Their earlier meeting having been cancelled, Ethelion arrived at the Three Broomsticks at the appointed time. He glanced around, looking for the man he was supposed to meet -- he didn't know exactly what he looked like, having only previously corrosponded with him by owl post, but he figured he could recognize a ministry official. And there wasn't on here.
Sitting down, he ordered a mug of mead and sat sipping it, his eyes trained on the door.

Vandesar entered the small pub, his eyes taking a moment to adjust to the darkness before he could make out the dim fire and the hunched bodies of fat, stinking men. His fists were clenched as he walked through them, still feeling hot under the collar about what had occured last time he was here. Vandesar glanced at the window where the student gathering had been, but only a warlock sat there, looking sorry for himself. He narrowed his eyes.
Snapping his fingers to gain the barmaid's attention, he singnalled for something small and sharp to drink. It was then that he cast his eye over the man he had no doubt was the Hogwarts professor, Ethelion Eriksson. He moved closer to him, stopping a few feet short from the table. 'Ethelion?' he asked.

Ethelion nodded curtly, gesturing to the seat across from him. "I'm glad you could make it this time." He smiled somewhat uneasily at the man as he sat, setting down his mead, and setting his hands down flat on the table.
"I'm sure you're wondering what is so important that you had to be sent all the way up here."

Vandesar sat down, smoothing the front of his robes stiffly. He looked at the man, unsure. He did not look like any sort of professor to Vandesar, but then again, not many of the Hogwart's faculty did. He glanced at the barmaid as she arrived, and took his red coloured drink without saying anything. He sipped a little then set it down. 'It would be helpful to know.' he said tonelessly, although in truth he was feeling a little irritated. Two trips from London to Scotland in one week was seriously effecting his duties in the Department of Mysteries. 'Care to elaborate?' he said.

"Well..." Ethelion took one more sip of his drink, before continuing. "I have recently become concerned about some things which seem to be happening around the school. Generally I would have gone to the Headmistress, but... I worry she may be part of it, in all honest. You see, we have a new teacher this year-- a Mr. Rainer Langly Freundschaft, who seems to attract trouble like the plague."

Vandesar gave Ethellion a significant look, dropping his arm over the back of his chair so that he could turn to the side slightly and look around. 'Trouble? There are several kinds of trouble, Mr Eriksson,' he said. 'And you cannot go to the headmistress, you say? What is your basis for your suspicions?' he knew he was asking too many questions at once, but it was his job.
'Exactly who is this Freundschaft character - what is his background?' he paused. 'Is it really so important that you felt the need to contact the Department of Mysteries?'
He sat facing forward again, realising he was going to fast. 'Please, be more specific and just say it, professor.' he said. A shadow passed the window, and Vandesar's eyes shot towards it, seeing that an owl had landed on a bench outside. He raised one eyebrow.

"Yes -- Yes, it's very important."
Ethelion picked that one question out from the mass of them, then started with the others. "The headmistress has been strangly absant for much of this year. That, along with the fact that she hired this Professor Freundschaft in the first place, is the basis of my suspicion. Freundschaft -- I don't know anything about him, other than that, judging by the name, he's a German. There is nothing else in any record of someone by his name in his probable lifetime. But he can use wandless magic to a staggering degree, and seem to have a... questionable relationship with a ghost living in the forest who has been tormention student and teacher alike all thorough-out this term-- presumably they came together."

Vandesar listened silently, but remained mute long after Ethelion had finished. He took another sip from his drink, and as he did so he also pulled a small booklet and a quick quotes quill from the inside of his jacket. ‘You have a shaky testimony for I being here,’ he said with a punishing snap. ‘If it were any other man you were talking about, I would be calling this off as a waste of time…’
He stared off out the window once more. ‘Fortunately, Mr Rainer is of – er – significance to the ministry.’ He wondered if he should go further, his face hot and his heart light and quick with the name he had just heard – a name the ministry had lost near… how many years ago was it now? Vandesar cursed himself. His memory was not as if had been, and the Freundschaft case had been dead for a long time.
Was the one this man spoke of really the same one?
Vandesar swallowed after a pause. ‘I find your information a little stiff right now,’ he pressed. ‘I’m sure it would be in your interest to aid the ministry. A reward may be in order if you continue to help us.’ The quick quotes quill scratched away, restlessly witnessing their meeting. ‘I want to know more – a lot more. I want to know about this ‘ghost’ you speak of. Students lives are at steak,’ he said with the smallest of smiles – one that said he clearly did not care about mere students at this point.

Ethelion sat up quite straight. "I'm sure I'll do whatever I possibly can to help the ministry, but I'm afraid that's all the information I have to give you at the moment."

Vandesar sighed heavily. ‘See what you can get – and don’t be patient about it. Time is of the essence at this point. I trust someone as wise as yourself will understand? Mr Rainer is a… difficult person. Don’t approach him. Don’t talk to him. He has ways of knowing what you know – as does that ghost.’ He spat the word.
He stood up now, brushing down the front of his robes. ‘I have a contact – another Unspeakable. I’ll be arranging her arrival here immediately. We’ll be in touch with you, so don’t attempt to contact the ministry. I expect if the headmistress is in on this then she will be keeping an eye on everyone.’
There was a tinkle of the bell, and Vandesar was already gone, his quill and booklet with him.

Sighing, Ethelion remained for a while to finish his drink. He certainly hoped he had done the right thing, but there was no telling what was going to happen judging by that preformence... eventually he stood up, throwing a few coins on the table, and made his way back up to the castle.
