Boredom swept over Jerred like a dust cover being taken by a duster. Jerred sat staring into space, his mind never wandering from a single thought he had in his head. Some would say his facial expression belonged to a simpleton, but that was his bored look, one that he wore quite often in recent weeks and months.
The single thought was of returning home, a place where he never really felt comfortable for as bored as he was now, home was far more boring as he wasn't allowed to do magic, run around in trees for fears of wild cat attacks and the fear of his mother reigning down upon him.
His mother. A woman who never entered his thoughts while during the school year, but now she did. Her image in his head was a sign that he didn't want, a sign that he didn't need. Jerred was afraid of his mother because his studies and results would show what he had been doing all year.
Despite sitting in the corridor against the wall, Jerred took no notice of those walking past him, his blank face robbing them of any interest in making fun of him. That is, until one person stopped to look down at him.

Loren tapped her foot impatiently as she stood before the boy she recognised as Jerred Boneman. An ugly dribble of black ink stained a large area of her lap - an argument with a particularly brutish Gryffindor girl during Divination resulting in ink wells flying. Needless to say Loren had won, but in the process she had misplaced her wand and so had been forced to wander through the corridors to find somewhere to clean her robes: preferably the girl's bathrooms, whose door just happened to be blocked by the sulking Slytherin.
'Do you mind?' she stated impatiently, jabbing a finger at her robes. 'I don't have time for your jokes!'
It was then that she noticed he was not being obnoxious - in fact he looked rather sad...

'Huh?' Jerred said, snapping to attention as he looked up, firstly at the finger pointing to an ink spot then up to the Ravenclaw whose finger it was. 'What?' Jerred looked behind him and saw he was in fact, leaning against the girls bathroom door. He looked back at the girl, stood up and stepped out of the way.
'I'm sorry.' Jerred managed to say, feeling his cheeks burn.

Nathan slowly walked down the corridor. He knew he was meant to be in Transfiguration but did not feel like learning how to turn a chair into a chair with ears. As he turned the corner in the corridor he heard voices, a cruel smile filled his face. As he moved closer he noticed that a Slytherin boy was saying sorry to a female Ravenclaw. His eyes narrowed and his chest swelled as pride filled him. He stood next to the girl and looked at the Slytherin as he moved out of the way. “I do not think she was telling you to move. I think she wants you to clean her robes.”
He looked at the ink all over the girl and gave a small chuckle. “Are you unable to write? The ink goes on the quill and then you write on the parchment.”

Loren suddenly felt very bad for being so impatient. 'Oh, it doesn't matter, you didn't know...' she said, referring to the door. 'You're Jerred aren't you? I'm Loren if you don't remember -' '
It was then that she heard a mean chuckle approaching from her left. Another Slytherin had strutted up to them, an obnoxious grin on his face. Loren, of course, recognised him immediately - he was the rather unpleasant individual who had cursed of one her best friends not two days ago, bestowing the poor girl with a carrot for a nose. 'I don't think anyone was talking to you,' Loren hissed venomously. 'And I know how to write!'
Loren moved to stand in between Jerred and Nathan, blocking the older Slytherin from the gathering. 'Is there something wrong, Jerred?' She asked anxiously.

Feeling rather put out that a Ravenclaw had first given him attitude and then blocked him out. With a stern glare he tapped the girl on the shoulder and pushed her aside, to look at the other Slytherin. He too noticed that the other boy was a bit down, in the common room or in private he would have cheeked he was ok however with this Ravenclaw. “What business is it to a Ravenclaw. You really are a bunch of bossy, nosey simpletons.”
Glaring at the Ravenclaw he turned around to face the Slytherin with a small smile.

Em had been walking down the corridor slowly, just biding her time. Turning the corner, she instantly recognized two voices. One, Loren, and the other...the nasty Slytherin she had met by the Lake. It didn't sound like a friendly situation. She had no doubt that Loren could tell this guy off...but something in her was just itching to confront him again. She couldn't stand people like him! They thought they were so much better than everyone else.
Heading towards them, she noticed another Slytherin. However, he didn't seem the mean type. He had an odd look on his face.
"Hey, Loren." she greeted her, noticing a large spot of ink on her robes. She glared once at the Slytherin 5th year.

