..I mean a thing like death... one would think that they wouldn't be the way they are. "The Thestrals are that way.." Nira began, her voice gentle. "Because death is peaceful. No matter how you die.. If you're murdered, or you die of old age.. Once the moment comes, everything is over. You feel nothing but a sense of calmness overwhelm you. Everything is soft, and beautiful." She explained, eerily recalling the experiance of death as accurate as she could. For she had died once, encountering a rogue Dementor in the Forbidden Forest. It sucked her soul out, ready to drink it completely while her soul hovered in the air, but somebody had saved her, fighting off the dementor and bringing her back to the school after her soul returned to her body. Nobody knew this had happened, except for that person.. Nira couldn't remember who had saved her, obviously. Joining the two with a small smile, she gracefully sat, crossing her legs. "Im sorry, I didn't interrupt anything, did I?" Truly appearing reproachful for what she did, Nira drew her hand up to her face, tucking a corner of her dark bangs behind her ear. She had been hoping to meet some new people, after being so shy for her first three years at Hogwarts. Really though, the witch shouldn't have gone around joining in other people's conversations when she didn't belong. She would be perfectly inclined to leave, if they wished it. "Im Nira Lanelle, fourth year." Hoping they didn't want her to go, like she imagined them to, Nira glanced to the skies, searching for Fang. The black raven was her familiar, her pet; he brought her mail and packages as well as any owl, but didn't hang out in the Owlery amongst the other big birds. They were quite dull to talk to, and he was the only black raven in there. She was glad she had thought to come outside and visit him, while making new friends as well.
As if willing it to happen, a small black shape appeared, calmly flapping its wings and soaring towards them. Closer now, Nira found it to be her lovely pet. No wonder she was in Ravenclaw. "Fang!" She cooed, stretching out her arms as if beckoning for him to come and hug her, when all he could do was perch on her shoulder. Reaching up to pet his silky feathers, she softly leaned her head to his side, her smile wider than ever. "This is my raven, Fang." Nira murmured, her voice affectionate when talking about him. "He brings my mail as well as any owl." Grinning with a chuckle, she stretched out her hand, palm facing up. The black bird flapped once, landing on it with perfect precision. "Want to pet him?" He didn't bite unless he could sense she didn't like them, which wasn't true. They seemed nice to her.

Sarie looked at the new comer. "Hi, I'm Sarie. Ohh He's pretty." She reached out to pet him. "You said his name is fang right. If you don't mind my asking how come you can see Thestrals?"

Ashton laughed. "Well, the only ones who can see thestrals, are those who have seen death, right?" he replied, sort of answering Sarie's question.

This giggling girl could not have bore witness to death, it would have changed her outlook on life. For the worse. Narrowing her eyes, Nira glanced at her raven for support, finally speaking after her bowed his head. "His name is Fang, yeah." Nodding, she added, "I can see Thestrals.. Because I died once." Smiling pleasantly, for it was no joke, the Ravenclaw withdrew her arm with Fang, nudging him quickly to allow him more time to fly. The atmosphere a little less happy now, Nira leaned her head to one side, curious as to who died in Sarie's family. "Who did you see?" Stretching her arms out to remove the stiffness, the fourth year sat back on a large boulder, crossing her legs over the stone. Assuming they might come up with even more questions for her, after giving them her answer about how she could see the Thestrals, Nira pursed her lips, awaiting their curiosity. Unless of course they wanted to give her more peace while she was resting at the lake, then they might keep quiet for a while. But the younger one was just a kid, and everybody knew how they wanted to know everything. That was alright, if they needed to know how could have possibly died and come back to life. Nira knew it was pretty incredible, and some people didn't believe it at all. But it was true. She watched herself die.
"A rogue dementor found me when I was a little girl." She began, "It sucked my soul out, but not inside of it. My soul just floated in mid air, but before it could be consumed, somebody saved me." Saying this with a warm recollection, Nira gave a crooked smile. "My soul returned to my body, and I lived again. I had seen the whole thing, because I was right by a lake." And that was her story! Shifting so that her legs were stretched out, the Ravenclaw shrugged her shoulders, as they had started to fall asleep despite the shortness of her explanation. So.. Did they have any more questions now?
