((Hehe a fresh start then))
Dax was sitting in the Hufflepuff common room throwing a muggle tennis ball against the wall. He had took it off a first year and was now rather happily laughing every time it nearly hit a passing Hufflepuff. After one bounce it came back to hard and flew over his head. He spun around in his arm chair to try and see where it had went and after working out it had gone to far and he could not be bothered to do anything about it he sat still and looked around the room.

Thom had been coming down the stairs that led from his dormitory when something small and yellow came bouncing up the stone steps, hitting the walls as it went. Puzzled by the object, Thom bent down and caught it as it reached him, inspecting it with a wrinkled nose. It was obviously a ball - but what kind of ball? It was bright and made of felt, but very light. Tossing it from hand to hand, he finished discending the spiral stair case and walked out into the common room, just as another Hufflepuff he had never seen before was sitting back in his seat.
'Excuse me, is this yours?' he asked, holding it up toward the boy.

When Dax heard a voice he spun around to see another Hufflepuff boy questioning if the ball was his or not. "Well yes...sort of...no..I just erm..." he stuttered his way through the sentence. "Erm..i think it would be safer if i said yes." He nodded his head at the end of the sentence and looked at the prefect with a smile. He had not seen many other male students around the common room and was relived when he appeared.

(( Are you implying that Hufflepuff is a girlie house? =P ))
Thom laughed and threw the ball to the other boy, nodding as he caught it. Thom was silent for a few moments, wondering why he had never met this boy before - and why he wasn't on the team. 'Have you ever considered being on the Quidditch team?' he suddenly asked, forgetting to consider that it was probably a bizarre question to throw on someone you had just met. 'We need beaters.'

Dax stood silent looking at the ball in his hand. He hated it when people asked him about Quidditch. "I erm...beaters...erm...flying." He stuttered his way once again through the sentence and looked at Tom and took ma deep breath. "Dear me this has gone a bit wrong." He let out a small laugh stuck out his hand in the direction of Thom. "I'm Dax Simmons by the way Mr Moen. Your a prefect" He closed his mouth from saying something stupid
((Well there are like 4 girls and now Dax is here there are 3 boys so yeah!))

Thom stared at Dax for a moment, his lips spreading into a smile at how he had fallen apart almost immediately. He was tall, almost as tall as Thom, with thick dark brown hair and a good build. 'Was that beaters I heard you say?' he laughed, grasping Dax's hand firmly, shaking it, then dropping it to leave the tennis ball in the other boy's hand.
'And you're right. I'm Thom Moen... sorry, Dax - but I haven't seen you around before. Where do you hide?' he asked quizzically, moving to sit in one of the arm chairs. A thin book was tucked under his arm, but he discarded it on a table, looking at Dax expectantly.

Dax smiled at Thom. “Hide? Oh I normal stay in the shadows, try not to get in anybodies way to be honest.” He grinned at Thom before his attention was took by the book he had put down. “Potions? Or could it be Thom Moen's secret dairy where the act of a macho man is non existent and a soft ball of fluff is inside.” Dax gave a small laugh and then shot a look at Thom almost to say sorry.

Thom barked a laugh, entertained by Dax's cheek. 'Just Potions I'm afraid!' he reached over and flipped it open, letting it flop onto a page about changing hair colour. 'From the restricted section... its a bit daft, coming from me, but I'm thinking about carrying it on as some sort of profession...' he smiled weakly. Thom had always seen himself playing for a county Quidditch team. A teacher was the last thing he had ever thought he would be...

Dax had to swallow a laugh to avoid blurting it in Thom’s face. “A teacher?” He questioned. Dax smile had widened even more as he thought about Thom as a teacher. “Well I’m sure you will be a fantastic teacher. Just a shame you will not have any respect form you Slytherin students.”
Dax may have not been see much but he knew what was happening around school. “I heard you have a nice relationship with a certain Slytherin. Zachary something or other.”

Thom sent Dax a rather unamused glare. 'Daniels and I have absolutely no affiliation.' he said dryly, although he knew, no matter how much he tried to prevent it, they did. It seemed to be fate that they kept getting pushed into unpleasant situations together. 'He is a stupid, weedy little Slytherin who I would not be caught dead with!' he snapped. 'And they best not expect any respect from me either. I'll make their favourite subject into a living hell.' he said darkly, although a disturbingly happy little glint had appeared in his eye.

Dax pulled a fake shocked face when Thom went on about how much he detested the Slytherin. “I was told you would react like that if his name was mentioned. I want to see it myself.” Dax let out a low laugh and looked at Thom. “You seem like a good guy Thom Moen.” Dax held out his hand for another hand shake. In his mind he could see a twisted friendship being formed. One where there would be laughs but also a strange rivalry.

Thom gave a reluctant but unavoidable smile of appreciation as Dax offered his hand once more in consensus. 'Thanks,' he said casually, although he was smiling pompously on the inside. 'I think good is too general a word, though. Pleasantly complex is better suited.' he said with mock arrogance.
For a moment he considered the younger Hufflepuff, weighing up the likeliness of their friendship. He decided he was more manageable than the bizarre Boggleworth, and firmly took hold of his hand, smiling.

Dax smiled and shook the hand before pulling away. Dax then looked around for a chair to sit on. He could go back to his secluded chair where he normally hid in the darkness and worked in silence or for once he could move onto on of the sofas in the middle of the room.
Dax sat down on the latter stretching out his legs. "So Thom…do you think I would make a good Quidditch player?"

'Well, I've never seen you play. I don't think you've ever come to a tryout, have you?' he said, crossing his arms behind his head and leaning back, studying Dax thoughtfully. 'You've got the right build for a keeper or beater - oh, we really need a beater - but do you have the skill?' he asked seriously.

At the thought of a try out Dax became a bit nervous. He squirmed where he sat and took a sharp breath in. “So erm.. how high to beaters have to fly. I know you where one last year but I always seem to well.” He broke off and whipped his forehead. “Never able to watch a whole game.”
(ok Amy I know how rubbish it is but really can not think of anything)
