached out and started to move the hair out of his face he knew what he had to do. It was his turn to seduce her, to make her blush and think maybe that he liked her. But the thing was if he went around it carefully or just dived in there. It was when her hand lingered a little to long near his face when he decided that maybe being forward was the only way to protect his neck and also maybe his own pride and gain some respect from the rest of the guys in his dorm.
“So you have the same weakness then. The same thing that has led to the downfall of so many.” He looked to his side and saw the book of fairytales on the table. “Just look at those in muggle fiction. Juliet and Guinevere to name a few and they all met tragic ends. Although you may argue that dying for love would be the greatest in my opinion I think it is rather depressing.”
Richard slid forward on his chair and reached out taking hold of Erika’s hands. They were softer then he expected and were not trembling like his. The thought of dying for love scared him even more and what he was about to say could have been taken in either way but what ever happened he wanted to make sure he enjoyed life but stayed alive long enough to do so. As soon as he had took hold of them he gave them a soft little squeeze accompanied with a warm smile.
“Although this is defiantly an area where I would be happy to be wrong.”

Erika chuckled, "Well fortunately for me, I'm not exactly what you'd call 'alive'? am I?" she quipped rolling her eyes, she glanced briefly at the book, "Although I must say, as much as I love the stories, I have no real sympathy for them. I can't help but think, that is maybe thay had been a little smarter about what they were getting themselves into, and a little more patient with their pursuits, then maybe they would have lived." She regarded Richard quizzically as she bit her lip, "But you know, I can't help but wonder, even if they did do things differently, would their lives have been spared? Or were their fates sealed from the begininng?"

Richard let go of Ericka’s hands at the mention of her not really being alive. For some reason that took him by surprise but he did not know why, he had learned enough about them and yet still he was now slightly withdrawn again his mind spinning trying to work things out. He only half listened to her argument about they should not have died, and although he would have agreed normally his mind was all a blur as he tried to make sure things were ok and he could go through with his plan. Well that was a silly point of course he could he did not want this neck to be bitten into.
Shaking himself back to reality and trying to dig deep to find some form of confidence he looked on at Ericka with a wide grin only to hear her say a very relevant point. Fate was something he believed it but true to his fathers tradition if it could not be proven then it was not worth the time. But her point really did ring a bell with him, the idea of fate bring two people together was always the romantic take on things and in his own way Richard liked it.
“So you are a strong believer of fate then? I mean was it fate that I saw you and came over to talk to you, or is that taking our meeting too far. Expecting too much?”
Rich new that if he was going to put on the act more he would have to accompany that with something, maybe stroke the side of her face or caress the back of her hand but he had lost all confidence. He sat still with his hands stuck to his side simply looking at her with a small smile. Maybe he was not cut up for this and the only way to save his neck was to run out of the library and not come into contact with this Gryffindor again.

Erika laughed softly, she could tell that poor Richard was nervous, "I guess you could say I believe in fate." she admitted with a smile. Then she turned serious once more, "Do you? Do you think that it was fate that brought us here at the same time, or was it mere coincidence?" She sighed, "And how would you define 'expecting too much'?" She stared deep into his eyes, as she subtly moved closer to him, closing the gap that was between them. Her eyes searched his face, as she slowly leaned in, "Would this be expecting too much?" she breathed softly, before kissing him briefly but gently, she reached out tentatively with her hand, and cupped the back of his neck. She pulled back once more, a smile gracing her features.

Had fate brought them here, well for Richard at the moment it seemed like luck as he now knew not to go near this girl when she might be hungry and have a crazing for some red, dark liquid. Yet there was something that would have to be more the coincidence, as that would have been they reached for the same book and then they found out they had a lot in common, but yet that could also be classed as fate. Looking upon her pale feature Richard gave a small smile as he had finally worked out an answer that maybe suitable for her.
“Well I think the two things are so close that it will be hard to define either one. And even harder to give this encounter a classification. I think it depends on how things p…pro….gress.”
Richard was forced to break off as Erika got closer and then she reached out and kissed him. His eyes grew wide all of a sudden and he did not know what to do. Should I kiss her back or break away, should he enjoy the moment or panic that he had a vampire kissing him. What ever the kiss was soon over and Ericka was looking at him closely and was moving away smiling. Running his hand through his hair Richard puffed out his cheeks and let out a long sigh.
“Well that puts a different light on things. I think you were simply seizing the moment there. Fate had nothing to do with that kiss.”

Erika shook her head gently, silky black hair glistening as it caught the light, Seizing the moment was I? Maybe, and...maybe not. "What makes you think that fate had nothing to do with it?" she asked, "Sure I was seizing the moment, but how do you know that it wasn't fate that made me do it in the first place?" She sighed sadly, "Besides, even if it was fate that brought us here, how can fate bring us closer together?" She turned away, her expression sad, "Just because my kind can love, doesn't mean that other's can love my kind." She looked back at Richard, the sadness and pain written clearly in her eyes, "How could you love a vampire? And even if you could, why would you want to? Why would you be willing to throw your life away...for a monster?"

Rich watched as Erika’s hair floated around her, it was something that he actually found beautiful about her. It seemed so smooth so perfect, but those where not the thoughts that would get him anyway. Just think at what his father would say if he mentioned that he had a relationship with a vampire, he might as well wave goodbye to his inheritance and job prospects that was for sure. Maybe it was the type of people like his father that Erika was on about, those people who as she so plainly put it. ‘why would you ever love a vampire’
Lowering his gaze Rich looked at his hands for a while trying to work out what to say. Erika was playing the pity card and he would not let it happen, she was trying to get him to pull down his collar and wave his neck around in front of her, but no he would not fool for her pity. But with that opinion was he acting just as bad as his father, labelling her as a blood drinker before he even knew her. Maybe he should look at himself before condemning others, he was actually going to give Erika a chance. With a small smile Rich reached forward and too hold of her hand once more, although feeling slightly more comfortable then the last time.
“Throw my life away for a monster. Now to be honest I do not think you land in that category. Monsters are meant to be 15 feet tall and be green and have the intellectual capability of a flobber worm. You are more of an enhanced breed of human.”

