Leigh turned to see the dark figure dissipate into the darkness, his laughter ringing about the forest. Leigh sighed, knowing for now he was gone. Leigh then looked at Novella and saw her fear, her eyes filled with tears and he body shaking. He took a step towards her, caring for her well being, when one of the eggs in his robe suddenly began to twitch violently. He reached in and placed his hand around the now warm egg. He took it out and saw the cracks beginning to appear, with minor light seeping through them. The egg suddenly flung out of his hand and travelled towards Novella, where it began to lighten the forest further.
"Another this soon?" Leigh whispered to himself, standing in awe of the egg.

An instinct Novella wasn't even aware she had surfacing within her, she stood up, reaching out her left hand to catch the egg in its flight, Darin still cradled in the hook of her right arm. "This is..." She began, but stopped. The light... Suddenly, she felt a mind touch her own. There were colors, bright gold, dull copper, and then a word...
<Momma...?>
"What?" She asked out loud, unsure of where the sound which was not a sound had come from. The crack in the egg grew with a breaking sound, the light eminating from it brightening.
<Momma!>
Novella began to speak again, but the bright gold eyes opened within the egg and she knew... this was hers. This was her, this little dragon, and she felt for the first time in her life like part of her heart that had been empty was full. He... because it was a he, she knew that now, poked his head out of he egg, and, with an opening of wings, cracked through the shell. He was small, smaller than Darin, his wings paper thin and still covered with the goo of his egg sack, but his scales were a dull copper and his eyes a brilliant gold and he was beautiful.
<You're Loiosh.> She spoke into his mind, eyes filled with wonder though her face was still stained with tears.
<Loiosh!> The little dragon agreed. Then, catching a thought from her mind, <Sad...?> He asked. Without waiting for a response, he noticed Darin, the white ferret lying limp. He skuttled across Novella's arms, using the claws of his feet and at the ends of his wings to travel. Stopping before Darin, he nudged the ferret with its snout... and Darin lept up, scurrying up Novella's arm to perch on her shoulder, as if nothing had happened, the black aura vanishing.
Novella wooped with joy, reaching up to embrace both of them with a fury, the tears coming again but now out of joy, seeming to forget the others were watching her.

"A Peruvian Vipertooth and a Hungarian Horntail." Leigh whispered, wondering what the final dragon was inside of the last egg he had in his possession. Until the time was needed for it's hatching, it would remain in his possession, as it's powers are already linked to someone, someone who deserves them. Leigh kneeled down and looked at the little dragon, staring into it's eyes.
"Healthy enough." He said as he stood and turned to Apronia, suddenly forgetting about the dark figure and all that happened. Leigh looked at the smal Hungarian Horntail in her hands. "Also healthy enough."
Turning to look into the forest, Leigh sighed. He felt a kinship with the dark figure, whomever it was. He heard a muffled cry and turned to see who it was.

"Those... Those are Dragons!" Cain cried, pointing his small, wavering finger at the Hungarian Horntail. "Apronia, you never came home and I was scared and now you're in the forest with Dragons and you're gonna die we're all going to die!" His large blue eyes filled with tears, his breath coming short and rapid. "We need to leave now! NOOOOWWWW!"

Helia had been doing her nightly rounds around the lake when she had heard screaming. She ran over as fast as she could, "Professor Addis? Miss Silvanus? Bog? Cain?" she looked at the unusual group of authority figures along with a gryffindor girl she didn't know. "What's going on? Is someone hurt? What was all the yelling about?" she asked in a slightly panicked voice. It was then that her eyes fell on the two freshly hatched baby dragons, their broken eggs still glowing on the forest floor, "Oh, my..." her voice faltered. They were so beautiful! "A vipertooth and a horntail..." she stated with awe and envy, then something sparked in her mind, "Wait, where are their mothers?" she asked, worried partially that two giant dragons would come lumbering through to kill them at any moment, but also worried that the poor dragons would have no one to take care of them. They looked so fragile...

