Rainer closed the book. The novel steadied his nerves though he would, of course, never admit such a thing. I have no nerves. He smiles ruefully, setting the book on a nearby table with practiced disinterest as if in demonstration. Rainer had not heard his native language in weeks and despite the repeated insistence that he was just fine, he found himself on edge. A gust of wind rattles and thrashes against a window behind him. Turning, he appraises the landscape from where he sits, in that moment absolutely convinced that taking this job was going to be something he would come to regret. But who could tell, Rainer had always been poor with fortune telling.
He watches the rain, hating the weather in England.

[glow=lightgreen,2,300]Professor Dara walked into the staff room trying to find a quiet place after her class. She saw the Charms Professor holding a thick book. "Good morning Professor," she said, the noticed his gaze was towards the window, "Oh, well I suppose it's more of a damp dreary day isn't it? Sigh... Well at least we're inside, right?" she asked, glad that she had not been teaching about any large creatures that would require leaving the comfort of the castle.[/glow]

Algernon walked into the staff room, dripping wet. He shook his head, the water from his hair splattering every which way. He looked up, and, noticing that there were other people present, he looked apoligetically at them, shrugging. "I was up on the roof." He said, by way of explanation, then sat down, worry clear on his face. He was shivering and had the general air of being very disheveled. After thourroughly wringing out his robes over a sink, he turned back to the other two teachers, "Afternoon, Professor Didier. And I don't believe I've met you before, Professor...?"

Turning towards the two professors as if he had only just noticed them, he stood and straightened himself to his full height, making a great show of smiling kindly at the woman before fixing his eyes on the professor who had spoken.
gRainer Langley Freundschaft,h he replies coolly, taking stock of Alegernonfs shivering, slick skin and wet robes before continuing. gIfll be teaching charms this year.h Rainer extends his hand, spells for warmth pooling as imperceptible light in his open hand, his fingertips. gAnd you are?h he asks thoughtfully, his pronunciation careful and measured as any uttered magic.
Smiles again at the thought.

Algernon regarded Professor Freundshaft for a moment, raising an eyebrow skeptically. "Long name, that. The students are bound to give you some horrible nickname in no time." He grinned, reaching out to grasp Rainer's hand. "I'm Algernon Mon- Merlin, you're... hot!" he stammered, invoulantarily yanking his hand back.

Walking into the room and throwing his wet umbrella against the wall, Leigh strode into the the room and sat down on an available chair. He looked around and saw some other teachers in here.
"G'day everyone." He said, his Australian accent coming out. Now they know where I'm from... oh well. He thought as he saw the other Professor's wet.

gSo Ifve been told. Too hot for you?h Rainer grinns wolfishly at this, pointedly ignoring the comment about his name, his teeth bright. gIfm sorry, I just thought Ifd varm you up a bit.h A pause, his eyes flitting upward for a moment before settling on Algernon again. gYoufll forgive me wonft you? It would not be well of me to make enemies on my very first day.h Algernon will realize his robes have been completely dried in exactly seventeen seconds.

"Er..." Algernon stepped back, surrupticiously whiping his hand on his robes. The new teacher felt... strange. And wandless, non-verbal magic... that was high up stuff, right there. "I meant-- I was just surprised. I didn't expect you do to that." He glanced worriedly at Leigh, then back at Professor Freundschaft. "You know, generally we ask one another before magicing at them. But thanks, that feels alot better." Algernon gave a reserved smile. He didn't want Freundschaft to get the wrong idea... He loved Kieron. That was one of the annoying things about secret relationships -- Having no reason give attractive men as to why they should stop hitting on you.

gWell Algernon Mon- a very interesting surname if I may say so- I thought it better than to leave you cold and wet like that. Ifm always ready to lend a friendly hand, of course.h Rainer, straightens his dark robes self consciously. gMight I ask why you were up on the roof?h he asks doubtfully, glancing towards the window and the heavy rain veining on the glass. Rainer knew a perfect umbrella charm; he made a mental note to teach it to Algernon eventually.

Algernon flushed, running a hand through his hair; a nervous habit of his. "It's Algernon Moncrieff. And, well..." he examined Rainer, caught between suspicion and the desire to share with someone what he'd Seen. "The stars, they--" he waved his hands abstractly in the air. "Call to me sometimes," he continued, knowing how rediculous he sounded. "It's a gift I have." He shrugged. He certainly wasn't going to reveal the muddyness of his bloodline to -German- "It hurts, when I don't pay attention. So I went up there..." He gestured toward the ceiling. "But it cloudy, and very wet, and I couldn't really get much of the message."

gA gift, I see. Would I be far off if I were to guess that you are the professor of divination?h Rainer thoroughly hated all manner of psychics, seers and fortune tellers. This of course had nothing to do with the fact that he had never shown any aptitude in the subject, much to his extreme embarrassment in his early years. Even now after a lifetime longer than most muggles ever see, Rainer could still hear Erich Aubryfs lazy drawl ringing from inside his own mind. Oh Langley, what you think about at night in that head of yours makes even someone like me blush. You should be ashamed of yourself, but Ifm flattered. Rainer most certainly hated mind readers of any order. gWell, I suppose it must be a fascinating subject to cover,h he concluded flatly, painfully aware that even now mere thoughts of his childhood friend were enough to throw him off balance. There was no reason to be impolite. gIfm sure things will become clear to you in time,h Rainer began unsteadily, doing his best to sound encouraging.

Leigh sat there, slowly warming himself. "All teachers have the ways of instructing their students. Depending on the willingness of the students depends on how effective they learn." He threw in, just for safe mention, not caring if anyone took notice of him.

Apronia crept in the staff room door, surreptitiously hugging the wall. It was an old instinct from her childhood, don´t be seen. The staff was comforting and warm, but the presence of the other professors ironically made her uncomfortable, though it was to introduce herself to them that the Headmistress had suggested she come here.
She slid soundlessly closer to the corner, peeking to see if anyone had noticed her. So far so good...

Algernon narrowed his eyes, confused by Rainer's sudden coldness. "Er, yes... It's very interesting." he twisted his head back towards the door, gesturing towards it. "I should probably... go tell the Headmistress. " he concluded, then made for the door. As he left, he nearly collided with something he couldn't see but for a blurry outline, but he ignored it in his haste. He shouldn't have gotten caught up in talking to that guy, anyway. It was important that the Headmistress know what he had Seen.

Apronia frowned after the departing Professor. The man had crashed right into her and barely noticed. Was this the kind of dunderhead Hogwarts employed these days? Lucky for the Wizarding World Harry Potter'd long since defeated Voldemort, or the students would be...what was that english expression?...toast. She sighed and reached up to massage her impending headache.
Her hand, however, moved partway into her forehead before hitting a denser structure, and she held it in her field of vision, frowning. It was blurry and occupying a much larger area than usual. She'd had the same problem as a child, when she really didn't want to be seen, her magic would disperse some of her molecules over a wider area, acheiving an effect similar to a Blurring Charm, but more uncomfortable, since it wasn't her image that was being blurred but the actual lines between her body and the world. A terrible display of wild power that had once almost disassociated her entirely before someone had fetched a teacher, who'd spent an hour carefully calming her magic and reintegrating her parts. Like splinching but ad infinitum.
She took a breath, feeling her teeth attempt to grind together but managing only to pass through each other until parts that were still more or less solid hit. Be solid, dammit! She commanded herself, and felt her particles slowly settle back into her body. Her natural tendency towards disassembly was why she´d never learned to Apparate, another chip in her severely dented shoulder. When she was entirely solid, she looked up at the group of Professors, scowling and waiting for someone to speak.