Erika snorted derisively, all traces of humor gone from her eyes. "Oh really? Then why does my own family treat me like I'm nothing more than a piece of filth!?" she hissed coldly, spitting out the word 'family' as if it were a bad taste on her tongue. Her normally calm eyes were dark and stormy. "Do you have an answer for that?" she asked.

The terror that had being filling Rich was only made worse by the sudden change in Erika’s attitude. She was actually scary then before. The glint in her eyes had gone, the smile that played on her lips vanished and even the tone of her voice had changed dramatically. Managing to muster a small smile Richard had to think fast as he knew if he waited to long to give an answer she would not take it as well others would.
It was clear that her family did not like her and she clearly had a vendetta towards them. But to be honest he could not blame her, he did not get along amazingly with his family, although he loved both his mother and father there were certain aspects of them that he would like to ignore and for everyone else to do the same. There was only one way Richard knew he could answer her question and that was with the truth.
“No. I for once I can not answer your question as I do not think it would be possible for anyone apart from your parents to answer it. I can not defence them for there reasons or even attack them when I do not even know them. All I will say is that I can find very little to fault you on.”
Richard smiled whole heartily at her, for what he had said had been the truth. His previous judgements were made form not even knowing the poor girl and jumping to conclusion just like his father and he was now making it his duty to act less like him in certain situations and be his own person.

Erika attempted to keep the glare on her face, but soon found that it was impossible, and her face softened into a smile. Richard certainly was different. "So, if you can find nothing to fault me on, then that must mean that I'm practically perfect, right?" she asked with a teasing smile and mock haugtiness as she flipped her hair over her shoulder. Her eyes, which had just been stormy and tumultous, were now light and playful.

The anger and frustration that had just filled the Gryffindor’s face seemed to pass just as quickly as it had arrived. Richard was almost relieved for that to have happened as it meant he did not have to sorry about her biting his head off as well as into his neck. Yet the longer he stayed and talked to her he became slightly more reassured that she might not lunge at him as his imagination was first thought.
With a slight nervous smile Richard became stuck again at the though of having to answer her statement. In his eyes no one was perfect, everyone had flaws and negative aspects you can just over look them in certain situations.
“Well I seems that I am then aren’t I. But do not get to big headed I have only known you give minutes who knows what you are normally like.”
He returned her playful grin and was half tempted to stick out his tongue at her but thankfully managed to reframe himself form such an immature action. Instead he just raised his eyebrow and watched as her black hair floated own over her shoulder. Rich was actulyl finding this bizarrely fun. It was a new challenge to him, first of all conversing with a female but also trying to piece together her personality. All he knew so far was she had a short temper and was rather curious when people mentioned vampires and their attitude towards them.

Erika smiled, "Now who said anything about getting a big head?" she asked, "Besides, my head's already big enough. Why would I want it to get any bigger?" she continued with a smirk. After a moment of silence, Erika yawned, and arched her back, stretching like a cat. "So, what did you come in here for? I mean, before I distracted you?" she asked Richard curiously.

Richard watched as Erika laughed away and commented about he size of her head. He tilted his head sideways in hope to get a better view point just to workout how big her head actually was. He k new it was only a figure of speech but they had to come from somewhere but as normal her knew he was reading far to much into very little. With a small smile Rich returned back to reality and out of his won world and ran is hand through his hair trying to think a witty remark to answer her back with.
“I would not say your head was big, just out of proportion to the rest of your body.”
As soon as the last word slipped out of his mouth Rich flinched and moved back in his hair, rising his arms slightly almost as a form of defence. With a slight laugh he looked at Erika and quickly stood up out of his chair and moved to the selection of bookcases just opposite the table where they sat. A wide grin across his face a she randomly picked a book from the self and started to pretend he was reading almost waiting for Erika to come over. He knew she would, she was one of those people, hated being left by themselves, being run away from abandoned almost. And Richard, well he was just having a good time, for once not working.

Erika sat there in shock, she had no idea that Richard was so bold! Well, you learn something new everyday... commented a small voice in her head, You sure do... she mused quietly as she stared at Richard. Finally, with a small smirk, Erika pushed her chair back from the table, stood up, and with a naturally graceful poise, wandered over to Richard. "What's wrong? You're not getting scared of me are you?" she teased, eyes twinkling with humor.

Being bold may not have been the best idea Richard had every come up with and the mere fact he was now hiding behind a rather dusty book in play was even more strange for him. He stood there not paying any attention to what was on the page trying not to laugh. Erika seemed to be taking her time and this unnerved him slightly as he could not work out what she was doing, his neck stood on end as his mind pondered over the idea that she may be somehow standing behind him ready to suck his blood.
With a nervous glance over his shoulder he was reassured that she was not there and that she was actually now walking over to her. With a quick look over the top of the book Rich tried to put on his serious face and hide the laughter that was threatening to explode out of him, but at first he had to work out how to answer her question, keeping his pride undamaged.
“I am sorry do I know you?”
He saw the mischievous glint in her eye and returned an identical stare back, she was not going to beat him that easily. Although he was focusing so hard on keeping a straight face he failed to noticed that his book was slowly slipping out of his sweaty hands.
