Upon Will's unimaginative witicism about Jonathan's person life, the man let forth a deep, slow laugh, throwing his head back in emphasis. With a broad grin and a clap he looked at Will. 'You are so funny, Mr Harris! Honestly, it's almost as funny as the ten points you've just lost - and I can plainly see Mr Simmons and Miss Hayes find you an absolute riot! Why look at them, they can hardly breath!' He gestured to them, the two students sat side by side with the most miserable expressions.
'And what's this, Miss Hayes?' He scooped up the book and looked down his nose at the front cover. 'Oh. Very interesting.' He said with bob of his head before promptly tossing it over his shoulder into the waste paper bin. He did so enjoy being needlessly evil.
The four students were now sat in a row before him. He leaned back, placing his hands behind his head and observing them. 'What d'you think, Professor Hubbles? Anything else we could possibly do to make this detention even more wonderful than it already is?' He smirked.

Dan looked over at Starsmore with a wide grin. “Well Professor I think we need to expose the reasons why these people are in here and then make them feel sorry for what they did. However we all know what Mr Simmons, and Mr Harris is in here for. And it is rather amusing that Miss Hayes is here too. Miss Hubbles is here as she cast a spell on a teacher and I do not care if it was me.”
Dan shot an evil glance around the room and his eyes settled on that of Loren. “Miss Hayes…you seem to have a lot to say. Lets play a very mature game of truth or dare. So Miss Hayes. Will it be a truth or a dare?”
This was very immature but it will most likely make them never want to have another detention with them again.

The Ravenclaw gawped in disbelief that her own head of house would be so mean to her - and to throw away a book of all things!
Loren look up from her lap, startled and confused by Professor Hubbles' proposition. 'T-truth or dare?' She wrinkled her nose at him, wondering if teachers were really allowed to be so cruel to their pupils. This was absurd! She had no doubt the professor would force her to confess something involving Will and Dax, as the two of them seemed to find their bizarre triangle very amusing.
Loren glared at him, tossing her hair so as not to look at him. 'I'm not playing. This is stupid.' She stated brattishly.

As Loren quite defiantly said no to the idea of a game of truth or dare Dan gave a small chuckle. He walked up toward the end of Loren’s desk and crouched in front of it. Sticking out his lip and pretending to pout Dan put on such a patronising voice that even a 4 year would want to hit him. “Is Loren going into a tantrum because we took away her book or because she is feeling hurt that Daxey kissed someone else.”
With another cheeky grin The professor pushed himself up and paced in front of the class. “It is cruel to torture poor Miss Hayes in such away as she is not here for the duel. Although from one rumour I heard she was being kissed by Mr Simmons here, when he noticed another girl, dropt Loren and ran after her. I believe this to be untrue as otherwise Dax would have a bigger slap mark on his face.”
Dan stopped directly in front of Loren and looked down at her. “How would you like to pass your detention time then Miss Hayes?”

Loren's jaw flopped open in sheer shock that Professor Hubbles would be so patronising and obnoxious - was this how detentions always were? Your dignity stripped away through mockery and heartless self-amusement by teachers? Her face redder than a cherry, Loren looked at Dax in devastation. He himself was staring defiantly ahead, equally red. Loren stuttered for a moment, wrecking her brain for a witty comeback or a way to deny everything, but found she could only managed an annoyed half-scream and folded her arms high on her chest angrily. It did indeed seem she was having a minor tantrum for the first time since she was nine.
'I want to spend it in silence!' She screeched, so embarrassed she could not bring herself to look Professor Hubbles in the eye. Only that morning he had been praising her for her charms work, and now he was treating her like a toddler!

Fin strolled in, happier than ever. This was going to be his first detention since he became head boy, and he couldn't wait to mouth-off to all the teachers under the protection of the Minister. "Howdy-ho, boyoz!" he screamed, arms wide open. "Ah, what a wonderful day to be alive, don't ya' think? So, where do I sit this time then?"

