Charlotte smiled and scooted near the welcoming guy, a friend was always welcomed, and she gladly expected his offer. She had just opened her mouth to say hello when the professor began to talk. As he winked at her, relief flooded her mind. If the teacher was aware of her being there, and she hadn't been booted, then perhaps she was in the right room.
having become comfortable she listened intently and smiled as the professor spoke of his own uninteresting first crystal ball experience. If he never saw anything then perhaps it wouldn't be so horrible if no ones else did. She pulled her legs up, sitting cross legged on the chair, balancing quite well. She watched as the first girl stood, tried, and saw nothing.
Child-like curiosity made her antsy, and she shifted in her seat. She desperately wanted to try, it seemed like a fun activity for class, but she kept quiet and as still as possible; she still didn't want to make obvious the fact that she was the only first year in here. So instead she concentrated and watching the swirling fog, twist and undulate within its glass container.

Allion nodded a bit at Girty as the girl stood up to take her chances with the Crystal Ball. "That's right, Miss. Hubbles..." He said, softer than before, also peering into the fog in harmony with the Hufflepuff.
Just as the fog was becoming transparent, Allion's glazed eyes becoming increasingly more cloudly and the small smile at the edge of his lips becoming more prominent, Girty stepped away from the orb. A look of defeat was placed on her delicate features, and Vickers lowered his wand quizzically, the pull of the orb fading.
Then, Allion beamed and walked over to his student. "I'm very impressed." He said, clapping her gently on the back. "It is not necessary to have a practiced Inner-Eye to perform Crystal Ball gazing. You see..."
Allion slid between two seats, one of which occupied a Miss. Belmont, whom he gave a slightly amused glance to.
"Whether it be tealeaves, crystal balls or the stars-- they're all like magnifying glasses for the Inner-Eye. As long as you can read the signs, and have intuition enough to add personal interpretation to your readings, you will excel with Divination."
His chalk snaked down his leg, coming out just above his shoe, and raced toward the board. Allion watched it with a grin as it drew a distorted Girty Hubbles in front of a crystal ball displaying a number of different shapes.
"My chalk seems to think, Miss. Hubbles, that you are exceptional at Crystal Ball gazing."
Moving back to his original spot as a spectator, he crossed his arms and nodded at Girty, signaling her to try once more.

Lisa leaned forward on her seat, elbows resting on knees. Her eyes were wide as she regarded the large orb sitting in the middle of the room. Not particularly acing Divination at the moment, she wondered if magnifying the image by ten could also magnify her ability.
Tapping her chin thoughtfully as the professor said having the Inner-Eye wasn't necessary, she finally decided that later on in the lesson she'd give it a try.
After a moment, she tipped the chair on its front legs and watched closely at Girty, offering an encouraging grin.

The professor seemed to think that Girty could mange it, and so did his chalk. Girty could not help but giggle as it drew a rather ruff picture of her. Tilting her head side ways to get a better view of the drawing only made her smile even more. She did not know what Professor Vickers had done, and why a picture of her was on the board but it seemed to have worked. Confidence began to fill the Hufflepuff and she pushed herself off her chair and wondered back over towards the huge orb. With a deep breath Girty looked into the fog and tried to forget everything that was buzzing around in her mind.
'Focus Girty, come on deep breath, breath.'
After running herself through the breathing pattern she had be taught during her time in Animagus tutoring. Slowly her whole body began to relax she kept her gaze focused on the fog in the orb. It began to swirl around and become more transparent, then after a few more minutes shapes began to appear beneath the fog. A bright light could be seen, followed by dark, long, rectangular shapes. As the fog began to lift more the light was coming from an orb hanging in the air, the shapes were becoming more regular and stationary, like trees. ‘The forest’
Girty slowly came to the realisation what this scene was, it would be an up coming full moon. She took a step backwards and broke the connection. The dark shapes and the bright light were soon consumed again by the fog and Girty was left standing next to it blinking slowly. With a deep breath Girty turned and returned to her seat, still speechless, all she could hope was that the scene would not come true.

Olivia looked horrified as the Professor came over and sat between her and Girty. She managed to smile at him, when he glanced at her. He probably knows I've been dreading going up. Olivia thought. He's going to put me on the spot.
However, what he said made her perk up in her chair. It had gained Olivia's attention. So, she didn't have to have the great all-seeing magical inner eye to gaze into a crystal ball. Olivia liked to think that she had good intuition. Maybe she could do it after all. Still, she didn't want to go up just yet, but she sat up in her chair, suddenly interested in Girty's second try.
Olivia's eye widened as she saw Girty's face. She had obviously seen something. Gosh, Professor Vickers was good.

