Zachary stared at the hourglasses with narrowed eyes, his arms crossed loosely over his chest. They were second place, and Hufflepuff of all houses had somehow made it to first.
Standing there for a few more moments, he dug in his pocket for his wand. Pulling it out, he pointed it at the Hufflepuff Hourglass as his mind ran through all the spells he knew. Surely one of them could subtract those points subtly enough.
Brightening, finally figuring one out that might pass through the protective spells, footsteps echoed down the corridor. Fumbling with his wand in a hurry to shove it back into his robes, it dropped lifelessly onto the floor. He quickly bent down to pick it up, finding himself staring at shiny black shoes.

Erin looked down at her fellow slytherin with a smirk and tapped her foot gently. She bent down and looked at him. "Weren't trying to do something bad were you?" she asked quietly, her smile turning into pure curiousity.

Zachary's eyebrows rose out of surprise, and he stumbled back, straightening himself to full height. Blinking a few times, his mouth slightly open, he turned his gaze to his wand. "Bad?" He said calmly, tucking his wand into his robes and looking back at the girl. "No, of course not." He snapped, before smirking slightly. "Don't you know a Slytherin never cheats." He glanced at her from the corner of his eye.

Erin stood up and looked at the boy in amusment. She walked around him once and raised an eyebrow. "Do I?" she asked with a playful smile before walking to the Slytherin hourglass. She placed a hand on it and stared at the emerald snake above her.

Zachary's smirk grew then, his arms crossing over his chest as he considered her. Watching her reach the Slytherin hourglass, he raised an eyebrow. "Oh yes. It's in the Slytherin rulebook, you know. Always play fairly, don't break any rules." He leaned against the Ravenclaw hourglass, situated next to the Slytherin one, feeling the cold glass on his back.

Erin smiled then faced the boy and leaned against the Slytherin Hourglass. She placed a hand on her hip as the other fell to her side. "Has that ever stopped anyone before? I mean, rules are meant to be broken right?" she asked, her smile growing. She wondered how long she could keep her little game going.

Zachary smirked easily, staring straight ahead of him for a moment, before turning to face her. "Well, it's certainly never stopped any Slytherins," he said finally, his voice losing it's sarcastic drawl and instead turning emotionless, if not slightly amused.
"Looks as if Hufflepuff's been cheating a little themselves. That must be it." He said while making a face. "There is absolutely no way that house of morons made it to first place honestly." Then pausing, he seemed to consider his statement. "Then again, they're quite the suck-ups."

Thom rounded the bend on the main staircase on his way to the Great Hall, and saw two Slytherins he had not met before conversing before the House hourglasses. He jumped the last step onto the stone floor, but could not help but look at the beautiful amber stones in the Hufflepuff hourglass, glistening more brightly than the rest.
He smiled. They were going to win this year, no matter what. The Quidditch team were an unbeatable combination, and they were far too bitter about last year's outcome to let it happen again.

"The walls listen deeply and speak wisely to those whom are willing to listen to them." Leigh said, appearing through a doorway not too far away from the hourglasses. He saw that two Slytherins were standing by the hourglasses and smiled. "And I always listen to the walls, so you may just have to watch your own tongue while inside these old stone walls. Plus, the portraits also listen and report any misendeavours that may be happening around the school."
Leigh looked at the two Slytherins, his smile fading and soon frowning. "As for your wish to deduct points from Hufflepuff, 10 points from Slytherin. A further 5 for ridiculing my House, young Slytherin, so watch your tongue."
Leigh then turned to see Thom, standing and gazing upon the amber stones inside of the Hufflepuff hourglass. "And just in time, Thom."

[OOC: Are you some sort of Hufflepuff version of Snape?]
Zachary's temper immediately flared. He didn't quite understand how the Professor heard him, for he was certain he made sure to check he was alone before the girl came. He also knew the portraits always mind their own business, especially when a Slytherin who has no qualms with tearing them apart is the accused. And although the thought of taking away Hufflepuff's points magically had crossed his mind, he wasn't stupid enough to actually do it.
At least, that's what he told himself.
He glared at the Professor, his fists clenching. "Oh of course, excuse me Professor." He said somewhat sarcastically, but polite enough that the man couldn't punish him further for back-talking.

Thom looked in suprised as Professor Addis appeared and immediately set upon the Slytherin boy. Thom watched, bemused, for he himself had no idea what the boy had done. When Thom had arrived he had merely been standing there, but Professor Addis had some solid reason to do with ridicule and plotting against Hufflepuff that was enough to dock the Slytherin house fifteen points in five seconds.
The Hufflepuff opened his mouth to give a polite defense for the Slytherin, but immediately stopped when the boy repsonded to the Hufflepuff head of house so rudely. 'A fit punishment,' Thom said approvingly, making sure he sounded repsectably and not taunting. Thom looked upon Professor Addis, smiling. It was always uplifting to see those who thought Hufflepuffs push overs, punished.

"I didn't actually do anything." He mumbled, his expression sulky. He looked toward the girl, embarrassed for losing so many points in front of her. "And she wasn't even involved." He added, before scowling and looking up at the Hufflepuff boy standing near them.
"You'd say that, he's your head of house after all."

Thom looked at Erin, who had been very quiet so far, and did not like her steely, judgemental expression. At Zack's words Thom looked at him. 'Just because he's my head of house doesn't mean I like him more than other teachers - he doesn't like us half the time.' Thom joked.

Zach raised an eyebrow. He hadn't met his Head of House yet, and wondered if they'd be just as cold. "But he's got to be more leanient toward your house," he insisted, not quite ready to believe that Addis wasn't the unfair Professor handing Hufflepuff all their points. "I mean, surely he wouldn't have taken away fifteen points from you just now," he didn't mention that a Hufflepuff would never try to sabotage points in the first place.

Thom shrugged, then said quietly, 'We work to not get caught, so we wouldn't know if he would or not.' he grinned.
Thom was just teasing the Slytherin, but it did remind Thom that Professor Addis had a temper, and had indeed been hostile towards his Hufflepuffs before. Thom knew Professor Addis would probably not dock points. He would punish them in other ways...
(( Haha, I make you sound like a child beater, Leigh. xD ))
