With the new term almost upon us ((I am guessing this seeing as the month is now June!)) I was thinking that maybe it was time for us to get the whole plot ideas running again. I was re reading through all of your previous plotting and ideas and I hope that I have come up with something that will satisfy most of you! Of course feel free to add to it, criticise and of course tell me to shut the hell up hahaha!
Ok so this plot is that over the summer some random casts Dark Magic upon the school. No one knows about this until all the students return to the school and start to cast spells and all the magic dust or whatever all adds together and starts sparks the Dark Magic into action. ((lol how convincing and well put together is that sentence hahaha!)) The result is that the portraits, sculptures, suits of armour and Gargoyles on the roof start to come to life! DUN DUN DUN!!!!
Yeah ok I know sounds rather tacky at first but the idea behind it is that it is a threat to the school, focuses mainly on the students but also the adults can join in. (Professors being protective and Ministry member coming into try and sort the problem out!) Also it means that people can have plot lines within the main plot but also you can keep doing your bog standard threads without it being affected too much. It would also give a chance to use your imaginations and come up with some wacky threads…I mean the spell could also take people into the portraits so students get sucked into it and stuck in the 2D world or something.
So that is all I have really so far…it is just a concept idea really so please please please input and everything or like I said before you can tell me to shut the hell up hehehe!

That's a wicked idea, Liz! What makes you think it's tacky?
We've had a lot of Dark plots but they've usually focused around the adults, or haven't really had a strong magical focus. This sounds like we could really use our creativity! A random, powerful force giving statues and armour their own ideas would really add some fun to action threads, and being pulled into portraits, photographs or magical books could let people explore their more nightmarish quailities.
We've all used talking statues, armour and portraits in threads before, but having them evil and monsterous would be a pretty awesome twist, no? I remember a cool thread Gail and Liz did with Dark masks - those kind of threads where everything is sinister, sureal and mysterious always rock, and it's always better when no one knows what the hell is going on!
I don't have any other ideas at the moment. Anyone else? It ended badly, but we never really had a proper discussion on the epidemic idea. I'm more in favour of this one at the moment though!
EDIT: Just remember Darin has a character called Linus who unkeeps Hogwarts's portraits and paintings. He's creepy and mysterious, so check him out.

Well I think this might just be the best idea ever! Congratulations Liz, I think we have a winner, you clever bugger. I agree with Amy, it would give plenty of opportunities for everyone on ridd to roleplay and have crazy threads and they will all work!
LOL, I just got images of the quidditch teams getting bucked off their brooms like horses!
So yes, I think we should definately do this!

Dude, Liz! That's a great idea. I like it because there's not intangible complexity like our last one. It's simple but eerie, and if characters add a bit of intuition, threads will own.
Getting sucked into portraits is what I'm looking forward to. And there are tons of secret rooms around Hogwarts that one can discover with objects inside. I mean, I don't have any deep ideas or add ons to the idea right now, but as usual:
Who is the person who casts random spells? This could make it too complex, though. I mean, we could call it a side affect of being next to the forbidden forest and all its dark creatures or something else that doesn't peg it on anyone in particular - to basically ignore that aspect.
And, oh man, we could find corrupt pensieves and things. All you can trust are the people of Hogwarts, which means we're finally doing a plot with unity rather than all the split alliances. I like that a lot.
Thanks Liz
And yes, I do have a character named Linus. He erases portraits forever or draws them into existence. He will certainly be drawing some terrifying things once he realises the portraits are outwardly sinister.

Oh, this is a stellar idea Lizard dear! I do have a question though, how would this affect Hogsmeade residents? I mean, obviously they cannot get sucked into portraits since they do not spend the majority of their time at the castle, but I think we should try to include something for them!

Well I'm guessing if Hogwarts's furniture is going to start going walkabout, Hogsmede - and the Forest, actually - are bound to find a few ill intent knights and gargoyles haunting their doorsteps?
And oh man, Linus will be in his element for sure!

I think with Hogsmeade residents, the magic could still affect them, like the person or whatever could of done the same to them, so in the shops the clothes would attack the customers, the books would all turn into monster book of monsters and snap at your feet, quills would tickle you until you laugh so hard it hurts etc...
EDIT: Damn you Amy Ninja of Amyoko!! Haha.
Yeah I mean people who have paintings up in houses will be affected, statues of armour etc will come and effect them also, it's limitless really.

