An excitement was surging through the school as everyone made their ways back to their respective Common Rooms. Jac took her time, walking behind everyone else, eyes dragging along the walls at the paintings, many of whom seemed pleased to see her. She smiled meekly at them and made her slow way to the Common Room. Up the many stairs, around the many corners and to the portrait of the fat lady.
"Password?" asked the fat lady and her portrait swung open when Jac said the word. "Congratulations, Miss Biggerstall, I'll be sure to cheer for you from here," the fat lady said, beaming down at Jac as she made her way past. Jac grinned at her, "thanks." Support even from the portraits, could this get any crazier?
Apparently so.
When Jac entered the Common Room she had to do a double take on the room. Streamers and banners floated above the room, all emblazoned with the Gryffindor lion. Below them, where shabby couches had been, there were two large tables adorned with bowls of sweets, chips and punch, pitchers of butterbeer and large goblets and mugs, all carrying the Gryffindor red and gold. That's what hit Jac first, next came the loud music and the proud Gryffindors themselves who began cheering and whooping over the music as she came in. Jac beamed around.

Laughing boisterously, one arm slung around his dorm mate's shoulder, Elijah flung his head back and took a long, hearty swig of his butterbeer. Fast paced music by the century old band The Weird Sisters was pumping out of the grandfather clock in the corner, but the roar of the lions painted on the banners could still be heard.
It had been a mass joint effort from the whole of the Gryffindor House to prepare a celebratory and good luck party for their Champion long before the name had been spat out of the Goblet of Fire, but the excitement bouncing around the room was only amplified by the fact that it had been Jac's name - one of their favourite Gryffindors.
The fat lady swung open, congratulating somebody, and immediately the whole common room erupted in a thunderous applause, laughter breaking out at the pure shock and elation on Jac's face. 'Champ-ion! Champ-ion!' They were all chanting, and Elijah immediately elbowed his way through the crowd to reach her. 'Go, go Gryffindor and all that!' He grinned, wrapping a red and gold hanging around her like a cape. Someone even stuck a plastic crown on her head. 'I didn't have any doubts, Jaco. We're going to win for certain!' He beamed, pulling her into a tight hug.

Jac couldn't stop grinning stupidly at everyone as they crowded around her. She had known that there were party plans but, being as dreadful as she was with organising, she had had little to no influence. Her hair turn a proud read streaked with gold as she beamed at everyone. This she had been practicing for a long time and it came out perfect. There were so many people there, so many happy, proud faces that made Jac smile even wider.
Elijah was suddenly standing in front of her and wrapping a cap-like thing around her shoulders. She grinned dumbly at him and felt something be put on her head. She felt above her head and felt a crown of sorts and she barked a laugh. She set the crown skew on her head and grinned around. "Thanks, Eli," she said, patting him gruffly on the back. "Thanks everyone," she called over the throng, "I'm glad to see you're all behind me." It was a touching affair.

The Champion of Champions party was here at last; Gryffindors who'd disputed and argued over decorations and exactly what sort of party to hold; fancy dress or a boozy affair now set their differences aside and whooped long and loudly as Jac Biggerstall; their favourite entered.
Shrieking wildly after one to many butterbeers; which had somehow gone straight to her head, Sophie slipped past a kissing couple; caught up strangely enough in the moment, giggling she sidled past with a ear splitting grin as she encountered a rather baffled and blushing Jac, clearly overawed and amazed by the turnout. "Jac!" Screamed Sophie diving forwards and pushing away outstretched arms trying to get a fabled touch of the champion. "Give her some room to breath." Ordered Sophie with a grin as she gave Jac a hug. "Show's how much we love you eh?" She whispered into her ear; though it was more of a shout as the noise was so tremendous and tulmultous.
"There's nobody better'n Jac," exclaimed Sophie jubulantly allowing somebody else to give their heartfelt encouraging hug. "Ooh," squealed Sophie in excitement, grabbing Jac's hand and pressing a carefully wrapped present into her palms. "This is from Eli and me, hope it's useful."
Into Jac's hands had now been placed a curious and undeniably interesting object, at first glance it seemed solely and ancient pocket watch, scarred and battered, it would hang limply upon it's dirty, slightly rusted chain. The cover that clicked open with a dull clunking sound was inset with a single red stone forming the center of a silver design; a circular pattern interwoven to form a quaint otter form. Upon it's back etched in grim writing were the fated words;
Time is running out

Maxi had heard that Jac had been made the new Gryffindor Quadwizard champion and he was thrilled for her. He had only spoken to the girl a couple of times but she seemed like a nice person, a bit headstong, which obviously would help her in the tournament. Maxi smiled as he headed towards the party where Jac was holding it. Obviously in the Gryffindor common room.
He spoke the password to the fat lady as he got there, Our champions already inside! Give her all the support you can! Maxi laughed and promised he would as he walked through the portrait hole. He looked up at the banners and grinned, the Gryffindors were going all out this night that was for sure. He held open his bag and pulled out a few bottles of butterbeer and put them on the table. He turned to look for the Gryffindor champion.
He spotted her and walked over to her, giving her a quick hug. "Congratulations!" He said with a smile, thrusting a bottle into her hand. Everyone seemed to be happy that Jac was their champ, and of course he was, she was probably the best in Gryffindor.

