Leigh stood by the fireplace, wishing that his Hufflepuff House members were coming. He had to speak to them all again, this time more thoroughly than last time.

Thom left his dorm and walked carefully down the stone spiral staircase. It was quite early, and he was suprised to see professor Addis standing by the fireplace. Thom narrowed his eyes, searching his memories for anything he could have possibly done wrong. He walked forward and stopped behind the sofa, waiting for his Head of House to say something.

Girty walked down the stairs with a text book in her hand. It was open on a page of simple spells about how to fix holes in socks. As she looked up around the common room she saw the professor.
"Good morning professor it is nice to see you again. Did you have a nice summer?"
She then walked slowly toward the sofas and sat down closing her book.

Alicia entered the common room and saw her HoH standing by the fire place and two other hufflepuff there. Alicia headed over to the fireplace, trying to remember if anyone had said anything about Professor addis needing to speak with them. Alicia stopped behind the sofa.
"Good morning," she said cheerily, speaking to everyone.

Girty spun around and looked up at the other Hufflepuff.
"Good morning to you too. Its Alicia right? Sorry i have never really spoke to you before. How are you?"
Girty smiled at the girl hoping to get a conversation going while they waited for other members of there house to turn up.

"Yup, I'm sort of new, so i've not spoken to many people," Alicia smilied, "I'm good, how 'bout you? do you know why the professor wants us here?"

Girty nodded as the Girl spoke.
"I'm good thanks. And no i do not know why he is standing there. Must be very important to get his up this early." She giggled and turned to see if the professor had moved at all.

"Good to see some of you here." Leigh said, suddenly quietening down the ramble of the room. "We Hufflepuffs came close to winning the House Cup, I do not wish to lose again this year. We already have a good start, but I would like all of you better involved. And I don't mind... cheating a little either."

"Cheat?" Alicia raised her eyebrows are the professor, "Aren't we hufflepuffs suppose to be loyal and fair?"

Girty laughed when the professor mentioned cheating and then Alicia comment made her laugh some more.
"You really do not think we are like that do you?" she turned around. "You would get now where in this school without bending the rules. Just be nice to the teachers who like Hufflepuff and stay out of the way of those who will want Ravenclaw to win." Girty smiled and turned back to the professor.

Thom grinned, agreeing with Girty. Hufflepuffs were indeed nothing like their supposed stereotype. They were far from fair, honest and perpetually kind. 'We're just smart, Alice,' he winked at her. 'Just a face we put on to get our own way.'
He looked at the professor. 'We tried cheating last year.' he said dryly. 'It won't work.'

Alicia huffed when Girty laughed at her, not liking her comment being taken so lightly. But she saw that Girty, in truth, was right, and she wasn't goning to get anywhere if she kept of being ms.good fair and loyal. so she turned to thom, "What did you guy do last year, to cheat?"

Thom smiled wearily. 'Being rough in Quidditch mostly. Professor Addis and Professor Vedette helped us loads - giving us points especially. Mostly for trivial things.' he laughed.

Grace came out from under a table ladened with books and straightened up. She wiped her cheeks and sniffed away her fears. She had been listening and was once again stunned at the mention of 'cheating'. "We got along just fine last year without cheating." She walked towards the fireplace as she spoke and when she had done she sat in her favourite tub chair next to the fire. She smiled at everyone. "We'll do just as well this year and even better! Our quidditch team rock and we'll soon start a gruling schedule; we'll win every game and do it without cheating!"

Girty noticed that Alicia had taken her laughter a when she thought about it it was not meant to been mean if it did come across as it was. She shot an apologetic smile and looked over at Grace.
"We did well yes, enough to get us above Gryffindor and Slytherin but against Ravenclaw we had to be nice and make favorites with the teachers. Why do you think Professor Vedette really helped us, yes she wanted us to further ourselves but also to get points. and think about the last meeting we had with the professor her. He gave us 40 points for showing up."
