With his studies now completed for the week far ahead of schedule, Jimmy was pleased and had chosen to give himself a short break. He strolled leaisurely down to the lovely Lake which he hadn't really viewed properly for many a week now. Passing many students laughing and joking, he surpressed a rather resigned sigh, wondering what his old friends would be doing now. At least they had each other he mused, for his long years at hogwarts he hadn't really developed any lasting friendships. There had been this one gentleman like himself many years above him who had now subsequently left. His name had been Harold and the times they had shared revising hard for their studies had been grand. Nodding courteously at the young lady's passing him by giggling at his antics he puzzled over why he wasn't making friends. In his old school, back in the muggle world as the wizards called it, he had been popular, but here the scales had changed.
Seating himself upon the ground scant few metres from the lakeside, he wondered why there were no benches hereabouts. He sat bolt upright as his teachings had taught him. Sacnning the area he smiled at the beauty, this place wasn't half-bad really, he just didn't seem to fit. Sighing wearily and wondering when his next post would arrive his eyes were dazzled by the sun's rays reflected off the lake's surface. The grass was rather damp but his overcoat was thick, and would protect him from the worst of it. He pulled out a hat and placed it upon his head as the chill wind rushed through once more. Most students were heading on in for supper now, but Jimmy didn't feel like eating today, he didn't have an appetite for the miserable food here at Hogwarts, it just wasn't in his grand style.
The Christmas holdiay's had already been and gone, of course he had jumped at the opportunity to escape this hell on earth. The time at home had been refreshing and he had eaten handsomely regaining the lost weight from his first term back at hogwarts. His family didn't much sympathise for his turmoil and struggle at this school, their family was large, and now he was the favorite no longer, and not under their noses, faith had been placed back with his older brother, who was a happily married accountant. Not the best job in the world and not terribly suitable to run the family business, it was none-the-less far more agreeable than the magical one as he had been named. he sighed wearily, it seemed he now fitted in neither world, ignored by those at home and shunned by all but professors here, he wasn't having the time of his life, as he had once hoped for. His holdiay's had ended all too soon and now he was back.
Startled by the crunch of boots on the gravel track he didn't look up as someone approached, he hoped they would stop and have an intellectual conversation...
Apparently not, the footsteps receeded into the distance and he was left alone once again. Taking a book from a deep pocket of his great-coat he began to read silently, nto noticing the single tear that fell upon the page.
