So the lesson was to be held outside, well that would make a lovely change thought Vicky, that was until she slipped cautiously out into the flcikering sunshine and the wind picked up fluttering her hair about wildly, that wouldn't have bothered her only the biting chill from such a wind was evident. Believing she would be sat cosily within a classroom she'd worn only thin garments rather than the thicker wool that this piercing chill needed. It wasn't uncommon up in Scotland and the added cold from being higher up certainly didn't help.
So hugging herself a little for warmth Vicky stood her full height and sweeped gracefully over to her fellow classmates, stood over the ever resourceful Head of Hufflepuff, wonders never would cease when he was about, and the choclate frog that sailed past her ear was no exception to his usual crazy, but ultimately cool antics.
Standing behind the others Vicky saw the look of annoyance at his student cross his rather handsome, but undeniably older features, not quite her cup of tea naturally, if only he was younger though. Driving such strange thoughts from her head she realised they had surfaced for one sole reason; the lack of eligible men about, that Adam was about to be engaged so of course he was a no go area, and no others were present; typical.
Waiting patiently for the lesson to commence Vicky looked out across the grounds with a decidedly neutral expression now, it was about time some guy walked into her life. Bag still slung upon her shoulder Vicky smoothened her billowing robes, she adored wearing dresses but these robes just wouldn't do, they clung in the wrong places and really didn't emphasise her figure nearly enough, more of the point was how thin these ones actually were. They offered very little protection at all, she'd much prefer to wear what she wanted, as they would in fact be far more suitable.
Saying that she was nonetheless contented to watch the distant figures moving about the grounds; it looked like the Care of Magical Creature first years were taking their first mandatory trip into the forest, how she had hated that.

Adam jumped in surprise as something hit him on the side of the head, quickly catching it with lightning fast relexes, he looked down to see what it was. Chocolate Frogs! Excellent! Smiling, he held the frog in one hand, and pulled off one of its legs with the other. Noticing the other students in the room, he gave them all a friendly nod. Adam may have been a Gryffindor, but he was not against making friends from other Houses. Especially not Slytherin. Of course that might've been because his girlfriend was a Slytherin.

{ Nice signature picture, Hubbles. Love the speedo. }
Tucking a stray lock of hair behind her ear, Erys looked into Ange's eyes, grinning as she saw the flash. "Oh, I'm sure we'll think of something." Sliding her tongue along her lip, the seventh year quickly took up a calculating look, imediately checking off throwing her off the roof. That would kill her, dock Slytherin all of the points they had earned, and probably get them expelled. Maybe when Hubbles told them what was going on this lesson? If it was a group thing, they'd try to stick together and plan something.
"Fine." Erys replied, shrugging, occupied with getting a treat. She had a weakness for chocolate. As a frog whipped through the air, her arm shot up, catching it instantly. Grunting with satisfaction, proud of her awesome reflexes, the Slytherin tugged open the package - that was if they were in packages, of course - and quickly stabbed the beast in its spine with a long fingernail. Imagining a tiny little scream, Erys licked her lips, finishing it off and wiping her chocolatey fingers off on Sarie's back while pretending to give her an encouraging pat.
Crossing her arms, shuffling away from the Gryffindor now, she returned to Ange's side, grinning at her. Nodding back to the Adam boy, the animagus recalled how he was dating Lidia Cullen. When she heard that she nearly gagged, it was like treason to date someone, especially a Gryffindor. That didn't mean you could make friends, but still. Erys hadn't met this girl anyway, so it didn't matter to her.

The chocolate frogs seemed to be having the attended effect for a few seconds while they destroyed the enchantments that surrounded the chocolate silence fell over them. Although it was only for a second, it is a very hard thing to shut up teenagers. Rolling his eyes and getting rather board of hearing the same question over and over again Dan closed his book once more and placed it on the floor beside him.
“Oy you lot, gather around if you want to know what the devil we are doing up here!”
Dan could not be bothered to move out of his deckchair, he had finally got comfortable and was worried that if he stood up he would never be able to get this comfy again. So instead he waved his arms around in the air gesticulating for them to gather around. With a small smile as some students started to move forward Dan reached over to the crate of goodies and pushed it over towards them all and picked up his wand. With a flick tables and chairs appeared for everyone to sit down at, as he knew he would feel rather defenceless if he was the only one sitting down and everyone was standing over him.
“Ok help yourselves to drink and food you will need the energy! Basically I, and the help of a few professors, have created a nice assault course for you. Basically you will be put into teams and in those teams you have to complete the stage in the fastest time. This course has been designed to test your team work, knowledge and skill of magic and common sense. Any questions?”
Reaching over Dan pulled out a bottle of Butterbeer and took a large swig of it, looking around at all his students waiting for them to respond to what he had said. Admittedly he had not reviled a lot but he wanted it to be a surprise.