Although Shabnam was very eager to peer over Girty's shoulder and examine what could possibly come out of the mysterious fog, the small fragment of Professor Vickers's yellow chalk that had broken off upon finishing the intricate circle was discared on the worn floor about two feet away, yellow powder lying around it. Her eyes darted uncontrollably toward it, and despite her attempt at self-control she could not help but inevitably reach forward and grab it. Why it was so interesting she didn't know, it just felt important.
As she went to move backwards onto her seat, she glanced up to see something forming in the crystal ball before Girty. For a moment all that was shown were thick black lines like wallpaper, but a moment later the scene moved to show treetops, and the moon...
'Girty?' Shabnam mouthed as the other Hufflepuff jumped backwards, quickly retreating back to her seat. She seemed shaken and embarrassed, glancing at people as if in hope that no one else had seen. Standing up properly, chalk held in one hand loosely, Shabnam slowly looked at Professor Vickers, still confused by what she'd seen. 'Can I go next?' She asked, stepping up to the ball, although waiting for approval...

Allion stared at the crystal ball in silence once Girty stumbled back, a thoughtful look on his face. After a short pause, his clear gaze traveled to one of the windows and he stared at it intently for a minute, before breaking out into a brilliant smile.
"Well done, Girty!" He exclaimed suddenly, interrupting the stunned silence. "I'm especially impressed with how you were able to focus all your thoughts, where even the rest of our presences around the crystal ball didn't effect your reading. Ten points for that remarkable display, I think..."
He looked over at his board with a soft smile, clearly waiting for his chalk to sketch a bright yellow "10" in it's usual, enthusiastic way. When it didn't come, he arched a brow, though turned away with a careless grin and looked over at Shabnam.
It was then that he noticed the yellow chalk submitting to her hold, not even restraining the least bit to jump at the board. In fact, it seemed to quite enjoy being in the girl's presence, and Allion smirked in an easy way. "I see my chalk wants to be the star of our class today," He said, walking over to his desk and pulling open a drawer.
Pulling out another, he winked at Shabnam. "I think it likes you. It's quite stubborn, so I really don't think there's any choice but for you to keep it."
Then, writing the ten on the board himself, he stared at it appreciatively for a moment, before the image of Girty vanished. She still seemed shaken, so he walked over to her and nodded to her seat. "Seeing images in the Crystall Ball is usually so draining the first time, as you're resigned to the fact that it will be another empty reading."
Standing behind Miss. Hubbles after presenting her with a kind smile, Allion then turned to Shabnam and gave her an unusual look, his eyes more out of focus than usual. "Of course, Miss. Snapdragon," A few amused looks chorused throughout the classroom at her last name, though none were malicious. "Seems the Hufflepuffs are outdoing the Gryffindors in bravery." He said jokingly, his eyes coming to rest on the chalk in Shabnam's hand.
His lips turned up even more than they already were, and he looked oddly excited as he waited for the fog in the Crystal ball to subside. 30 20 20 50

Ashton gave Shabnam an encouraging smile, then he figured it'd probably be a good idea to take some notes. Unfortunately, his bag was near the back of the room sitting in a chair where he had set it at the beginning of class so it wouldn't be in his way. And he didn't want to disturb the class by getting up, Not a problem he thought cheerfully to himself. He closed his eyes and concentrated, when he opened them his bag had lifted clear of the chair and was now hovering in midair. Ashton stared at it intently for a moment and it began to float over the heads of his fellow classmates. The bag weaved around Professor Vickers' shoulder and settled in front of Ashton with a small bump. Ashton smiled as the bag opened and his red and black notebook lifted out and settled into his lap; opening to a fresh page as it did so. Then Ashton remembered that he had forgotten his quill and ink, looking around he spotted a rather nice quill laying on a table nearby and an inkwell right beside it. He lifted his hand and made a small beckoning gesture, and the quill and ink soared towards him and he caught them in his outstretched hand. As soon as all this was done, he turned his full attention back to Professor Vickers.

Snapdragon. She grinned at the name, it was a very pleasant name and she liked it alot. She noted the girl, and wandered if she was as neat a person as was her name. She frowned suddenly, this was going rather slow, and wondered if she'd be able to snag a turn before the class time elapsed.
With this thought yet another, came up, as she remembered a phrase he just stated only a matter of minutes before. She slowly raised her hand halfway, and spoke softly, just loud enough to be heard. "Even if the crystal ball is like a magnifying glass, can you still be a.. um.. Diviner or.. Seer even if theres no existance of it in your bloodline?" She was curios, and that always brought a good amount of questions, but she'd only ask one for now.

Shabnam tightened her fist around the chalk as Professor Vickers came to use it. There was a moment’s pause as he slowly looked around with a grin, his ethereal gaze stopping on Shabnam. She gave an guilty-innocent smile, but it seemed it wasn’t needed as Professor Vickers speculated the chalk’s preferences. Smitten with his understanding, Shabnam stood up and walked over to the oversized crystal ball. It was quite close to her face, and as she breathed steadily she saw that the fog beneath the glass parted and coiled as she exhaled, as if disturbed by her breathing.
Feeling everyone’s eyes on her back, Shabnam placed her hands on the ball – the chalk pressed between the glass and her palm – and narrowed her eyes, willing the fog to shift.
As she stared, stone still and unblinking, Shabnam’s gaze changed to resemble that of Professor Vickers’s, glazed and clouded, dull yet luminous at the same time.
The room around Shabnam faded out, and she was left staring at a giant doorway. It was made of stone, several large shapes carved around the edge of it, although they were so worn – some parts blasted away by what looked like explosives or dark magic - that they were nearly impossible to make out. A bird of some sort… and a snake… the tail of a beast? That was all she could discern. The door itself was made of a shining black glass. Shabnam could see herself reflected in it, just as she was now. And also in its reflection, stood in a line behind her where the rest of the class should have been, was…
The fog plummeted back over to scene, swallowing it up in a dense, cold grey.
Hands falling from the glass – her fingerprints lingering – Shabnam closed her eyes for a moment, her pupils returning to normal as she opened them again.
‘A closed door.’ She said disappointedly, turning around.

