[Great Hall] Not a Morning Person

[Shane Ross]

Shane stretched his arms over his head, letting out a groan He pushed open the doors to the Great Hall and slipped inside. He looked around sleepily to see it was already crowded with students. He was always a little on the fashionable late side. Shane rubbed his blue eyes, trying to make them stay open. He hadn't even stayed up late at all last night. He just liked sleep and the more sleep he got, the better. Plus, he definetly was not much of a morning person. Shane tugged at the green and silver striped tie around his neck, pulling it slightly looser. His white button down uniform shirt was only half tucked in, making everyone aware of how tired he really was. Even the shoelaces of his green Chucks were untied.

Shane dropped onto the bench at the Slytherin table. He let out a yawn, not bothering to stifle it. He blinked sleepily a few times before snatching a piece of toast off of a plate in the middle. He took a large bite, chewed, and swallowed. After a swig of orange juice, he set his head down on the table and shut his eyes. Another yawn escaped his lips. So sleepy.

Nessa strutted into the Great Hall to find it practically empty, at least the Slytherin table was.

She was looking for a place to sit and spotted a boy who again looked much older than her. Geeze, she thought, aren't there any kids my age in this school? She had yet to see one.

She thought about sitting by herself a few seats away, but then thought better of it. I'm a Slytherin damnit, she thought, and first year or not I am not sitting by myself.

She strolled over to the boy but she did not sit down, yet, she was not that bold. At least not with a boy who liked like he could be a 7th year.

"Hi," she said cooly, "I'm Nessa, what's your name?" She gave him a slight grin hoping her wouldn't hate her but plastered a look of fake confidence on her face anyways.

[Diana Fortuna]

As Diana made her way the the Great Hall she sighed. It had been a long night and she had had very little sleep. However, from her appearance no one could ever tell that. When she finally went through the doors, she sighed to see it was crowded.

Everything was much to loud, she thought to herself. Sitting herself next to a guy that looked to be as tired as her she smiled. "You know if you sleep like that in the open you're at danger of being the daily laugh," she said whispering almost in his ear so that only they could hear it. She was always flirting even if the poor boy did seem much to tired to respond.

Then when the first year came up to them and began to speak Diana smiled lightly. She was a cute girl and she was rather surprised by her boldness. However, she decided it best not to say anything.

Shane heard a small voice next to him and opened one eye, turning his head to look at the tiny girl next to him. A First Year. How cute. He smirked slightly, inwardly rolling his eyes. However, unlike others her age, she had to confidence and the guts to speak to him. That scored her a few points in Shane's book. "Hello. Shane Ross." He said, giving her his name. "You can sit." He said, offering the seat next to him. It was not often Shane gave up the seat next to him for a meager First Year. Yet this girl had potential. She could be a great Slytherin if taken under the right wing.

Shane closed his eyes once more, burying his face into his arms. Not 5 minutes later, he heard a voice whisper in his ear. A very flirty voice. Shane smirked. He sat up, rumpling his untidy hair. " You do make a good point. But I think everyone hear knows my sleeping habits by now. And not to make a joke of them unless they plan on being very sorry later." He said with a sly smirk. He took another bite of toast, slightly more awake. Yet still very sleepy.

[Diana Fortuna]

Diana laughed lightly as she heard her name. "Shane?" she said with a bit of big eyes. How could she have been so stupid in not recognize him, she thought to herself. "Dear Shane I barely recognized you," she said truthfully. That was until she heard his voice in response to hers. "Ahh.. yes well I can only imagine what trouble you could cause for them," she said in a flirty tone but truthfully. Shane would always, as far as Diana knew, finish a fight in his favor and for that they were really good friends. Diana was and would always be one to have the last laugh.

As the girl sat next to him, Diana smiled. A firstie at their side of the table, that rarely happened. However, she felt like this girl was going to have much potential rather than the other ones.

Nessa smiled at Shane. "Shanks, I was going to anyway but I thought I'd at least ask your name first," she grinned.

Nessa took a seat next to Shane. She noticed another girl had come in.

"Hi," she said, "I'm Nessa." she said smiling at the girl.

She then turned her eyes back to Shane. She studied him very briefly. He was kinda cute, she liked his look. She liked guys like that. Although she knew it would never work so she pushed all thoughts of it out of her head.

"You look a tad bit tired there mate," she smirked. She wondered what had kept the boy up so late. She knew what had kept her up so late and smirked again. Man, she smirked a lot.

She reached for a muffin and took a small bite, she wasn't much for food. She had a distorted body image and always assumed she was fat, even though she was only eighy pounds.

Shane pretended to look hurt. " Ouch. That hurts. Not recognizing me." He jutted out his lower lip in a mock pout. He quickly broke out into a grin, though. He nodded. " Yup. It wouldn't end good." He said in a sly tone when Diana mentioned the trouble he would cause for them. Diana knew first hand what Shane was like towards his enemies and those he did not like. Diana was perhaps one of his best friends. Everyone knew Shane was a horrible enemy, but a great friend to have. He would have his friend's backs no matter what.