"Sounds good, prof." Erys replied in a mexican accent, feeling really hyper as of now. Laughing, she stopped at a table, waving Ange over to sit with her. Conjuring a glass of water from the kitchens into her grasp, the Slytherin sipped it slowly, as to not get any cramps in the ribs if she had to run. An assault course sounded perfect, she was just buzzing with energy. Putting the cup back on the table, she rapped her fingernails against the surface, listening in case there was anything else. That it? Cool, when do we start?
She was guessing the teams were going to be mixed, since there weren't even numbers between houses. Two Slytherins, two Gryffindors, three Ravenclaws, and a Hufflepuff. All they needed was two more Puffs and a Slytherin, and the lesson was a go! "Well," Erys nodded, a tad impressed, "That sounds awesome. When do we start?" Man, her two best friends always seemed to miss the fun lessons.
Flicking away an unoccupied chocolate frog box with her pointer fingure, Erys crossed her arms over her chest, something she seemed to do alot. More for comfort than anything else.

A lesson outside? Whatever the professor wanted. He was late to the classrom, and as such late to get to the roofs as well. He ascended the stairs and flashed an "I'm sorry" smile to the teacher. Joshua had caught the last of the conversation and headed over to the food. He'd already eaten a little at breakfast. If there was going to be an assault course he wasn't going to be completely satiated.
Seeing his best friend Erys standing beside the table, he walked in her direction and slid up beside her. "Hey, did I miss anything? What's up with this assault course thing?" He asked her quietly.

Seeing Joshua join them on the roof, Erys couldn't deny the smile that occupied her expression. "Hey loser, you're late." She scolded him playfully, gesturing for him to join her and Ange at the table. "You didn't miss much, the professor threw chocolate frogs at us." Pointing to an unopened package on their table, as in that was for him, she recalled what had happened. "Everyone's going to be divided into teams, and the crash course on the roof will test magical ability, etc etc."
Was he always this late for his classes? The teachers must have a fit, there were so many tardies these days. Hoping Hubbles would put the three in the same group - highly unlikely, but she could wish - Erys grinned, taking a bite out of a bologne and cheese sandwhich. Downing that with some more water, the dominant beverage in her drink schedual, she waited for everything to begin. Maybe Veata hadn't taken Charms this term.

Joshua smiled back at her and took a swig of water himself. "Who you calling a loser?" Joshua joked back, then looked at her in shock horror. "You mean I missed chocolate frogs?"
Despite his lateness, Joshua's grades were among the highest in the school. He worked hard, studied late and had an innate ability for magic. Still, that hadn't stopped a couple of detentions for tardiness. Ah well, he couldn't have everything. He just wasn't great at being on time. Taking a look around he realised they were the only three Slytherins in the area, grouped together like an exclusicve clique.

"So its an obstacle course. What kind of things will be handling?" Sarie said. She felt something on her back. She checked her back with her hand to find it covered it chocolate.

Balling her hands into fists, she pretended to punch him, since he knew she could kick his ass any day. "I'm calling you a loser. The chocolate frog is for you." She grinned, laughing. "Right Ange?" Looking at her friend, for backup mostly, the Slytherin watched as Sarie found the chocolate she wiped off on her shirt. Laughing even harder now, the hyper girl started tearing up, coughing to try and hide it. Leaning on Joshua for support, she clamped her lips shut, crying now. "Sorry, I.. Choking on a frog." Erys explained, it being a complete and utter lie but nobody would notice. She was the master at deceiving people, if not one of the best.
Creating a few gagging noises to make her excuse seem legit, the Slytherin wiped the water from her eyes, calming down with a few ha's left. "Whew.. That was nice." She grinned dreamily, missing the last time she had a healthy laugh.

Maria sat down and looked around the room. They were going to be teamed up. She didn't like the thought of it. Looking over the faces of the other students she realized that she had never even had a conversation with most of them.
She looked at the food and drink, and shook her head slightly, not really in the mood. The thought of having to work with someone that she didn't know very well, made Maria nervous. Her eyes landed on Professor Hubbles and rested there, waiting for this class to begin.

