Amongst the dusty volumes concerning magic throughout the ages Jimmy felt at home, this realm of facts and figures was easing him into this new and difficult world of magic and all things unreal. Surrounded by many books he was leafing through a smile graced his lips a moment as he read. The key to success he found was to study thoroughly and know the books off by heart; then he could easily deal with whatever questions came his way, this was why he was often found amidst the shelves searching in vain hope for a good read from a factual book, others shunned this dark and mysterious place only coming here to cause mischief Jimmy had surmised.
Making industrious notes on his parchment, his quill sweeping across writing in his elegant hand, Jimmy found himself becoming rather bored, he had surveyed others enjoying themselves far more than he, even though he worked hard his grades were still not up to much and yet others who did nothing as far as Jimmy could see even achieved higher, this was a most puzzling problem but one he was determined to crack. Realising a frown had furrowed his brow; he eased himself back into the rhythm of writing, soon becoming lost unto the melodious scratchings of his quill upon the parchment.
Finishing the long paragraph Jimmy paused a moment to allow his ink to settle and dry. Looking up from his workings he looked around the cavernous room, having already taken in and assessed the scenery around him on his daily visit here, he decided to judge the few people around him instead.
Only five people could be seen and surprisingly one wasn’t even the librarian. A huddle of younger students, merely children to his eyes, stood nearby not even bothering to fain interest at the books around them, they chatted in hushed voices though Jimmy could easily have heard them if he so wished, but he wouldn’t do such a disagreeable thing of course. There were two other students left remaining in the library; one like himself deeply in tune with their books and the other he noticed was looking directly at him, he quickly lowered his gaze and didn’t really catch much of them. Wondering why on earth somebody would be watching him he tried again to concentrate on his work, but found his efforts were futile. He couldn’t get his mind off the person watching him, but he managed to reason it out, they would be doing just what he was doing, having a break from their work, he glanced up and met their eyes and found he couldn’t pull his own gaze away…
