'Well I wouldn't say that...' Loren chimed as she entered the shop just in time to hear Dax's shameless self-promotion. Dax was incredibly sweet, but he seemed to have a knack at saying the wrong things at the wrong time. 'I think you just strike lucky is all.' She said with a cheeky wink. Letting the door close gently behind her, Loren smiled as she walked over to the two of them giving Helia a happy smile. 'Haven't seen you in a while. How are you, Helia?'

She gave him a good-natured punched in the arm, "Oh, shut up, you goof," she snickered. "There's a fine line between irresistable, and having to pay for all the sandwiches you've been scarfing," it was her turn to laugh manically.
She smiled when the other Ravenclaw girl entered, "Loren!" she said happily. "Oh, I was doing just fine until flirty-boy here came in and started criticizing the cleanliness of my store," she smirked. "How about you? How goes life under the reign of terror that I hear is the Minister of... whatever it is?"

Dax mouth was hung open as Helia thumped him in the arm and said he needed to work for the food. He was about to protest when a familiar voice floated into his ears. A small smile filled his face as all other thoughts fled his mind. Spinning around he saw Loren smiling in front of him.
He was about to ask how she was when it dawned o her what Helia was saying. A look of horror passed across his face. ‘What if Loren got the wrong impression?’ Opening his mouth Dax prayed his tongue would not fail him.
“I was not flirting. I was simply being friendly.” His voice sounded more stubborn then anything, and his heart was pounding faster then it had ever done before. ‘Why would Loren give a dam if I was flirting?’

'Mmmm a likely story,' Loren raised an eyebrow at him. 'I recall a similar excuse when I caught you chatting with that Sophie from Gryffindor.' Loren turned to Helia. He's terrible, isn't he?' she said, ruffling a hand in Dax's hair, making sure it was good and messy. 'Thinks he's all that!' She laughed. Reaching out to the round wooden table in front of her, Loren swept a finger across its surface. A rather thick layer of dust clung to the end of it. 'Hmm. Bout the same as my side of the dorm.' She giggled.
Casting her eyes around the quaint little shop, Loren admired the pretty display boxes and small glass cabinets containing some particularly old wands that were famous for never having found their perfect witch or wizard. Loren smiled, enjoying how much character the place had. 'I suppose you've always guessed I need a new wand, Helia...' Loren at last bought her attention back to the older girl. 'I lost it in the lake.' She added bitterly.

"He truly is," was her reply to Lorens question. She laughed at the just-out-of-bed-esque look that the Hufflepuff now wore. "You know..." she said holding her fingers up like a picture frame, "I think you look better this way." She smiled, quite glad for the friendly banter that had been so lacking from her life lately.
"Lost it in the lake? Not cool..." she shook her head. "I've been in that lake... I've been in the squid in that lake... it's not pretty," she shuddered, then gave a good look around the room. "Well, to find the perfect wand, first let's get to know a bit more about you..." she tossed the duster behind the counter with a clatter, then grabbed a rolling step-stool and began meandering around the shelves and tables covered in wands and wand boxes, using the step stool much like a skateboard of sorts. "What's your favorite color, favorite class, and... favorite hobby?" she asked as she blew the dust off a box hiding in the back of one of the shelves.

Loren stuck her bottom lip out in thought. What odd questions, she mused, remembering it had been quite different when she had been picking wands under the girl's uncle's guidance. Out with the old and in with the new! she supposed. 'Well... I quit like purple... but I also like blue... and green... and yellow. Oh merlin... this is harder than I thought. Erm - I'll go with midnight blue!' She said lamely. 'As for lessons nothing can beat a bit of Charms, and I think we both know Quidditch comes at the top of my hobbies.' She smiled excitedly, feeling the wands pulse with magic as they judged her.
She began to follow Helia around the room, studying which boxes the Champion choose to touch or pause over. 'I wonder what core I'll have...' she wondered feverishly. Dax was still stood by the table, his hair a mess and his face childishly gloomy. She could not retrain from a quick giggle.