Many people suddenly seemed to want to touch Jac, and she frowned. "It would be easier if you just took a picture," she called out and tried to shrug the hands off. Luckily, she didn't need to fight long for Sophie came to her rescue, as it was. Jac grinned a beaming smile at Soph as she ordered people to back up and even giggled a little. Jac hugged Sophie back and could feel her excitement and anxiety growing in her gut.
Jac stared at the present in her hand that Sophie had put there. She hastily wrenched off the wrapping and stared blankly at the object. It looked very much like a pocket watch but knowing both Soph and Elijah, it was no ordinary pocket watch. Jac grinned at it, then to Soph and Elijah. She hugged then both in turn and grinned back at the object in her hand. "Thanks, guys," she said weakly, "you really shouldn't have." She spun the ornamental watch around in her hands, fingered the engraving. "What's it do?" she asked, still spinning it around in her hands.
Jac pushed her crown a little higher on her head as she continued to stare at the watch. A voice broke into her thoughts and she quickly looked up to see Maxi walking towards her. Jac smiled and as them hugged, said, "thanks mate!" She couldn't believe people would go through all of this for her. Though Gryffindors do like a good party so I'm the convenient excuse, Jac thought laughing.

Elijah, at least a head taller than most of the people flocking around, heard Sophie's trademark squeal and began to seek out her blonde hair, finding it too late as she buffeted him out of the way and strangled Jac with a zealous hug in her excitement. He had last seen her sitting in the corner surrounded by a gaggle of girls, all of them eying lonely, venerable looking boys as if about to pick them off one by one. 'Room to breathe?' He teased, prising her off of Jac and holding her back playfully. 'I think your lung-crushing love contradicts that, Soph.'
It was then that Sophie produced the present Elijah and she had picked out in Diagon Alley several weeks ago during half-term. It had been a difficult affair, as Sophie had been eager to look in some of the shoddier shops, which were known to have a few dark items that were disguised as innocent pieces of jewelery - and Sophie had a weakness for pretty things, even if she didn't wear all of them - but Elijah had eventually submitted, making sure to lead her away by the scruff of the neck if she got too daring (or tried to spend too much).
They had eventually stumbled upon a large but unassuming antique shop, where Sophie had inquired about the pocket watch. Their faces had both lit up when they had been informed of what it could do.
'It's second hand, we know,' Elijah began, joining Jac's side and making room for Maxi, who he grinned at in greeting. 'And a little roughed up, but its actually pretty cool.' He grinned as Jac turned it over several times, pausing to read the writing. 'Ugh, just ignore that - swear we didn't write it!' He said, looking at it distastfully. 'You'll be pretty impressed when it changes. It doesn't really have a name, but...'
He now reached forward and pressed the small dial on the side. It popped open, revealing the clock face with handsome Roman numerals around the edge, including the date written in loopy letters in the middle. However, it seemed to have stopped working - the hands were had stopped on the time of three minutes past eleven, and the written date said it was January the thirty-first, the year eighteen- ninty-five. 'We almost put it back because we thought it was broken, didn't we, Soph? But the shopkeeper says it only works when something is about to happen for the owner, and the date in the centre tells you when.' He positively beamed, thinking it a marvellous invention. 'It'll tell you important things, like your friend's birthdays.' He teased sternly, for Jac had nearly forgot his last one.

Jac grinned at Elijah, he always made her smile. She could feel the cool metal of the watch warming up in her hand and it made her smile even more. As Elijah explained what the watch did, Jac looked from Elijah to Sophie to the watch and back again. "I don't mind second hand," she said absently playing with a deep gash in the cover of the watch. "Always means character." She looked up at Sophie and grinned.
As Elijah continued, Jac's green eyes went wide and sparkled with interest. "That is too cool," she said. When he mentioned remembering birthdays, Jac knew he was referring to her having almost forgotten his last one. She grinned, looking at Elijah now. "It's really great," she said, pocketing it, "and it'll definitely come in handy with the Tournament. Really thoughtful of you guys. Thanks." She hugged Sophie tightly and then Elijah, giving him a tight squeeze before releasing him. "Now," she said, clapping her hands together and looking around excitedly, "where's the drinks?"

Basil inhaled deeply. Unsure of whether he was anxious or excited - or both, rather - he contented himself with nestling into handsome chaise and nursing a heavy mug of some sort of mead. The boy almost disappeared between the luscious cushions.
Despite the breathless, seizing feeling of being around so many people all at once - especially older students - he couldn't suppress the massive grin stretched across his face. Everyone was so happy! He gazed admiringly at the dark-haired 7th year with glasses and the bubbling blonde as they presented some sort of watch to the Gryffindor champion. Then he traced the red and golden Gryffindor shield on his mug. His green eyes widened as his cheeks began to turn pink. Hic!

