Dax felt rather dejected but yet in a strangely playful mood. He knew that the first person he met on his way to the Owlery would defiantly get a very peculiar greeting. Climbing up the steps to the top of the tower he patted the stone walls as he went humming a little tune to himself clinging onto the piece of parchment as hard as he could.
As he reached the main area were all the owls were asleep, he looked hopelessly for his fathers owl who had brought him a letter only this morning. After seeing that the stupid creature had decided to sleep on the furthest ledge at the top he let out a loud groan. As he walked past the window he saw the evening sun setting in the distance and the green leaves rustling gently in the wind. As he gazed to the outer world he heard a noise behind him, which came form something much larger then an owl.

Tori had taken an hour off of her classes and decided to go somewhere quiet where she could doze off. She positioned herself in a corner behind some very quiet and curios owls. Soon she found herself sleeping.
Tori awoke abrubtly from her slumber as the sound of footsteps echoed throughout the owlery. She jumped as several owls fluttered and moved akwardly out of the way. She stepped out of her little corner and spotted a very cheerful hufflepuff, or so he appeared.
Tori cleared her throat as she approached him, hoping she didn't scare him.
"Hello," she said with a smile, to the boy's back.

As Dax heard someone talk he spun around to where the sound came from with clenched fists. When he saw it was only a Ravenclaw he took a deep breath and held his hand to his chest.
“Gee you scared me then.” He said chuckling to himself. After a moment of regaining his composure he noticed where he was and were this girl was sitting. A frown appeared on his face and bite his lip. Slowly he crouched down by the girl looking at her with a very puzzled look.
“If you do not mind me asking…what are you doing on the floor?”

Tori blushed and gave an embarrassed laugh, "Oh, yeah," she quickly stood up and brushed off any dust on her faded blue jeans. She looked behind her at the corner then back at the boy, "Well, it's kinda hard to find a quiet place to think, or sleep," she added with a giggle, "in the castle. Besides, the sound of the wind blowing through the cracks and windows in here tend to have a calming effect on me."
Tori looked at the owls that surrounded her and laughed as she turned her gaze back to the Hufflepuff, "I know what you're probably thinking, 'how can anyone sleep in here,'" Tori blushed.

As she spoke Dax’s face slowly turned to normal. His eyes grew wide and a smile filled it. “It did cross my mind…I mean some owls snore.” He glanced over to one very load owl who with every breath it let out a loud cooing noise filled the tower. As Dax said that it let out an extremely loud coo which shocked Dax so much he lost his balance and fell backwards landing on his back.
His legs wiggled around in the air and all he could do was laugh. Trying to overcome the embarrassment he pushed himself up so he was sitting on the dusty floor and shuffled his way to where the Ravenclaw was sitting.

Tori laughed and looked down at him, "So I'm not the only one who likes to sit on the floor," Tori stated with a smile.
She kneeled down and faced him. She brought her hand up to his face and softly and carefully wiped the dust off his forehead and took the feathers out of his hair. She giggled as she sat down all the way and faced him, "My name's Victoria Maylie, " she said, her cheeks now turning a rosy pink. "If you don't mind me asking, what are you doing here?"
((OOC: Tori stood up in the last thread... so now your on the floor and she's standing.... lmao))

As Tori cleaned up Dax his cheeks turned pink with embarrassment. As she spoke he nodded his head slowly and gave a small smile. “Dax…Simmons.” he took a deep breath and fumbled around with the piece of parchment he was holding.
“I have a letter…I need my owl…well my dads owl to take it.” He blew a piece of hair out of his eyes and smiled once more at Tori and with a small laugh spoke. “I think my reason was better then yours.”

Tori laughed and nodded, "I think it was too," she said standing up. Tori held out a hand for Dax to grab so she could help him up, "Which one is your father's owl? I could help you get him," she said looking at the asortment of different owls, spotting her own tawny owl, Tia.

Dax gladly took Tori’s hand and pulled himself up. With a smile he looked around the owls trying to remember where he had spotted the old thing.
“Thanks. It is that one there The big, fat brown one in the corner.” Dax pointed up at the owl who had seemed to have woken up from his sleep. One of its yellow eyes where watching his masters son and the girl.
“I’m sure anyone is better with that creature then me. He hates me.” Dax gave the owl an evil glare only to get one back with both of it round eyes this time from the owl.

Tori laughed as she softly nudged Dax, "Be nice... or he'll never like you," she joked.
Tori softly whistled, catching the birds attention. She looked back at Dax, "Um... what's his name?" she asked as Tia flew over her head and softly landing on her shoulder.

Dax pulled a face at the though of having to be nice to that creature. As Tori asked him his name he sighed and gave a low mumble. “His name is Bruno.” Dax groaned and looked away from the owl and stuffed his piece of parchment into his pocket. Maybe he could find the nearest post box and use the old fashioned muggle way.
When Tori called her owl down Dax jumped out of the way of the creatures wing span looking at the creature in awe. “See that is a elegant bird.” He looked up at Bruno with an evil glare only to become rather shocked when eh cooed back flapping his wings.

Tori looked up at the defiant Bruno, "Well I don't think he's going to do anything for you today," Tori laughed. "Maybe you two need a little heart to heart," she teased.
Tori petted Tia and held her out to Dax, "Here, use Tia for now. I have no letters to send at the moment, and she's the fastest owl in my family. Besides, Bruno isn't going to answer to me yet, not until I visit him a few times. My father's an owl trainer slash seller. I used to spend the day with him and the owls and I can pretty much garantee you that if you don't show Bruno any respect... he's not going to do anything for you." Tori said, seriousness in her voice.

Dax looked at Tori and listened to her wise words. He managed to smile at her as he stroked Tia on the back of the head looked at the owl almost affectionately. “Thanks I think this letter does need to be send out soon…I mean when ever it is best for you and your owl….it is not like the letter is that important…well it is but erm…”
Dax looked to his feet and shuffled them around in the dirt as he thought about how pathetic that last sentence was. With a sigh he ran his hand through his hair and looked back up at Tori with a smile. “What I mean to say is that your help will be very much appreciated."

Tori giggled and fixed the small carrier on Tia's leg. She grabbed Dax's letter and rolled it up. She gently placed it in the carrier and gently stroked Tia's head.
She looked at Dax with a warm smile, "You can use her whenever you need to. The moment you place the letter into her carrier and tell her where to take it, she's usually ready to go. Besides, she needs a good fly, I haven't had any letters to send out since I've arrived and she's been getting pretty antsy."
Tia hooted and pecked Dax affectionatly. Tori laughed and gave a funny face. She looked at Dax and smiled, "Apparently she likes you. I think its because she gets to get out of here finally," Tori said with a laugh.

Dax nodded and laughed happily as the owl hooted and pecked at him. The peck did not draw blood unlike with Bruno and the coo was soft and relaxing not harsh and stomach turning. “Thanks I will remember that.” He patted the owl softly then looked up to Tori. “I really mean thanks. Not many people would do this….I…I am really thankful.”
Dax felt his cheeks turn red as he looked at Tori, looking back to his feet he took a deep breath and moved slowly over the corner and looked up at Bruno.