Tutting slightly Dan stood in front of Loren with his arms folded. “Fair enough Miss Hayes, if you want silence then I suppose we could just sit here in silence.”
With a deep breath Dan perched at the end of the table were Starsmore was sitting. He looked over at the laughter struck face of Girty, the confused face of Will, Loren’s red frustrate face and Dax’s dazed expression. With a small smile Dan looked around, this was no fun at all. Loren seemed so nice in the lesson earlier but now she was being a mardey teenager. What was wrong with having a bit of fun. Rising his eyebrows at Girty Dan gave a rather loud say and stood back up again.
“I’m sorry Miss Hayes it can not be done. The introduction of silence simply made it much easier to hear the sound of Mr Simmons heart break a little more. For Christ sake girl have a heart. Look at him” Dan frantically pointed at Dax.
“Does that look like a sane 18 year old to you. I may be bias as he is in my house and he is Girty’s friend but please Miss Hayes at least try to smile at the lad.”
As he looked up Dan saw another Boy enter. Rather shocked he pointed to the empty chair next to Girty and looked at the boy and the badge on his robe. “Sit down there ‘head boy’ and please shut up Miss Hayes wanted silence. You will only open your mouth when commanded do you understand.”

Fin gave an overly-enthusiastic, sarcastic sallute. "Yes sir, you bet I will sir! Nope, no noise out of me, I gaurantee it. Nope, not a peep! Quiet as a mouse, I can promise you that! Nothing less than absolute silence sir!"

Through Dan's wonderful taunt of Loren, Jonathan had been sat back in his seat, one hand clasped over his mouth as he tried to stifle his laughter. It was so difficult even his shoulders were shaking from the effort. 'Oh, come now, Loren,' He finally said, still chuckling with uncontrollable laughter. 'What kind of Ravenclaw throws such a tantrum?'
Drawing out his wand, he pointed it at her. 'And if you wanted silence you should have said!' He grinned fiendishly, having had quite enough of her childishly screams. 'Silencio!' Immediately Loren grabbed her throat, her mouth opening and closing as she gripped her throat. 'And please, don't remove it. You're not the only one who likes peace and quiet you know...'
Standing up now, Jonathan slowly paced over to Fin, his hands tucked in his pockets. 'And if it isn't the imfamous James Fin. I've heard all about you,' He said quietly with raised eyebrows. 'Care to tell us why you're here, lad?'

"Oh, I'm sure you have heard of me sir, I'm sure you have," Fin said with a smile. "And in responce to your query of why I am in your presence today Sir, I gave a First-Year a tail...and maybe a pair of long dog ears...but that's debatable. Personally, I thought he had big ears to begin with."

Jonathan considered the boy for a moment before smirking. 'Impressive,' he said with a slow nod. 'Personally I find it more honorable to go for the older ones myself - someone who can actually fight back.' He sat on the edge of Fin's desk and crossed his arms, staring down at Fin with a serious face. 'Picking on inexperienced first years isn't something I'd have thought the Head Boy would do.'
The Ravenclaw head of house looked at Dan suddenly, an expression of mock concern on his face. 'I think he's enjoying being here just a little too much, Professor Hubbles. What treatment do you suggest he under go?' He looked back at Fin and studied him as if he were a tragic mental patient, he himself a doctor.

"Well, if you didn't think it was something the Head Boy would do Sir, then I suppose you were wrong, now weren't you?" Fin replied, challenging the Professor.

Dan moved over and looked at the Ravenclaw, with a glance over at Loren he smiled. “See Miss Hayes, here is another Ravenclaw in detention and this idiot deserves it. I think what we need to do is take that shinny badge of his off. There is a muggle story where a man called Samson was really strong but it was his long hair that made him so, and one night his girl called Delia cut it off. Maybe if we take away this lads badge his ego will shrink?”
With a laugh he looked at the other people in the room. These Kids had to learn that there was time for everything. Having duel at lunch time was not one, casting spells on each other during lesson. They had to have the punishment for it, and humiliation was a very strong tool.

Dax listened to the Professor re-tell stories of what he heard and what he thought should happen. He kept running over in his head that he was Girty’s brother, his head of house. But it would not do. Pushing his chair out from under the table Dax stood up and faced the Professor.
“Will you leave her alone! She has done nothing to deserve you shouting at her. Please. Now take that spell off her, come on it just as against the rules for teachers to punish the pupils by magic as it is for us to use it on them.”
Dax heart was pounding in his chest, today could not get any worse and Dax hoped that at least this way he might win a tiny bit of honour back in Loren’s eyes.

Fin was suprised at the Hufflepuff's actions. Up until now he had always thought that he was the only one with the guts to stand up bluntly to teachers. He wondered what the relationship was between the boy and the quiet girl he seemed to be talking about.