Ian enjoyed any excuse to have a party - and further postpone end of term studying - so as Jac entered the room, he was busy cheering on three fourth years who were gulping down butterbeers. His own sloshed merrily in his cup, dripping down the rim as huddled in a huge crowd, red and gold streamers swishing around his head.
It was when a new distraction caught the crowd's attention that Ian spotted Jac had entered the room. He smirked, setting down his mug and cutting across delirious house members to reach her.
"Biggerstall!" He called, squeezing past a the crowd of surrounding students and settling down next to Sophie, nudging her playfully. He knew that there wasn't a Gryffindor more fit for the champion than Jac, and hearing she was chosen had elated his spirit - and perhaps awakened a bit of house competitiveness. "Those snakes and badgers wont stand a chance against you!" As if emphasizing his point, one of the banners roared behind him.
He grinned a bit, stumbling over a few first-years that had followed him. He vaguely recognised a lanky blonde to be the one who had tied his laces together in the Great Hall a few mornings ago, and made a face.

Jac was grinning around again, as the throng surrounding the three seventh years grew more rowdy. She took a step forward and was surprised to see Ian striding towards her. She grinned widely at him as he stood between Soph and Jac. She began to laugh for no apparent reason, a hearty, cheerful laugh. All her nervousness was coming out in the only way she knew how, laughing. She quickly caught herself, though, and shut her mouth, blinking around at her friends.
"And let's hope that Raven's gone get any claws on me," she added with a chuckle. Her stomach suddenly lurched and growled loudly. She hadn't eaten much at dinner, she attributed this to nerves again. Jac put a hand to her belly and blushed the same colour as most of her hair. "Is there any food to go with that drink?" she asked both playfully and anxiously. She didn't mind if everyone carried on partying, as long as she was allowed to eat, Jac would be happy.

Drake was excited. He wasn't the champion and he was happy. Jac has gotten it. What a great way to show off the Gryffindor house then with Jac. Drake has an evil smile on his face as he heard Jac enter the common room from his dorm. He had planned a little bit of fun before the tournament and he wanted to try out something.
Mounting his broom, he flew off extremely fast down the stairs. Once in the common room, he flew circles around the perimeter of the walls and ended up aiming for Jac. His smile turned to a grin as he jumped off his broom in time land in front of her. He hugged her tightly and yelled, "CONGRATS, JACCY MCJACSTER!" he lifted her off her feet and swung her around on his shoulder before bolting around the room like an idiot, still carrying her.
Deciding to stop, he gently threw her on the couch and grinned widely. "JAC, JAC, JAC, JAC! CONGRATS!" he hollered. He felt naturally energetic.
It didn't help he had eaten over three-quarters of the Honeyduke's candy he bought along with bottles upon bottles of Butterbeer just a few minutes ago.

Jac heard her name be called over the crowd and she spun around to see who it was. Unfortunately for her, someone was standing on her cap and as she turned it was pulled off her and fell in a heap at her feet. Jac looked down at it and she felt the crown falling off. She lifted her hands, one to the crown and the other to her mouth. "Oh, Merlin's technicoloured pants," she moaned.
She remembered someone had called her and looked, while she could, and saw Saire jumping up and down and waving at her. Jac waved back and grinned at the enthusiastic girl. "She so cute," Jac said wistfully and turned back to her cap. She was about to bend down and pick it up when out of nowhere Drake appeared in front of her. Jac jumped, took a step back as far as she could without standing on people and grabbed her crown again. When she realised it was him it was too late for her to get away. She was warmly embraced and she began to laugh again because of the surprise.
"Drake!" she shrieked with laughter, as he lifted her off her feet. She giggled insanely girly-like and beat her fists gently on his back but rough enough so that he felt it and she kicked her feet, shrieking. "Dra-ake!" she cried again and was unceremoniously thrown onto a couch. Jac laughed and straightened herself on the couch. "Thanks for the lift," she said as she got comfortable. "Now," she said impatiently, "who's going to bring me something to drink?"

Poppy had spent all day trying to get the spell right. She had taken an old white dress and turned it into the perfect shade of Gryffindor maroon. She beamed as she looked at herself in the mirror. It was just perfect! She had curled her hair and gotten a big gold bow to put in it! She was so excited for the little party they were throwing for Jac. Jac was so cool! Poppy loved hanging out with her, and she was a champion! Poppy was amazed.Poppy ran downstairs just in time to see Jac walk through the portrait hole. She cleared the rest of the stairs in a little leap. She fought her way through the crowd of people. She saw Jac greeting others and she wanted to get to her even more. Finally she got through the last of the gawking people and ran toward Jac with her arms open. "JAC!!!" She yelled. "CONGRATULATIONS!" She said, jumping in the champions arms in a big hug. The little girls face was stretched into a wide smile. She was so happy for her friend.
