Lisa smiled brightly at her toast, leaning an elbow on the side of the table. The two months of summer had been great, it was wonderful to see her parents again, who were almost as terrified as shocked about her new purple eyes, but she had truly missed Hogwarts. Even the having-to-go-to-classes bit didn't phase her delight at being back at the castle.
Straightening her robes, she smiled slightly to herself, her hand immediately grabbing hold of her prefects badge. She wasn't one to brag, but that had been the least expected surprise of the summer. She had always thought of herself as the least worthy candidate, as she hadn't always been the brightest student and sometimes skived off her lessons- But her parents were proud of her, and she was most excited to show that the Headmaster hadn't made a mistake in choosing her.
Picking up her toast, she glanced toward the door, watching out for anyone she knew.

Jac walked into the Great Hall and was she was not the only Gryffie up and about at this time. She walked up the isle and sat across from a smiling girl. "Hi," she said, smiling, and noticed the shiny prefects badge on her collar.
"Great morning, isn't it?" she asked, feeling rather chatty. She picked up a plate with bacon on it and put two long pieces on her plate, then looked around for the eggs. "I'm Jac, by the way, Jac Biggerstall," she said, absentmindedly, then added, "seen the eggs?"

It had been a long time but Miranda could not wait to taste the food again from the Hogwarts kitchens. As she walked toward the table she saw two other Gryffindors, and she over heard Jac's question. As she walked up toward them she picked up a plate of eggs. "i believe you asked for these." she smiled as she stood with the plate outstretched in her arms.

Ethel quickly walked along the rows of tables towards the top of the Gryffindor table. She had been late waking up and was in a hurry to get down to the Quidditch pitch on time to practise on her new broom. She spotted three girls chatting together, and realising that she had never met any of them in all her time at Hogwarts, walked up to them. 'Hello,' she said breathlessly as she pointed to the bench. 'Mind if I join you?'

Ron wasn't really a morning person. No- not at all. His worn out jumper hung off his body and his ginger hair was disheveled as he hadn't bothered to straighten it out. Summer had allowed him to sleep in and the start of term brought early mornings.
Grumbling slightly, he walked toward the table holding his robes under his arm. It was then he noticed that at the Gryffindor table, four girls sat chatting cheerily. Grimacing at his jumper, he quickly threw his robes over his shoulders and took a seat next to the girl with the prefect's badge.
Prefect's badge...
Ron's eyes widened and he looked at his robes, clutching his chest. "Bloody hell," he exclaimed, jumping off the bench and getting on his hands and knees, forgetting the girls were there.

Lisa smiled at the girls, both looking quite unfamiliar. She was extremely glad, however, as last term there weren't many Gryffindors and the Quidditch team hadn't been doing too well. They were also lacking in the points department- a bit pathetically too.
About to ask them if they were planning on joining quidditch, as the team seriously needed players, she saw a ginger haired boy walk groggily up to the table, before jumping off immediately, swearing.
"Erm..." She ducked under the table, watching him. "Are you alright?"

Miranda put the eggs down in front of Jac and looked at Lisa and then at Ron as he entered. A smile crept onto her face as she sat down as she saw him holding his chest. When he fell over Miranda too looked under the table too. She was unsure what to do, should she ask if he wanted help or sit still smiling like an idiot.

Ron clutched blindly at his chest once more, before shaking his head and grasping the floor in hurried movements. He had only just started term, and already he had lost it.
Seeing a face loom near him, asking if he was alright, he stopped his frantic movements, and took in a deep breath. "My badge..." He stood up and brushed his robes, walking a little ways away, near the Ravenclaw table. "Oh hell, why does this always happen to me?" He moaned, dropping to his knees and crawling along the floor, trying to avoid going anywhere near the Slytherin table, already flushing slightly.
"I've lost it! My first big act as a prefect, and it's losing the stupid thing." He muttered, letting out a long sigh, turning back to the Gryffindor table sulkily.

Miranda spun around and watched him crawl away, she heard him muttering and he mentioned something about being a prefect. "Our you saw you do not need any help? I have nothing better to do?" She stood up and walked after the crawling boy with a quizzical grin on her face.

Lisa giggled softly, slipping off the bench and crawling toward the two, more for fun than anything. "The view is interesting down here, isn't it?" She said wonderingly, before noticing a piece of droobles best blowing gum stuck beneath one of the tables. Grimacing she hurriedly reached the other Gryffindors. "Do you remember putting it on this morning?" She said, looking at him curiously. So this was the other Gryffindor prefect.

As Lisa joined them Miranda too thought it would be funny to crawl. She got down onto the floor and started to follow the other. "Maybe we should be doing this down the corridors and try and see if it fell off on your way here."

Ron's expression immediately turned into one of relief, and he blushed profusedly for getting the others involved. Picking himself up, he brushed off his robes, before making a face and shrugging it off. His robes weren't going to get anymore presentable, now matter how much he tried to tidy them at that moment.
He sent a glance toward the Slytherins, hoping none of them had seen. He thought about his badge, up in the Common Room where anyone was free to steal it... He trusted most of the Gryffindors, but...