Angel had to admit she hadn't really wanted to be in that class but hanging out with Erys had made it a lot more interesting. Angel hadn't gotten to know her too well but she was regretting that now. She was definitely her type of girl. Hoping she'd get to rectify that she stuck with her. There was no way she wanted to be near any of the others that were there. Erys was also into her plan about screwing with the Ravenclaw girl but she knew they'd have to be discreet about it. Last thing either of them wanted to do was loose their house points.
She was starting to wonder what they'd be doing in class the professor was keeping his mouth shut and it was starting to become annoying. She was about to do what Erys had done and ask herself but finally he told them. She wanted to hate this lesson but it actually sounded really cool. Moving to table with Erys she sat, and looked around soon seeing another Slytherin emerge. It was Joshua and Erys called him over to them.
Now there were three and it was fine with her she knew that between them all they would surely win this. Erys called her name and she looked over having been lost in thought she wasn't sure what was said, when it doubt her mother always told her just nod yes, so she did. Then as she looked at her friend she watched her eyes on some little Gryffindor girl who seemed to have chocolate on her. When Erys started to "choke" Angel couldn't help hear it as a laugh.
Putting two and two together she pretended to be helping her friend and she moved closer whispering.
'Was that on account of you? If it was that was bloody brilliant I must say.'

Post by Girty Hubbles on Sept 4, 2007 9:16:32 GMT
Dan’s lesson was always one Girty looked forward to the most, not only because he was her brother but also because she knew that he hated sitting down and talking straight at the class, he needed some action to keep his sort attention span and by the sound of his mumblings the other night in the common room this was going to one of those lessons where things happened. Slowly marching up the trap steps towards the trap door Girty saw the patchy sun light come filling through the hatch and this only spurred her on. As soon as her head pocked out the top and she pulled herself up onto the roof Girty looked around at the students sitting at tables eating chocolate frogs and drinking Butterbeer. It was rather serial to see, particular Dan sitting in his deck chair. Grinning broadly Girty looked around for any other Hufflepuff’s and saw Maria who she knew from Quidditch.
“Morning Maria.” Girty waved at her and wondered over to the table where she sat and slid into the closest chair. “It is a good day for it, would be killer if it was pouring with rain. Just think how slippery the beams would have been.”
Girty gave a small shudder at the thought of slipping off the roof and plummeting all the way down the castle walls, but in the back of her mind she knew Dan would have put on some form of enchantment to make sure no one got hurt otherwise he would not have been able to do the lesson. That is if he had got permission.

‘The lesson is on the roof!’ Heidi hated heights, she hated even more the idea of casting spells on a top of a castle that was hundreds of years old, the chances of it being safe were slim. So as Heidi began the long walk to the Astronomy tower it felt like she as trudging to her death, he bubbly personality being hindered by the pure fear of falling to the ground. Slowly climbing up the steps she could hear the sound of many voices, the lesson was pretty full and as her head pooped up through the trap door a wide smile filled the Hufflepuff’s face as she saw her best mate Vicky sitting at one of the table. Just the mere sight of her friends helped fight the fear as if anything she could cling to them for safety.
Keeping well from the edge Heidi made her way straight over to the Ravenclaw give a small wave at her fellow house members and a rather long gaze at her head of house who seemed to be making the most of the autumn sun. Diverting her gaze back to Vicky Heidi sat down upon on of the chairs slumping into it straight away, she might as well get comfortable as Professor Hubbles was known for his laid back lessons.
“Morning Vicky. This very different from normal I hope he does not expect us to fly at all. My feet will be staying firmly on the ground….well roof.”
With a rather nervous laugh Heidi rested her elbows on the table and looked out over the castle grounds. It was a very nice view, maybe that was why the professor brought them up here although they could have had that by looking out a window. With a small glance around the room she became aware that there was quite a few Slytherin’s which was never a good combination.

Maria looked up as two more girls walked into the classroom. She waved the one, whose name she couldn't remember and then looked over at Girty, who had sat down beside her. "Morning," she replied with a smile, glad to see someone she knew was in this class as well.
Maria thought about having to come on the roofs when it was raining and then shook her head. She had never been particularly afraid of heights, but she could say that having to be on the roof in the rain might make her a little nervous. "Yeah, good weather's always a plus."
