Grace was wondering the library looking for something that would give her the indication she needed. The answer to the question that was driving her made. Is it painful? She had been aimlessly wondering amongst the shelves for about half an hour with little to no luck.
She had found books on before the transformation and other books about the after effects of becoming an animagus but none explained the feeling of actually transforming. "Naturally," she thought aloud, "it must be different for each person but surely there must be something recorded!?" She ran her fingers along the spines of the books next to her and continued looking along the shelf.

'What must be different?' Georgette asked.
She had been watching the Hufflepuff girl from over the top of a book case, silently drifting along before her as she went slowly across the rows, occasionally wrenching a yellowing volume from the heavily crammed shelves. Georgette did not usually talk to people who were in the library, as she was not allowed to disturb them - but the Hufflepuff girl was all alone and talking to herself. Georgette smiled as the student looked up.

"Well the actual transformation," Grace began, turning the pages of another book, "when becoming an anima...gus..." Grace had looked up and jumped, dropping the book, as she saw a ghost. She stared at the ghost open-mouthed for a second, then realized she was being rude. She quickly bent over and picked up the dropped book. She looked up at the ghost and smiled. "I imagine the transformation must be different for everyone."

"Oh it is believe me." Said Mort coming up from behind them. "My uncle was an animagus and so was my aunt. The transformation was completely different for both of them. Sorry I seem to talk as if I know it all." He sighed embarrassed. Noticing a new face he immediately got his manners. "Mort Rainey." he said smiling at the ghost.

Georgette giggled appreciatively at Grace's bewilderment, then looked in surprise toward what appeared to be a Slytherin. 'Mort?' she asked, ducking down and poking her her through the books so that she was a little closer to him. 'That means death.'
Curious, Georgette swept through Grace so that she could peer over her shoulder to look at the pages of her book. 'I've never met an animagus before,' she said eagerly. 'Are you both becoming one?' she smiled excitedly at them. It was the first time this term that Georgette had come away from her haunt at the Quidditch pitch stands to mingle with the castle dwellers, and she was pleased that she finally had - there had never been an animagus professor in all her time at Hogwarts.

Mort was growing more embarrassed by the second. He felt the heat rise in his cheeks as they turned scarlet and he sighed. He took a long look at each of them before he finally said, "Well no. I'm already an animagus. Learned to do it in Africa while back. Worst experience of my life. The first time you change that is. What are you going to be Grace?" Mort asked staring at her intently.

As the ghost moved through Grace she shivered and felt cold, slightly dazed. She shook her head and smiled at Mort's curiosity, "well, I know! or rather suspect and as soon as I know for sure that is, I'll let you know." Grace's excitement was welling up inside of her, her transforming lesson was coming up very soon, hours time, and she could hardly keep still. "How long?" she asked Mort, "how long have you been an animagus?"