Apronia juggled the small, sleepy dragonling into her tunic and held out both arms to Cain.
"You were very brave to come here again, dear one. You're right, it's high time we left." she turned urgently to the students. "Any student who remains in the forest one moment more than necessary will find his or her house in the NEGATIVE POINTS! OUT!" her eyes flashed angrily, remembering what she had just run from. Erich Aubrey, the tatters of the centaur priestess, the ja'atkshi anai ritual gone terribly, fatally awry. The pulse of the Forest claimed her attention, bristling with warning. "We must leave, quickly. And hide the tracks of the children." she murmured to Leigh. "He is coming."

Novella would generally have protested, but she had eyes for nothing but her strange new dragon, so she and her beasts left without another word.

Cain sniffled loudly, running to Apronia and clinging to her tightly. "I keep warning you but you keep comin' in here.." he whispers choakingly.

"It's my duty, Cain." she whispered back as they began towards the Forest's edge. "And now...the Forest knows me, and will protect me as one of its own. Trust, piccolo. I know what it is I do." She careful waved her wand behind them, destroying physical evidence of their passing.
Though she knew it not, her connection with the Forest still raw from the weld, the deep magic of the trees rippled in response, erasing the subtler traces of wizards in the wood.

He is drawing himself with gravel and water at the head of the path, building himself a body there. He waits for them to find him.
Erich has a terrible headache and he wants Apronia to know that now, with the priestess dead, it is her he'll have to blame. Though the trees are not listening for him now, they will be. Erich has every reason to smile at his good fortune.

Apronia is last to pass the end of the trail, out into the sparser forest nearest to Hogwarts. Cain trembles at her side, as close as he can press and not trip her. She pauses, suddenly, turns and peers back into the blackness behind. It takes a moment before the rictus smile of reformed gravel catches her eyes and she almost screeches.
The shock of adrenaline kicks her powers into high gear, and she feels the Forest on her still like a cloak. She squares her stance and faces him. "Get thee gone, foul ghast!" she commands as steadily as she can manage. She knows now what she faces, from his own mind.

"Ghast? I have body enough for this---" Erich lurches forward on the word, hands stabbing for Apronia's throat and throwing her back at the slightest hint of contact. He realizes before she that it was not his own strength that did this, though it is considerable, but the Forest struggling to keep her from harm. Apronia cracks against a tree but quickly begins to rise. The others have quickly turned on the path and sprint back at the sound.
Erich is tired of waiting.
He launches himself at each of their minds, an assault meant to scramble nervous systems and thoughts, crippling his targets. A very loud noise. If he's going to boil their insides, he wants to make sure they stand still for it. But in reaching in to the forest for the necessary strength, he finds himself halted. It will let him draw no more for now. His frustration gives him pain and his body crumbles while he screams in to them, psychic blasts so loud they reverberate in the bones, the wood limbs of nearby trees. Everything is breaking little by little and Erich can feel himself welling up as a great wave, an orchestra pit. Who are these children? These small, pointless bodies? he is losing himself in degrees.
And as quickly as the pain came, he's gone again and feelings blunt the way the always do, when the memory rushes in recovery as water will fill anything it is allowed. Erich doesn't even know who he wanted to hurt so badly to begin with. The students pick themselves up from the floor and dust themselves off again.
Because that is the only thing we can do.

He breathed a sigh of relief when Halo turned up "nice to see ye! Though I wish the circumstances were better, this is well over my head." He muttered he didn't like being confused and these dragons just gave him the creeps. And then matters just got worse to Boggleworth it just seemed that Silvanus suddenly started shouting at the forest of all things. Then the world erupted in blast of physic energy knocking Boggleworth to the floor. what the hell was that? he wondered He stumbled to his feet feeling slightly worried now, he at least liked to see his enemy if it even was an enemy. "You alright people?" he asked dusting himself off and gazing around curiously at the forest, he almost felt a calling from inside of it...