Shane heard Nessa speak on his other side and grinned sleepily. " Yeah, just a little. I wasn't even out late last night. I just like sleep." He explained to her. He finished off his toast and let out another yawn. He let his head fall onto Diana's shoulder, using her as a pillow.

Diana giggled lightly and turned a bit pink. "Now dear..." she started but noticed he was playing with her. She had a particular smirk on her face and finally let it go with a laugh. He could be one of the only guys that she knew that could flirt just as good as she could.

Hearing the girls name Diana smiled, "Diana Fortuna, it's a pleasure Nessa," she said politely knowing that when the girl heard her last name she would know all the dark that follows it. Diana's last name had to be one of the darkest wizarding names in this school. Her family was known for mingling in things that not even most dark wizards would mingle with.

As Shane rested his head on her shoulder Diana smiled lightly. "My dear with our reps, we cannot say that we went to bed at a resonable time and woke up tired... they never believe us," she spoke softly. People would never believe her when she said she was tired just because of the morning. They were always thinking that she was off and doing something she had no business doing. Diana wasn't such a trouble-maker, but who can say that she doesn't like mischief.

Nessa smiled at Diana.

"Nice to meet you too," she said.

"Well I know why I was up late last night and why I'm tired but I have a somewhat hard time believing you guys werent up almost as late as I was," she grinned mischeviously.

She may be wrong maybe they were just tired, but hey she was curious, and she couldn't think of anything else to say.

Shane grinned slightly. " Good point." He said, agreeing with Diana. It was very true. Slytherins were always known for doing things that weren't supposed to and breaking the rules. Shane was also quite the troublemaker. He couldn't help it. They way he saw it, rules were meant to be broken. " But I honestly wasn't doing anything bad last night. For once in my life." He added, smiling slightly. He stifled another yawn, closing his eyes and hiding their bright blue color from view. " You make a good pillow by the way." He added teasingly, a smirk on his lips.

Shane snickered. " Oh yeah? Well what kind of damage did you cause last night?" He asked Nessa. He wasn't even sure if she would tell him. When he was a First Year, Shane was constantly stirring up mischief. He imagined she was doing the same.

Nessa gave a slight mischevious grin at Shane's question. She wasn't one to kiss and tell. But she decided she'd devulge a little bit and see where it got them. Maybe they'd like her even more if they knew, after all the others certainly did.

"Well," said Nessa slyly, "Last night I met a few Slytherin's in the common room and they were playing truth or dare," she paused, "So I was challenged to join in with the task of making the quiet shy boy in the corner play with us," she grinned mischeviously before continuing, "Long story short we ended up in a snog that lasted quite a while, it was disgusting for me but the boy seemed to like it, even though he wouldn't show it," she said with a wink. "And did I mention he was a fifth year?" she added with a wink and a mischevious smirk to match.

Diana giggled as Shane spoke. "Oh well I guess there is a first time for everything," she said playfully. When he told her that she was a good pillow she smirked. "Thank you?" she said lightly. Her finger tips lightly ran through his hair as he closed his eyes. When Nessa asked her what she was up to the previous night Diana smirked. "Girl things," she said simply. Her and Bella had stayed up the whole night chatting about the things in there life. "And I know what you did last night," she spoke mischievously. She had been there to see everything and luckily no one chose her to do anything.

Shane just grinned when Diana said there was a first time for everything. Yes, it was a little hard to believe Shane had been a good boy and went to bed last night. Considering the type of person everyone else knew im to be. Shane laughed. " You're very welcome." He answered her. He felt Diana's fingertips running through his dark hair and a small smile played about his lips. If she kept doing that he was more than likely to fall back to sleep. He was quite comfortable at the moment.

He heard Nessa begin to tell her story and listened up. He was surprised she was actually going to tell, but wasn't complaining. This story was going to entertain him most likely. He let out a laugh when she had finished, grinning broadly. " Well sounds like you had a good night." He snickered. " Not that I blame you. Snogging is fun." He commented, a mischevious smirk on his lips.

"Well, it's fun with most people, although this boy wasnt on the top of my snogging list, a lot closer to the bottom actually," she smirked.

Nessa chuckled. She had forgotten that Diana had been present at that interesting moment.

"Yes, well we'll have to find a good dare for you next time we play," she grinned mischeviously. "And you should definitely join in on the fun Shane," she said with a quick wink.

Diana's fingers kept with the running through his hair. She couldn't help it they were very open with each other. As Shane smirked when he said snogging was fun, she giggled lightly. "Oh that I must admit with you," she said lightly.

"A dare for me," she laughed lightly. "Trust me you girls will have to find something really juicy in order to make me embarrassed," she said truthfully. Diana wasn't one to get embarrassed and so it didn't bother her. As long as they didn't bring up personal matters, she would be fine.

When Nessa said that Shane should join Diana smiled. Putting his hair behind his ear she laughed lightly, "You really should." She then whispered in his ear, "I'm sure something intense could happen that you would enjoy." Knowing from experience Shane was the type of guy that liked intense things and so all you had to say was that word and he'd pretty much say yes.
