Thom raised an eyebrow at Dax. 'Never been able to watch a whole game?' he said, pretending to be insulted. 'How can you keep your eyes off it? Quidditch is the greatest sport on Earth, Simmons!' he laughed, sitting up and leaning on his knees. 'Come on, if you had a go at it you might be more into it. You really would make an excellent beater, you know,' he urged, knowing how desperately they needed one.

Dax smiled as Thom went on about how good the game was.
"Well i will try to...not look down." He gave a small laugh before sinking back into his chair. "But yes i would enjoy being a beater. Being able to smash a rock solid ball into my oppositions would be good."
Dax stood up and started to pretend to swing the bat and hitting blugers all over the place.

Thom watched him with raised eyebrows. 'I was a beater last year,' he said. He had been about to also mention that it had been painfully boring, but knew that they were too desperate for a beater to put Dax off. The boy was also clearly afraid of flying.
'Oy, why don't you and I go practise?' he suggested suddenly. 'See what you're like.'

"Yeah...why not."
Dax looked at Thom and gave him a weak smile, his heart start to pound rapidly in his chest. He was starting to become nervous just thinking about going up into the air. His hands became to sweat and his knees became week. Dax sat down and looked around the common room to see if anyone else was watching.
"A girl form Ravenclaw said she would help me but...i have not see her since to ask."

Thom barked a laugh at the mention of Ravenclaw. 'You don't want their help, mate. Whoever it was probably trying to give you wrong tips anyway. No, can't trust any other house is what I say.' he paused. 'They all seem to think us Hufflepuffs are a bit dense. What do you think?' he asked Dax bitterly, his eyes narrowed.

Dax was a little taken back by Thom's comments. The Ravenclaw he met seemed to be nice, but he may have been wrong.
"I'm sure once i get into a game i will be OK. Hit a few bludgers into the faces of the opposition. Will be fun."
Dax gave Thom a rather vicious smile followed by a rather pathetic attempt at a mad persons laugh.

Thom tittered a fake laugh back. 'Yes, of course...' he said, somewhat disturbed.
Glancing at the clock, Thom realised it was far too late to be sat up chatting. Quidditch practise was at the crack of dawn, and he had had far too many late nights recently. Standing up, he nodded at Dax. 'Nice talking. Off to bed now...' he walked toward the stairs, looking over his shoulder as he ascended. 'You'll do fine!' and with that, he vanished.