Ooooh I think this new plot could turn Yorick and Brooke's Shrieking Shack thread into something interesting, don't you, SJ? Aside from the lovely kiss they're about to share, of course! We've got something chasing them around in there - why not make it a hint of what's to come?
Although, as Liz suggested, this Darkness is meant to infect the school over the holidays, right? Hmmmm...

I think that's a great idea!
I also have a character called Tira Banges, Unspeakable, Dervish & Banges shop owner and Worker for the Department of Mysteries. I had an idea that she and other unspeakables or ministry officials etc that could steal an object and because it's been stolen that it is this that starts the whole thing off..
Or she could get an object in her shop and that could start it off...Does that make any sense? *reads back*....Haha....Well I hope you know what I mean!

ooh! I just had another idea! For anyone who has seen 'I am Legend' this should make sense to you, but anyway what I was thinking, that anyone who gets sucked into the portraits becomes a zombie-like thing and attacks other students. we could have it so they can only come out at night or on really foggy days, so when the sun is out, they have to go back to the portrait, but once the sun goes down, they roam the castle and the grounds, and Hogsmeade and the teachers and students all decide to barricade themselves in their rooms when night falls. anyone fool enough to go out at night...well, it was nice knowin ya! Unless they had a candle, or some sort of light, that would drive them away... so, anyway, that's just my idea, like Liz said, feel free to add to it, critique it, or tell me to shut the hell up! lol. oh, and whenever the dark magic is lifted, they would go back to normal....

If anyone remembers back to the beginning of the Ministry-comes-to-Hogwarts plot, the foundation of that was to do with a mysterious, powerful Item they wanted to steal from Hogwarts. It was somewhere in the school and no one really knew what it was, but it was highly sought after by a lot of different organisations - ie the Rogues and Red Rose League. I'm not saying revive that old plot, but I reckon that'd fit in quite well as a background. Whatevers causing the castle to come alive has been there for a while, and it's growing in strength... plus, I still totally bum Gabriel Vandesar. He was my hardass Unspeakable.
Oooh good musings, Kris. The idea of infected students would've worked great with the epidemic plot, wouldn't it? We never totally rejected that idea, if I remember. The discussion thread just went a bit wrong! What do other people think of Kris's suggestion??

Yeah that would be cool. Have the epidemic come in the middle of confusion. Then the school will be full walking dangerous suits of armor, messed up portraits. The dark magic could change the portraits personally. Some one mentioned all of the secret rooms at Hogwarts people could find them while they're stuck in the portaits and then get stuck in there with no where to go. This plot sounds fun I vote for it.

Positive Feed back, that is always good!
I also like the ideas you guys have been having…to be honest I completely forgot about Hogsmeade so glad someone brought it up and the ideas you guys have had seem cool! But like (I think it was Amy) said that it would more then likely been the rouge creatures/items from the castle rather then things in Hogsmeade coming alive.
I love how you are trying wrap in as many plots as possible too! Taking aspects of the Epidemic and Ministry/Dark power thing…I can easily imagine that after a while the plotline of just one of these would just waste away and get dull so having a few on at the same time could work well. Also love the part about secret rooms too and possibly where they end up after being sucked into the portraits…you guys have been on fire today!!! *round of applause*

damn you people, nicole was having a no-thinking day until now ):
Uh... I'm just going to throw this out if you don't mind, ignore it if you don't like it since whatever, I'm just bringing him back from the epidemic. When we were talking about how the epidemic started, we said there was a summer janitor that infected the school. Maybe with this plot he could be a corrupted squib that hates Hogwarts? Or he could be paid off by some mysterious dark person ( but I hate the idea of almighty bad guys ). Or he could be under the Imperius curse ( what I said above )... I don't know. But it'd maybe be fun to have a little story behind how it got to be like this, something that the ministry, professor, and students that are interested can look into while they try to fix the problem.
And maybe if they start to get closer to finding the answer, the things could be a little more violent and trying to stop them, kill them, whatever to keep them quiet.
( I watch a LOT of law and order, CSI, and Bones. so I love those crime-solving shows and I think that would be fun to RP. <3 )