"You definatly seem like a Hazel-wood type of person..." she spoke more to herself than anyone else, "Yes... Confident, honest, talneted... sure to greet greatness with open arms. All of that fits..." She slowed down when she came one shelf and stood on the very tips of her toes to reach the top shelf, "The only question left then is a core... Griffin... Snidget..." her hand searched through the boxes; some toppling onto other, some falling out of the shelf, a few even attempting to hit her head "AHA!" she cried, leaping from the stool as she pulled out a slender, dark blue wand box. She opened it and handed the wand within to her fellow Ravenclaw, "Hazel and sphinx claw, seven and four-fifths inches. Give it a try."

'Oooooh...' Loren said with a twinkle in her eye as she took hold of the dark, sleek wand. Sphinx claw? A creature of knowledge! she thought proudly, fingering it gingerly. Grasping it in her left hand firmly, she aimed it toward the front of the shop and concentrated, letting her energy flow into it steadily and waited... and waited...
Loren shook it a bit in her hand. 'Erm, Helia...' Loren said, growing somewhat impatient. 'What am I supposed to - whoa!' Loren threw her free arm up in front of her face as a ball of fire bloomed from the end of her wand, rocketing toward Dax. She sighed in relief as it disappeared just before hitting him. 'Wow! Oh - is that good or bad?' She asked, genuinely perplexed.

Her eyes grew wide, "Hm. Well, no... I don't think that was supposed to happen," she paused and looked thoguhtful for a moment, "Unless you're particularly fond of shooting gigantic spheres of flame at people?" she smiled. "Not to worry though, Let's see what else I can find around here..."
She continued to search for a bit until she reached one of the display cases with some of her Uncle's old wands in it, "Hm..." she looked doubtful for a moment, then unlocked the case and pulled out an almost white wand with a clear, green stone handle. She handed it to Loren, "This one may work better; Hazel still--it just seems fitting--but this one has a hippogriff feather core and a peridot handle, eleven inches. One of my Uncle's treasures," she said with a smile.

Loren's eyes glazed over dreamily as Helia produced the wand from the cabinet. She found it enchanting - a beautiful green gemstone handle and dusty white wood. Excitement flourished in her stomach and she took it into her fingers carefully, weighing it up. It was incredibly light, almost hollow it seemed, and the gemstone felt warm in her palm. She gave Helia an appreciative grin as she turned to face the middle of the shop, pointing it at a rather neglected looking potted plant in the blown-glass window. Closing her eyes, Loren concentrated...
A freezing white mist steamed from the tip of the wand, coiling and expanding before her. Loren watch in amazement as the substance surround the little plant. 'Look at that!' she gasped as the crisp brown leaves suddenly flushed green, becoming waxy and strong. 'Merlin, I love it, Helia!' she cried happily, looking back at her friend.

"Wonderful, wonderful!" exclaimed Helia clapping her hands together. "Looks like we've found a winner," she said with a smile. She had wondered if she'd be present for any of the ancient wands' sale, and lo and behold...
"Don't suppose you're in the market for a new wand, huh?" she asked Dax, still loitering around the store with his hair messed up.

Unable to take her eyes off her prize, Loren fumbled about her hip until she found her pocket and fished out a green purse that tinkled pleasantly with gold. 'Here, take what I owe...' she smiled absent mindedly, holding it out to Helia without looking so that she almost knocked the poor girl on the chin.
Loren wandered off into the back of the shop now, twirling her wand in her fingers, testing how well it could move and swish. Loren had had the same wand since her very first day of Hogwarts, and although she had always been fond of her short, knotted first, she could not help but dismiss any sentimental feelings she had left. This wand was perfect!

Dax simply stood at the side of the shop leaning up against the shelves. He watched Loren and Helia as they tired out different wands. Then Helia produced one particular handsome looking wand. This even got Dax’s attention away from Loren’s face. With a smile he watched Loren run around happy with her new purchase.
When Helia asked him if he needed anything he could only just about tear his eyes off Loren. “Hum…oh no I held onto my wand in the lake. It is got a few chips on it but nothing that will do any damage. It will last for a while longer….but I will come here if I do need a change.”
He smiled at Helia and walked forward to try and find Loren.

She smiled, "Well, I suppose it's good you were able to keep hold of your wand. That squid has eaten far too many in my own opinion... Don't know what it is about them that he finds so scrumptious, but it's probably better that I don't find out."
Halo looked thoughtfully from Dax to Loren and back again, a knowing smirk on her face. 'What is it with guys and Loren?' she asked herself with a quiet chuckle as she watched Dax follow after her in a slight trance