Ashton gave Shabnam a sympathetic smile as she sat down. 'You'll do better next time' he mouthed encouragingly. He nervously raised his hand, "Professor? May I try next?" he lowered his hand and bit his lip nervously not sure what the answer would be. Sure, his psychokinetic skills were impressive, but this was Divination... Professor Vickers probably wouldn't care if Ashton could move things just by thinking about it...

Just as his chalk disappeared beneath the folds of his sleeves, a school bag spun around Allion's shoulder. It glided merrily over heads, along with his best quill and inkwell, both of which were soon held securely in Ashton's hand.
He watched with a raised brow as the Ravenclaw began to write roughly in a notepad for a few moments, before turning away with a wide smile. He decided the boy would find out, sooner or later, that the ink had Divination properties, and whatever he wrote would become an elaborate reading of his future the next time he opened his notebook.
However, it would be written in a language only comprehensible to centaurs.
His gaze traveled from the Ravenclaw to a hesitant hand barely visible in between the cluster of Hufflepuffs beside her. Listening to her question with a slanted smile, he nodded to himself before crossing his arms and turning to Shab who was beginning her reading.
"True seers are able to give prophecies without the help of a crystal ball, or a drab set of tea leaves," he said with a sweeping look over his classroom, and eying the various trinkets. "Such items are used as a replacement, or enhancement, for those without the inner-eye." He turned back to the first-year with a kind smile. "However, even true seers," he said the word with the slightest hint of amusement, "Predict as few as two or three prophecies in their entire life, most being dull and unimportant.
"I am most positive that any predictions you make with an odd teacup," he pointed his wand at a shelf jammed with at least a dozen, and a quaint blue one landed in front of Charlotte. "Will be more important than 95 percent of this generation's prophecies."
He trailed off as the previous quiet became distorted with loud whispers, and turned to Shabnam who was finally beginning her reading. However, it seemed Allion was avoiding looking at the crystal ball all together, his distant smile focused on a second year who was reaching out a hand as to touch the orb, only to find himself held back by a standard barrier.
When Shabnam finally stepped away, the crystall ball instantly becoming a dull orb once more, she gave him a careless look. Allion, for once looking most aware, cast a glance at the four hour-glasses and watched as a few more yellow stones dropped into one of them.
His eyes lingered on it for another moment, before he nodded at Shabnam in approval. "Ten more points for Hufflepuff. Next class, open the door, and we'll make it twenty." He sent her a strange smile, before turning to Charlotte.
"Would you like to test out this theory?" He ventured, gesturing to the crystal ball.

She grinned excitedly, so there was a chance she might see something. She retained the same grin as the professor spoke more of the uses of leaves and crystal balls. She nodded in acknowledgment of his answer, and stifled a giggle about the amount and quality of a many seers’ prophecies.
As Shabnam recited what she had seen and backed away, she heard the gentle suggestion of the professor to take her own turn. She bit her lip, as she most oftenly did when nervous and thrilled, and slipped her feet from her cross-legged position. She inhaled deeply, and briskly skipped to the large crystal sphere. Her pale eyes focused, she scanned the fog. For a few moments it lay still and heavy like the fog most commonly seen on chilly mornings, but soon it began to take shape. It seemed there was a flickering pattern to the mist, and as she relaxed her nervous tension, it became clearer. It was a curtain, fluttering wildly in an open window, but it seemed beyond the open window there was a sort of wet grey blur, and she recognized it as rain. There was a soft flash of lightning, and then the loud snap of thunder. Clearly startled, she shut her eyes in a flinching manner, at the sound that had seemed intensely loud to her. She blinked again, looking back to see the familiar thick fog, as if nothing had been there. She looked around, briefly at the other students, who seemed not to have heard anything at all. She turned then to the Professor, “Um... I saw a storm, through an... Open window.” she grinned. It may have sounded like a foolish vision, but she had seen something and that enthralled her to no-extent. She hesitated a moment, before clambering back to her seat. The spot had remained warm, she had only been up for a matter of minutes.

Alexis had been sitting alone just observing the others. So far in divination she wasn't doing too well. The whole inner eye thing seemed to be lost to her. She wasn't sure why she decided on this class she never really set much store by it, she just thought it would be interesting. Unfortunately she didn't really have any talent for it. Something was going on though by Girty's area Alexis looked up but only momentarily. Now she was looking back down at the book on transfiguration she had on her lap away from everyone else's eyes. She felt a bit out of place in the stuffy room but knew she was just going to have to stick it out.
