Dax looked from Addis to Thom. "Maybe i will not go back to bed" he smirked and sat down on the nearest chair.
He watched them shout at each other. After Thom had finished ranting Dax stood up clap[ping his hands.
"Well said Thom! Well said!"

Leigh's face changed from a smirk to a look of hate at the mention of the Ministry. 'You want to become like her? Demanding respect and barking out orders and expecting them to be followed, instead of earning respect and then having people do as you say becayse they admire and repsect you?' Leigh said coldly, his eyes narrowing. 'That's the way that the Ministry works, and that's how they always have. I know how they work! I tried to become an Auror... failed miserably because of the pathetic excuse of an Institution.'

Dax laughed without knowing. Trying to regain his cool Dax started to talk.
"So that is why you hate the Ministry. Your a bitter old sod as they did not hire you. And i simply thought you were being arrogant."
He looked over at Thom and smiled. Dax looked back at the professor and looked at him with a smug smile on his face.

'For your information, Dax, I was branded a traitor and dismissed without honours, it was all a set up to keep me from becoming an Auror. Learn the facts before you speak, student.' Leigh said, putting emphasise on student. 'I was hired, then an event happened and my dismissal happened, lord only knows how I got the job here.'

Dax looked to the floor and then back at the professor. "I'm sorry. I misunderstood"
Dax turned around and moved toward the sofa, he sat down next to the fire and then looked up at the professor.
"So to rephrase the statement. Your a bitter old sod as they fired you. You have a grudge against them, and so thought you would be a hero and stand your ground shouting at them. Well i know that not many people were impressed with your rantings. You may have caused others to speak up but still what did you achieve? Nothing...apart from making yourself believe that your being the hero for the common person."
After calmly talking Dax held no emotion on his face. He looked up at the Professor once again and raised his eyebrows waiting for him to shout back.

Thom was suddenly feeling very awkward, wishing he had not bought up the Ministry at all. 'It doesn't matter. They'll be gone soon, and nothing will have happened... and we can just get on with things...' he said forlornly, glancing at Boggleworth and Girty's faces to see what they were thinking.
The Hufflepuff could still feel the sting of Professor Addis's shot at him, and he felt bitter that the man was probably right. Would he end up gathering the rubbish of his successors?
But it occurred to him. What if he did work for the Ministry?
What if - of all things - he trained to be an Auror?
Thom looked Addis in the eye without meaning to, wondering if his teacher were reading his thoughts like an open book.

'Wouldn't you be a "bitter old sod" if you were branded a traitor to the Ministry, then dishonourably fired, Dax?' Leigh said, his anger flaring after each word he spoke. 'The man, Gabriel Vandesar, screwed me out of the only chance I had at becoming the one thing I ever, truly wanted to be. This school, the hallow halls, were my home after my parents were brutally murdered in their homes...' Leighs voice was becoming emotional, the more he spoke. 'Everytime the Ministry has come into my life the two pains re-inflared, a hate and anger combination that could not be kept back!'
Leigh glared at the three students before him, his eyes mainly on Dax. 'You and the other students should realise that the Ministry is out only for itself. YOu may think it cares about you, but in reality they don't and as a result, they fear you! They fear you because of where you are, what you've done in your schooling and who your Professor's are! The three of you need to understand that the Ministry is not a nice place at all, I've been there, I've been screwed out of a life I always wanted, but now I have to put up with pathetic, good-for-nothing spoilt children!' Leigh spoke harshly, his loose tongue rivoting his words out with such venom that he could care less about what the students voiced. 'I have learned much since my untimely departure from the Ministry, and as such I am passing that onto you, the students, but obviously my classes and teachings are being wasted on you students.' Leigh glared at the students, before turning on his heel and began walking out of the Common Room and towards the Ministers office.

'Merlin...' Thom muttered, shaking his head. 'He could at least have a little dignity. I know he's annoyed he got let off but he could at least pretend he doesn't care...'
Standing up Thom yawned loudly. 'I'm going back to bed. Probably won't be able to sleep now though.' he said grumpily, dragging his feet up the stone steps and out of sight.

Dax looked over at Thom as he went up the steps. He was right, the professor had no dignity.
Dax spun his feet around and lay on the sofa and closed his eyes. "Indeed i too feel like i need to go to sleep. The professor has gone on for so long about something no of us really care about. You were kicked out of your job I'm sorry to hear that but to be honest you must not have been totally free of blame if no one in the ministry stuck up for."
Dax opened his eyes and gave the professor one last look, before standing up and walking back to the dorms.