Nathan looked over his shoulder and let out a groan when the same Ravenclaw appeared around the corner and joined in the conversation. She even had the nerve to glare at him. “Why are you always everywhere I go. Do you follow me? A pathetic 4th year trying to act as if she is a 7th year. Now please move along before I’m forced to take action.”
With that Nathan moved to the side of the other Slytherin boy and looked hard at both of the Ravenclaw girls. Why had they gained so much attitude in the past few years, in fact Hufflepuff are getting just as bad.

"Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was your corridor. I also didn't realize running into you twice was considered following someone. You're not too much better, a year older that's all." Emily huffed, crossing her arms. She wondered if the Slytherin he was standing next to was as bad.

“Dear God. You argue that I am bad, you are just the same.” Nathan’s eyes narrowed on the Ravenclaw and looked at her with stern eyes. He could not believe the cheek of this Ravenclaw. “What is your name then. At least when I insult you I can at least call you by name. Make it more personal.”
A cruel smile passed over his face as he raised his hand and rubbed the back of his neck. He then straitened his robes and brushed off any dust that was on his Slytherin badge.

Emily scuffed her shoe on the floor. "Fine. I guess it takes one to know one." she said hardly. "And although I don't see why I would tell you my name, it's Emily. Not that I'm expecting it, but what's yours?" she continued, not liking the smile on his face. She frowned.

Nathan grin grew even more as she told him her name. “Well then Emily, my name is Nathan. Nathan Holloway. Son of the Simon Holloway one of the most successful Slytherin’s ever at Hogwarts.”
That was not exactly true but his father always told him that they were the best of the crop. Much better the Ravenclaw and their mixed blood families. (However his uncles brother in law was a Ravenclaw, but they have learned that he was just as evil as many others)
“So then Emily, why are you not in lesson?”

The Ravenclaw looked at him as his grin grew. She grimaced as he said her name.
"Best of the bunch, hm? I wonder, is your father angry that you're tarnishing his reputation, Nathan?" Emily said maliciously. She wondered what had come over her, she wasn't usually like this.
"And I'm not in class because I don't have one at this time." she stated simply.

Loren growled furiously as the Slytherin had the audacity to lay hands on her and shove her out of the way. And a simpleton? How dare he!
A wave of relief swept over her as Emily rounded the corner, a look of itching determination on her face. She smiled at the girl gratefully, pleased that she now had some back up. When the boy introduced himself as a Holloway, Loren realised who she was dealing with. 'I should've known.' she huffed. 'The only thing you lot are known for is being simpering little brown nosers who scurry around the ministry trying to get your own way!' Loren moved to stand next to Emily. 'And your father, a great Slytherin? Last I heard the only thing he was successful at was conning the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts office into letting him get away with a load of dangerous magical contraband!' She remembered reading the back-page article several weeks ago.

Jerred had remained quiet as others joined him, his downcast eyes foreshadowing the mere thought of their comprehension that he wasn't listening at all. Hearing the usual banter between Slytherin and any other House, Jerred surmised that Nathan was another Slytherin not worthy to get to know in a hurry.
His own worries set aside, Jerred looked up at his fellow Slytherin and laughed. 'The Holloways are just as bad as the Malfoy's. You run around with your tail between your legs when you don't get your own way, even when you do you do get your own way, you still winge and complain. Pity that you're just as messed up about your family as I am my own.' Jerred said, focusing both his eyes as he stared a hole through Holloway. Stepping away from the group that had seemed to of appeared, Jerred looked over his shoulder and laughed once more. 'At least these two Ravenclaws don't have to fall back on a false ego and pathetic arrogance to prove they're better than you, Hollo.'
With a shrug, Jerred walked off, placing his hands in his pockets.
